@133haydo Don't run it if it has spun, it'll get worse and eventually throw a rod, Youd need to get the crank reground, then get custom bearings to fit, It can get expensive :(
dude im a mechanic i no wat it can do an yer ive got a spare motor unsure if it runs tho so i can jus take the parts i need from that if i want or swap motor an take risk of it not runnin not sure yet makin up my mind
I don't think those are an interference engine, it's either based on a Buick V6 or a Chebby V6 which are both pushrod engines, valve collision is more of a problem on an engine with overhead cams, if the timing belt breaks you can kiss it goodbye. The main problem is that G.M went cheap when engineering their V6s, they are the same block as a V8 with two cylinders chopped off, so they are inherently off balance and rough running to start with.
@Aussie50 I think so too, Too much Hoons around and these Engines will be harder to find :(, but the Ecotecs have improved alot since these, it's just a Cheap design
@TRcustomengineering Holden is GM, so is Opel and Vauxhaul, so anything made by those three is made by G.M. You actually have it backwards, the more recent Pontiac GTO is actually a Holden Monaro reworked to look like a Pontiac and detuned to comply with U.S Government smog and safety B.S.
@TRcustomengineering They are made in their respective countries for their respective markets. Holden in Australia, Opel in Germany, and Vauxhaul in Great Britain, although the Vauxahaul and Opel models are very similar sometimes. G.M has auto plants all over the world, even in China now, or did have. I think that Holden may be semi independent because it's ownership never came up during the G.M Bankruptcy.
@OlegKostoglatov Holden is Very Successful in Australia, & is the only car make in Australia that's staying Rear wheel drive :D & i found out they're also building made to order cars for the US Police force, because they are still rear wheel drive & durable :-)
I think shipping would be a fair bit but who knows might not be, but i would grab that intake manifold if it was getting parted cheap enough, because me n a mate from work want to do some serious porting and polishing trial and error stuff on his vr v6 with a spare manifold, people are asking to much here for one.
Jealous, its got the exhaust i want rofl. Good vid mate!
it must be something with oil pick up coz ive done a number 3 cylinder aswell its not 2 bad right now so tryin 2 decide 2 repair motor or replace.

I'd say it is a design issue causing no.3 to get inadequate lubrication too.
they are a decent engine if well cared for, but with yobbo's thrashing them to death they are hard to find!.

@OlegKostoglatov Oh...,ok.
I knew about Opel being GM but i didn't know vauxhaul was too.
Yeah now i remember reading about the GTO being a monaro.
But where are the three brands made at If there GM, I'm sure it isn't USA cause I've never seen or heard about any of them being made here.
Thanks for your info! :)

could easy get a second hand engine and box for under 500, a fairly clean vr-s calais here still pulls 3000 if you are paitient with selling.
