i think if you have the pal key equipped, it'll take longer to freeze. though, i think, if you have it when you're trying to warm the key it'll take less time than normal..but that's just me

Because, when the player presses the R1 button to equip and unequip weapons, Snake doesn't make any footsteps, which makes him unable to be heard by the enemy soldiers.

oh my god! i had the same friggin problem. a rat friggin ate the key! then i had to chase it with a FA-MAS...didn't work...had to wait till it came out of hole and then i could snipe it...took forever...so then i decided to put a C4 on the hole...a-bout time!

If you walk on a puddle or a loud metal flooring in this game and a guard is nearby, they will hear it and investigate or spot you.

Noise detection started in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (if not there, then in Metal Gear) for the MSX. MGS3 did not start noise detection in the series.
