  • Sweet memory....Oh Yea"

  • SUPER TRACK!!

  • They stole this music track from Teddy Pendergrass "Close the Door"

  • @rlk3259 Sort of (in the beginning) -- but they "kicked it up a notch" -- in an entirely different direction, of course ('cause Teddy's classic -- "Close the Door" stands completely on its own) . . . .

  • IT'S FOR THE LOVER IN YOU BABY.Love Howard's adlibs toward the end.

  • I dedicate this song to Louis Menjivar ...baby i would of loved to have been your wife..love always Lupita...

  • Howard Hewitt on lead vocals was tops, even though it seemed to eclipse Jody Watley's talent, those three together really laid down a sound that still resonates!

  • Baby, this is for you, love you always!

  • did jeff of the group tech micheal to moon walk?

  • When my parents got divorced it was my dad who instilled in me the love for oldies music so half of my ipod my friends are like "who the hell are they" lol, but when they show me their musc i say the same thing i remember when i was 8 i brought in a harold melvin and the blue notes cd and and MY TEACHER who was 32 at the time didnt know who they were haha, now im 14 and ya i mainly listen to oldies!! thank-you daddy :)

  • As great as Shalamar was, they would have been even better if Jody had more lead vocals.

  • This was the #1 wedding song at that time & year 1979!

    (I hope I'm right)!

I love1979-so many great albums came out that year!

  • @sweetlove1171 '79 was a great year!!

  • @lunupe83

Oh! I'm so glad you agree w/ me also. My adult children

always make me laugh quoting me when i start talking about 1979.

"We know Ma 1979 was your best year"! lol

  • @sweetlove1171 LOL, Ma 1979 was your best year.. that's funny..

  • @sweetlove1171 Close. 1980. :-)

  • @sweetlove1171 This single was released in 1980, probably even 1981. 1979 was a bit too early.

  • brings back old memories!

  • Well frankly with network radio and of course the fcc you won't get decent music! God bless!

  • THIS SHIT SLAPP !

  • The ULTIMATE SONG TO Play in the Background when you Propose Marriage...

  • this song is to the love of my life!!!!

  • I love this song

  • This would make a great wedding song. and I love shalamar and I'm 18.

  • love this song...music just don't like this any more

  • Is it true they were discovered on Soul Train?

  • @gshunw Well, Jody and Jeffrey were Soul Train Dancers on the show. It's, therefore, possible that Don Cornelius assisted in creating the group.

  • @lashellification if memory serves me right, howard was an replacement after the first leader quit the group, you know I would like to know if howard wrote this song, this has become one of his signature tunes whenever he performs. do you know if he has rights to it because he was part of the group at one time.? He has too rerecorded this song on solo albums of late.

  • @doreennewman You're right. Howard probably does have the rights to the song. However, I honestly prefer Shalmar's version of this song as opposed to Howard's solo version. I just LOVE how Jody's voice sounds on the choice and during different during background parts.

  • does this sample teddy p?

  • @keyzopendoorz I don't know. However, when I was younger, the beginnings of both songs sounded very similiar.

  • @keyzopendoorzNo,Teddy was part of the philly sound group known as "TSOP" it stood for" the sound of philadelphia " many artists had pretty much the same writing group for them, Stephanie Mills, the Whispers, Dexter Wansel and at some point Phyllis Hyman , The jones girls, and there were many many more. Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, as well as McFadden and Whitehead were the writers of the time that turned everyone they touched into gold.No sampling just sound signatures.u heard.

  • The tall, slimmer guy is the one who REALLY invented the moonwalk. He INVENTED it on soul train and people fucking ignore that fact. It's like how Little Richard NEVER gets credit for his role in making rock n roll.

  • i love this song and the babyface remix too

  • Jody's so pretty in that pic!!

  • 1981 FTW!!! :-)

  • Wow !!!!! A masterpieace of soul.

  • Shalamar's voices emitted such honest harmony in this song. It's like seeing the colors of sound and hearing the hues of a rainbow that's been transformed into beautiful and surreal audio feedback.

From the heart they sang. I miss Shalamar. I pray they are all doing wonderful and staying musically creative.
