@fiandaca123 Stoma is an opening from either large or small intestine, waste passes through it instead of through your rectum. Often done because part of colon is removed due to a cancer.
IT"S NOT SICK, WEIRD or FREAKY! In 09 I had a Tumor removed from my Sigmoid Colon and the splice (after the 5" section was removed) didn't seal up (it leaked inside). For 2 months I had my stomach dump into a bag. NO PAIN, JUST HASSLE! To the very NICE CARING sincere people. Thanks, eat smart and exercise, It's the most important thing to do. But, to the FOUL STUPID people.....UTUBE IT! LEARN, GROW UP, MATURE and TRY to become NICE CARING sincere people!! It's good for everyone!
@ramseyrob Only primitive people would think that this is sick and weird. I had my surgery last Monday and now I have colostomy. I am a little bit scared that it might infect a little bit and I have cramps at night, but it can happen to anyone. My colon wasnt even sick, it was just too long from birth and it caused some problems. Thank you for being so brave and strong to share something so intimate on the internet in order to help people who have the same problem. It means a lot to us :)
@BloodKei "Only primitive people would think that this is sick and weird" That has by far got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard, you don't have to be stupid to think something is sick and weird, IT IS WEIRD its something people don't normally see and it looks unnatural and yes quite sick. The inside of his body is on the outside for fuck sake, I hope you have this problem on your face.
Incase you dont know what a stoma is... Its the end of your intestines twhere you go pee and poo out of and they make it stick out of your body because your genitalia and anus cant function properly. The bag "Collects" the "Stuff"
@CoolRiffz From what I found out, it is when someone has colon cancer and the doctors need to remove part of the colon. They create an opening on your belly for the uncut part of your colon to be put through, so your waste can exit the body into one of those bags. He's basically shitting out of his belly.
My reversal went OK but with a little more muscle cut around the stoma then expected and it was hard to move around for a couple weeks. In the hospital..... getting food down felt like having a flu bug (system acceptance) not much appetite for first couple of days but day four I turned the corner and felt much better. Went In on Wed. & out on Mon. One month later I could hang from a chin up bar (legs lifted) and eight weeks out I could start my work out again. Feel great today with minor scars
Can you message me and tell me how the reversal went, what you dealt with and overcame these issues? I have a reversal next month and would appreciate any feedback on this.
@TheBgcheez true... also it is a little more tricky to do alone with only 2 hands. You learn your tricks to make it easier over time, and my most important thing when dealing with an overactive ileo is to have the whole bag and wafer combo all ready to go before I take the old one off if possible. The manufacturers of two piece appliances will tell you to put the wafer on and then the bag, but I have always found it much cleaner to put the whole thing on as a unit.
there are no nerves in the intestines so, No there is no feeling at all. Just hassle. You can easily get skin irritation around the stoma like a babies rash. The stoma powder is good to care for that. I had this for only two months while my colon splice healed and didn't have it long enough to master the bag change by myself.
it, you will never know how it feels, I guess our loved ones would to a degree..So nervous, i feel sick and doubt I'll be able to do it myself, change bag etc, my husband already told me he would..So pleased to have watched your video.
Hey, Brilliant video, nearlt brought me to tears. I cannot thank you enough for sharing this video on you tube. Please continue to info us on your progress. I am due to have surgery for a stoma (Temp 3mths) next week, I am so scared it is unreal, although I have had surgery before, it hasn't been anything like this. You look so brave and that has made me feel a little bit more positive..I take my hate off to all those whom go through anything like this, unless you experience
My reattachment went OK but with a little more muscle cut and it was hard to move around for a couple weeks. In the hospital getting food down felt like having a flu bug (system acceptance) not much appetite but day four I turned the corner and felt much better. In on Wed., out on Mon. One month later I could hang from a chin up bar (legs lifted) and eight weeks out I could start my work out again. Feel great today with minor scars.
Some advice: DONT use a hair dryer, no need to have the stoma site dry. Wash the site and surrounding area with warm water only, no soaps, etc. When placing the base plate on dont push down on stoma to make it fit through hole. Instead widen the edges of the hole with your finger prior to placing it on it. This will prevent any pinch or damage to stoma site. Apply cavilon spray to create a barrier. And remember, if the bag leaks on base plate remove it immediately as infection can occur quickly.
@EXTREMEWOLVERINE The stoma site needs to be as dry as possible, otherwise the bag will not adhere. A hairdryer is perfectly safe, as long as you use it on cool setting. I don't know where you got that it doesn't have to be dry. Yes, it can be tacky from skin prep, but if it is wet from water or sweat, the bag will not get the proper seal.
thank you for sharing this video. I am helping a friend with a new colostomy bag. She is very discouraged, but won't have it for too long. Maybe 12 weeks at the most.

Problem is with an over active Ilesotomy you only have a matter of seconds to do this entire process.
