I love this film! I had the luck to watch a british film copy in the cinema "Filmmuseum" in Munich. The colors are fabulous! It was shoot with the old technicolor system! Fantastic!
There are social scientists who ask the question of whether it was a coincidence that these 70's horror movies featuring unprecedented violence toward women came out on the heels of the early 70's feminist movement..what do you think?
Imagine watching this alone in the cinema, for the first time, past-midnight, with some weird-looking people around you, as a bonus before the actual film.
@zerochris The idea of Black Swan is a contemporary re-telling of Swan Lake, no? I really fail to see any other comparisons or inspiration from Suspiria apart from the fact that they are both set in ballet schools.
If the japanese anime studio GONZO remakes this film in anime version, it would be like bible black and elfen lied, I hope that the anime remake will be a better than the american remake.
one of the best horror movies of all time..... by the way, this might sound like a dumb question, but whats the name of the song in this trailer? I know it's by Goblin, but dont know the name of it
I actually think this trailer is creepier than the US version. Somehow the stills do that for me. I guess it is in the nature of Horror that part of what haunts you the most is what is hinted at and left to your imagination. By the way, can anyone tell me who the actual killer was? I've watched it the whole movie a couple of times, but I just never picked that up.
@DandAinTac The stills and the way they invert it to a negative coloration, that is genius. the killer might be a conjured ghoul, or possessed human, i never found out either
i Heard Rumors About There's a Possible remake Of This Movie...2 Be Honest Is Very Hard 2 Match This Original Version...The Music Of This Movie Is Scary which make's A Very Chilling Factor . Is Amazing That Years Back Then There Was'nt That many Especial efects & The Horror Flicks Were Good...Now they Do have The Best Technology...& They Can't Make A Scary Movie Or Horror Remake Right...Is A Damn Shame
Nothing yet. No photos or any info has been released yet as far as I know. Who knows if it'll even happen. . . But it would be awesome. Well, if they kept the original score by Goblin and didn't make it about robowitches.
Well, yes, it doesn't been say anything about it, but if it happens it will be just like the original, since this one looks like an animated film already.
Suspiria is with out a doubt one of the best looking and sounding films I have ever seen. I have recently heard about a remake. How dare they! Hollywood you have no shame. This is a 'film' not a crap CGI cartoon. Who's gunna do the sound track a bloody rap 'artist'
sod off hollywood your crap. People watch the orignial on a big telly with the sound turned up to 11, never ever watch a remake of Suspiria.
No disrespect, but any actress would be a BAD idea, this is a 'giallo' and the best example of italian horror there is. No american film could begin to understand this concept, no matter how good the actors, script writers ( suspiria has no understandable story anyway ) director or budget. The film is a dream from start to finish, with no mass appeal. Any remake would be put through the 'McDonalds' grinder and just like McDonalds, a total insult to real food or film. Dont promote a remake!!
Although Suspiria's story isn't very clear, the emotion and portrayal provides more than enough. Besides, what's more scary than not knowing what the hell's going on? lol.
American directors need to stop making shoddy remakes and trying to make the easy money. -_-
glad you agree. lets hope the 'remake' never see's the light of day, it will only dilute the brilliance of Argentos film. I dont what to sit in a bar and hear kids talking about the 'remake' (probably being crap) without having seen this masterpiece.
You should read the comments made by the man responsible for the remake, it going to have something to do with vidoegames has well!!!! He should be shot.
people please out of all horror flims from any tim even now this was rated number 3 out of 100 with the flim saw being number1 on the list like come on this is so much better
Reportedly, Argento wanted the main theme for "Suspiria" to be a something like the one for "Rosemary's Baby"; so Goblin recorded a woman humming a lullaby, as Mia Farrow did for "Rosemary's...", but in a witch's voice — chilling!!!
you see, back when this movie came out, (1977) people were scared of alot of things, and believed in things we today know are fictitious. so a simple yet absurd story about witches and ballet schools we might find silly, back in the 70s it was f#&*%ng scary. I don't find Suspiria scary, I just think it's artistic and the soundtrack is astounding
Right, because obviously everyone in the 1970s were uneducated, naive yobs - unlike today, where everyone is enlightened to the reality that witch covens don't exist in dance academies. In the 70s, unfortunately, humans were much more gullible. I mean, come on...you have to be kidding, john.
Well, i doubt someone could do a movie like SUSPIRIA today. I mean, the colors, the music, and the nightmarish feel of it is unreachable... someone should re-release it in theaters.
And this trailer is the best for any movie. Gives you a full idea of this masterpiece!
