This was written and produced By Berry Gordy~for their first breakout recording after leaving Motown to go to Atlantic records which did not know what to do with the greatest singing group of all time! thank god! they came back home to ~MOTOWN!~
Soundtree, makers of the Blackberry Playbook remix, is reporting that they have been granted permission from Motown to release a full version of it. Drop date is September 13, 2011.
I love this song but if you listen to the words - their singing about God. I loved how so many Gospel laced songs came out between the late 70's and early 80's that made to the clubs. No one seemed to notice that they were dancing to something that was being sang in church the next day!!!
@sunwukung777 Calm down. I didn't say anything about other songs, but this one isn't about God. Listen to what he says the song is about while introducing it, and if you think about history of the twentieth century, you'll see that when a political leader talks about a "master race," the song isn't about God.
And tell me, why do you think having a condescending attitude toward strangers on YouTube simply because they disagree with you about an interpretation of a lyric is a good idea?
Gotta say. The Temptations like a few of the classic Motown acts tested the waters at other record labels during their careers. The Temptations did a few albums on the Atlantic label which were good but didn't really put a promotional effort behind this excellent example of talent on display. Berry decided to bring the boys back home and cowrote this tune with Angelo Bond. Just goes to show the power behind the throne is just as important as what is on display at times. I'm an ol' fart too.
@joedude967 Why must the corporate world bastardize everything I ever loved? Why must the greatest music of the 20th century be shilled out piece by piece to sell electronic gizmos that will be obsolete in six months? It's not as bad a commercial as the one where the suburban white-bread family in a mini-van is singing Crazy Train, but it's bad nonetheless.
@joedude967 Absolutely, that's the only reason why you'd write something as braindead as THUMBS UP IF YOU'RE BECAUSE OF A COMMERCIAL. Because you don't care what the corporate world destroys to sell their electronic crap-du-jour. I didn't come here because of a damn commercial, I came here because I'm a lifelong fan of the freaking Temptations, and I've loved this song for thirty years. I don't let Blackberry do the thinking for me. Don't hate me because they took your soul and not mine.
@joedude967 If you feel so negative about Blackberry, why the dumbass comment "Thumbs up if Blackberry Playbook brought you here"? Why? Why why why why why? WWHHYYYYYYYY?
You're talking out of your ass about something or other, it's up to you to decide what it is and report back to me.
Thumbs up if your here because of the BlackBerry PlayBook commercial! This is begging for a remix! Actually, I think the version in the commercial is different...
@miketh2005 I do think a cool remix is in order However,...…It is still totally awesome even on it’s own. They are really good & this song is sooo true!
I love every song The Temptations sing. I love this video. This is a live version, The studio song is only like what 4 minutes long. This is almost 7 minutes. They are all dancing and yelling. I love how each and every Temptations gets his own little part in the song. This is my favorite from my man Melvin though. What a cool video.
it's amazing how i still get so excited and inspired about my Tempts even after all these years ! It's always like seeing and hearing them for the first time ! Incredible !
ShonniePooh73: The height requirement, set by Otis, was waived in 1996 when the youngest Temp (44 at the time) 5'10" Terry Weeks stepped in to replace Ali Ollie Woodson who left due to health (throat) challenges. Prior to that all the Tempts had to be 6'0" minimum--so, you are correct. Terry, btw, was pulled from Otis' record production company "stable" after "O's" company produced Terry's "For Lovers Only Album." He remains a Temp to this day. Outstanding vocalist and stage presence.
I read an interview that Dennis Edwards did where he explained that this song "Power" was written by Berry Gordy, and Gordy made him and Melvin sing it so ferociously that they had to go see a throat specialist after recording it.
yeah hes taller than them but eddie and paul the original members where like the same height as them i think otis and melvin where tall 2 its the new ones thats not tall they where short lol thats funny they where all over 6 ft the original ones
When I think of this song, I think of that $700 billion-dollar bailout us taxpayers unwillingly coughed up to the major banking institutions that are currently falling on themselves. One of the best Temptation songs ever. Shame DJs punked out of playing this. It was a surefire top 10 hit...
Man you are on point damn you are on point. I just wished everyone like us COULD SEE!!!! POWER DAMN YOU KNOW IT CONCEDES NOTHING IN OBAMA 'S, ROCKERFELLER'S EYES. AS OBAMA SAYS TO THE MILLIONS "GET OFF YOUR KNEES BELEIVE IN ME I'LL SET YOU FREE" holla back

That could be. Don't get me wrong the tempts are my fav group but from this stuff i'm seeing about demonic influence in music and a lot of artists/writers actually being satan worshipers, I almost think this was written about satan (without the temps knowledge). You have to do your on research to relate to what i'm talking about. This was definitely an odd song for anybody to be singing. Those words are down right scary, it's literally something asking for you to praise it and give it power.
