Some great memories growing up in NJ. On cable, we had this, WNEW/WNYW, WPIX, WKBS (until 1983), WTAF/WTXF, WPHL, and WGN. Now? 48 left and came back as a totally different station, 11 still respects their history, which is good to see, WPHL is just another cookie cutter My affiliate, and Fox turned WNYW, WWOR, and WTXF into mirrors of each other.
Channel 9 LONG before the crappy-shit MyNetwork of today. (Even though UPN wasn't much to brag about, there were some decent programs. I was a real fan "Malcolm & Eddie" in the beginning & "Veronica Mars" towards the end.) It was all raw and uncut back in the day, man!
BTW...has anybody ever been up "All Night" in Secaucus before? I haven't. I may need to try that one of these days. But I do remember what Joe Pesci's character in "Goodfellas" said. :-)
@BrooklynEagle Yeah, I mean, remember we were all watching the same thing in those days. All free, all on the same 13 channels, not 200, so we all were on the same page. True story: wasn't until about 5 years ago that I started working for a company in Union County, NJ and I'm riding down the street looking for a sandwich and a cup of coffee and I drive past 'Garden State Brickface & Stucco' and I did a double take and hit the brakes like "Holy sh*!, I remember those commercials!" Totally true
When I think of WOR in 1987, I think of how that channel (among the others) was on its downhill slide. I mean, I grew up in Brooklyn in the 1970s watching all sorts of classic, CLASSIC tv shows and movies on WOR (among other channels). But starting around 1985, cable tv was gaining a foothold in the area, and all that good stuff I grew up watching would disappear only to surface on some cable channel and never come back to free tv. (I didnt get cable tv until 1996)
Brings me back to staying up late watching TV and playing with my Barbies. Good times. And then would be one of those sex chats.... I miss childhood sometimes.
And the V/O on here was Ted Mallie who, with Phil Tonken, were the main "Voices of WOR." Tonken remained with what would become WWOR until 1989, Mallie up to 1994.

If it were me, I'd use this, but just put int he words "WOR-TV Secacus" since the 9 logo is already in that theater header.
Otherwise, love it.

Looks like the end of a Craftmatic II adjustable bed commercial on the very first second of this clip
