  • franchement c'est la classe.Que dire d'autre?npthing!

  • Man, The Temptations were not only great singers, song writers, and performers, they also had style!

  • i've got the power :D

  • No matter who was singing in the temp's group... the temps brought it.

  • The hair!

  • Oh the days where music actually took talent...

  • Thumbs up for Melvin Franklin, the greatest bass singer ever!

  • 557 people are tools.

  • This was written and produced By Berry Gordy~for their first breakout recording after leaving Motown to go to Atlantic records which did not know what to do with the greatest singing group of all time! thank god! they came back home to ~MOTOWN!~

  • They're singing about political power. It's the same thing they were singing in Ball of Confusion. Vote for me and I'll set you free.

  • i miss the wolfman

  • More power is still needed in the year 2012. Who you gone vote for?

  • Soundtree, makers of the Blackberry Playbook remix, is reporting that they have been granted permission from Motown to release a full version of it. Drop date is September 13, 2011.

  • where can i find the whole verison of the remixed song on the commercial?!? i need it

  • The two top comments are the same. I am here to change this.

  • thumbs up if... oh never mind.

  • I WANT THIS REMIX #thanksblackberrycommercial

  • That bass line Melvin is doing isn't as easy as it seems. To keep in tempo and pitch over and over it testimony to his abilities.

  • Groovy.

  • Wholly crap i found who is the dad of the guy from cholate rain 1:28

  • These guys are so good man, awesome voices. I especially like the deep voice of Melvin Franklin, such a badass man.

  • The PlayBook commercial has the Peter Raeburn remix. It's available at the end of the month on his website for $1.99.

  • isnt that something

  • Why is the past so... sparkly?

  • This song is good...but i want the remix version...

  • AHOOOHMAHOOMAHOOMA

  • Temptations at the TOP of their game. LOVE this!

  • after five minutes of this song Katy Perrys like: uuhhhhhhhhhh what?

  • I love this song but if you listen to the words - their singing about God. I loved how so many Gospel laced songs came out between the late 70's and early 80's that made to the clubs. No one seemed to notice that they were dancing to something that was being sang in church the next day!!!

  • @sunwukung777 I don't think they're singing about God, but if they are, this is one of the most anti-religious songs ever.

  • @BlackMonk66 This song has nothing to do with God..

  • @Nirvanapwns Yes, but the post I was replying to suggested that it did.

  • Comment removed

  • @sunwukung777 Calm down. I didn't say anything about other songs, but this one isn't about God. Listen to what he says the song is about while introducing it, and if you think about history of the twentieth century, you'll see that when a political leader talks about a "master race," the song isn't about God.

And tell me, why do you think having a condescending attitude toward strangers on YouTube simply because they disagree with you about an interpretation of a lyric is a good idea?

  • I can't remember the last time I found the hunger for power so enjoyable! Thanks, whatiship73.

  • Yes--i am here because of BlackBerry commercial :) Thank you for posting--Love this song.

  • lol ya the commerical lol

  • epic

  • too cool!

  • THAT GUY'S VOICE IS EPIC

  • I wish i could make that noise.... =/

  • yea the commercial brought me here but i already knew the temptations

  • yes friends i too have stumbled across this awesome video because of the blackberry ad

  • Gotta say. The Temptations like a few of the classic Motown acts tested the waters at other record labels during their careers. The Temptations did a few albums on the Atlantic label which were good but didn't really put a promotional effort behind this excellent example of talent on display. Berry decided to bring the boys back home and cowrote this tune with Angelo Bond. Just goes to show the power behind the throne is just as important as what is on display at times. I'm an ol' fart too.

  • 2 people have an ipad

  • How many of you weren't even born when this classic came out? Sometimes it helps to be an old fart like myself---you remember these gems.

  • WOLFMAN JACK!!!!!!!!

  • 2 ppl didnt feel the power :/

  • Comment removed

  • the bass singer makes this so epic :))

  • exactly, .. the blackberry commercial got me here, it's just such a catchy number........80's music rocks!! old music is music!!

  • starts at 0:51

  • I saw this the night it was on television. What a great memory this clip brings!

  • I MISS MOWTOWN!!!

  • This song was a serious workout for Melvin Franklin!!! Power Boom Boom....

  • IF SOMEONE CUD MAKE AN ACAPELLA VERSION FOR THIS IT WUD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! =D

  • Thumbs up if Blackberry Playbook brought you here...

  • @joedude967 : Yes siree! Love 70's disco.

  • @SYLFan2008 :)

  • @joedude967 YOU KNOW IT! HAHA

  • @753Leto wow1!!! i didnt realise i had this many thumbs up! lmfao

  • @joedude967 pretty awesome isnt it haha

  • @joedude967 lol can't even lie about it

  • @joedude967 Why must the corporate world bastardize everything I ever loved? Why must the greatest music of the 20th century be shilled out piece by piece to sell electronic gizmos that will be obsolete in six months? It's not as bad a commercial as the one where the suburban white-bread family in a mini-van is singing Crazy Train, but it's bad nonetheless.

  • @Russebby Do you really think that has anything to do with my comment? Go away.

  • @joedude967 Absolutely, that's the only reason why you'd write something as braindead as THUMBS UP IF YOU'RE BECAUSE OF A COMMERCIAL. Because you don't care what the corporate world destroys to sell their electronic crap-du-jour. I didn't come here because of a damn commercial, I came here because I'm a lifelong fan of the freaking Temptations, and I've loved this song for thirty years. I don't let Blackberry do the thinking for me. Don't hate me because they took your soul and not mine.

  • @Russebby That has nothing to do with my comment, go away troll. I love the song! I don't buy no shit from blackberry.

  • oh awesome, Wolfman Jack is in this! :D

  • Thumbs up if your here because of the BlackBerry PlayBook commercial! This is begging for a remix! Actually, I think the version in the commercial is different...

  • @miketh2005 the commercial version is a remix...problem is no one can find it :(

  • @miketh2005 I do think a cool remix is in order However,...…It is still totally awesome even on it’s own. They are really good & this song is sooo true!

  • @miketh2005 i totally agree man, i was just looking for a remix, or even the blackberry remix

  • @miketh2005 are you insinuating that there's something wrong with this?

  • @miketh2005 ; it definently is a remix.

  • @miketh2005 Fail, i have more thumbs up than you, stop trying to copy me :).

  • @joedude967 I was first.

  • @joedude967 Oh, you were first. But you didn't have the high rated comment yet so I didn't see you. :P I had more words. What's up with the ...?

  • @miketh2005 what "..." but yea I was just messin around haha :p

  • how great is the voice of the guy who starts the song... just love that voice

  • I love every song The Temptations sing. I love this video. This is a live version, The studio song is only like what 4 minutes long. This is almost 7 minutes. They are all dancing and yelling. I love how each and every Temptations gets his own little part in the song. This is my favorite from my man Melvin though. What a cool video.

  • Temptations are AMAZING!!!!!!!! YESSSS!!!

  • it's amazing how i still get so excited and inspired about my Tempts even after all these years ! It's always like seeing and hearing them for the first time ! Incredible !

  • that is why they are the temptations they are the meanest!!!!!! those boy's are bad!!!!!!

  • GREATEST AND FAMOUS!

  • This is a GREAT Song!!!! Just listen to the words!!! Temps FOEVER!!!

  • this was live jack off

  • Why was this lip synced instead of live?

  • @bassistdc all temps live performaces where live,

  • @Jacksons595 All their concert performances are live. This is tv and lypsynced. I can tell and hear the difference.

  • Power Boom Boom...

  • THE WOLFMAN!!!!!!

  • Melvin stands out the most on this song, yeah Blue

  • I am almost convinced that the audience on Midnight Special was dead. In almost every clip I've seen of that show they are just dayum "dead".

    This performance was FIYAH!!!

  • "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

    ~Jimi Hendrix

Love is the ultimate power. The Temps rock my world.

    Zaragoza Bill

  • you're cleared for take-off apollo for the moon and it's a go for america's space mission to the heavens............lol.thanks tempts

  • omg i loved blu (melvin) he was one of the best including david and corn bread(eddie)

  • i adore you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Melvin... Melvin... Melvin !!!!

  • Can U compare THIS to 2 days crap-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • Melvin is rocking the bass, just check him out

  • wolfman jack

  • POWER!

  • this is one of the best songs i have heard in my life. dennis killed it!!!! the lyrics are second to none. I miss this kind of music!

  • @sdeeeezy dennis cannot sing better than david ruffin!

  • @ranmae57 ur out of ur MIND.let David try 2 sing Dennis songs

  • This is one bad tune.

The Tempts are great, no matter what the line-up is

  • Dennis ate it.

  • its glenn loenard

  • I love this song!!! Dennis, Melvin, and Glenn are rocking it!!!!!! YOU GO GUYS!!!!!

  • dont forget about richard

  • wolfie........geez

  • i love otis

  • Well one of the requirements to even be considered to be a Tempt was height. Each member had to be 6'0 or taller

  • ShonniePooh73: The height requirement, set by Otis, was waived in 1996 when the youngest Temp (44 at the time) 5'10" Terry Weeks stepped in to replace Ali Ollie Woodson who left due to health (throat) challenges. Prior to that all the Tempts had to be 6'0" minimum--so, you are correct. Terry, btw, was pulled from Otis' record production company "stable" after "O's" company produced Terry's "For Lovers Only Album." He remains a Temp to this day. Outstanding vocalist and stage presence.

  • Thats bass for yah

  • Excellent!

  • I read an interview that Dennis Edwards did where he explained that this song "Power" was written by Berry Gordy, and Gordy made him and Melvin sing it so ferociously that they had to go see a throat specialist after recording it.

  • LMAO really!!! wow. dennis KILLS it on this song!!!!

  • Quite interesting. Thank you for posting.

  • yeah hes taller than them but eddie and paul the original members where like the same height as them i think otis and melvin where tall 2 its the new ones thats not tall they where short lol thats funny they where all over 6 ft the original ones

  • I never really noticed before that Dennis was that much taller than the rest of the group. He's up in the air!

  • yeah he's 6'5!!! lol otis is 6'3, melvin is like 6'0 or 6'1 like paul. idk about richard and the newer ones.

  • i bet everyone in that room had sex later on that night lol

  • LOL u are funny!!!!

  • @loupremo for what? this song does nothing for me!

  • Mevin was jamming in this one! Awesome!!

  • Pure class!

  • On this same episode, the Temptations performed "Struck By Lightning Twice." Do you have the video of that song, and if so, can you post it? Thanks!

  • Another great song written by Angelo Bond with Berry Gordy. He also was a writer on "Free Me From My Freedom" by Bonnie Pointer.

    Awesome -but where is he!

  • When I think of this song, I think of that $700 billion-dollar bailout us taxpayers unwillingly coughed up to the major banking institutions that are currently falling on themselves. One of the best Temptation songs ever. Shame DJs punked out of playing this. It was a surefire top 10 hit...

    >;-)

  • Man you are on point damn you are on point. I just wished everyone like us COULD SEE!!!! POWER DAMN YOU KNOW IT CONCEDES NOTHING IN OBAMA 'S, ROCKERFELLER'S EYES. AS OBAMA SAYS TO THE MILLIONS "GET OFF YOUR KNEES BELEIVE IN ME I'LL SET YOU FREE" holla back

  • One of the best songs they recorded. Dennis is BAD!!

  • Comment removed

  • i love Dennis the best

  • surprising this song did not get the air time. One of the best protest songs ever.

Black men singing a song with the word "power" scared even the DJs. Too bad many people missed the point...

  • yeah word is because of the riots in miami,so the djs decided not to play it

  • Melvin makes this song special,he drives this song with his bass.He really put his stamp on this one

  • Agreed. I always wondered if some of the parts were bass guitars or Melvin.

  • ANother great tune, the Tempts were probably at their best when everyone was taking leads, the interesting thing is that in the psychedelic era,The Tempts always shared leads,so there was no one who was really the lead singer, what a group, what a sound

  • I like it when Dennis called Wolfman Jack as "Woofie" on 00:30

  • Also a hit in Europe. Reminds me a bit of "Papa was ... " or "Car Wash".

  • The gritty sound of Dennis Edwards voice gave

Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong the opportunity to write such powerful songs for the Tempts, thereby making them reach the peak of their career. Great sounds with Dennis as lead.

  • The lines from 4:15 - 4:52 is very different; it's not in the song that I posted.

  • Skyeler95, those lyrics do appear in the LP version (I'm looking at the record sleeve.)

How did you manage to create links that started in the middle of the song?

  • All you have to do is write them with a colon, just like real time, and it will go to a link automatically after the comment is posted.

  • I got the album with lyrics and i think the power is a reference 2 God.

  • That could be. Don't get me wrong the tempts are my fav group but from this stuff i'm seeing about demonic influence in music and a lot of artists/writers actually being satan worshipers, I almost think this was written about satan (without the temps knowledge). You have to do your on research to relate to what i'm talking about. This was definitely an odd song for anybody to be singing. Those words are down right scary, it's literally something asking for you to praise it and give it power.

  • Yeah ok weirdo

  • Xcaliber

  • @XCaliber40 This could be switched around too. Give GOD the power and he'll direct your path.
