if you like sam hain, you'll like sam hain from the 80's real ghostbusters series. in the episodes "when halloween was forever" & the two part episode "halloween". he had an action figure for the series. as well as two new action figures for the retro-action release. and is in the comics too. the writer & director of trick r treat. probably saw this growing up as they would have been that age & into that sort of thing. this is likely their inspiration for their version of the character.

Why Samhain is pronounced Sawain is because in Irish the mh as a diphthong is pronounced as a w, just like how we use ch, th and sh to get their specific sounds since we don't have letters for them in English. Irish doesn't have a w.
