I dedicate this song to my filthy ass hoe ex that led me on for ages after we divorced even though she started dating a dude 3 days after we split! I HOPE YOU DIE BITCH!!..
@rlk3259 Sort of (in the beginning) -- but they "kicked it up a notch" -- in an entirely different direction, of course ('cause Teddy's classic -- "Close the Door" stands completely on its own) . . . .
Howard Hewitt on lead vocals was tops, even though it seemed to eclipse Jody Watley's talent, those three together really laid down a sound that still resonates!
This is what a brother misses, real music, raw emotion and passion the true fuel of the stock of those grown in the urban inner cities. Good lookin out my man. Great music dawg.
This song goes DEEP into my soul like only very few songs can! When I grew up, this was THE JAM for three summers! When my friend got married, I had the DJ play this for her and her new husband. She came up and thanked me for remember that this was her song too!
Classic Shalamar, this song will never get old, Howard Hewitt has such a great voice, and to think, he wasn't one of the originals, just Jody and Jeffrey..
When my parents got divorced it was my dad who instilled in me the love for oldies music so half of my ipod my friends are like "who the hell are they" lol, but when they show me their musc i say the same thing i remember when i was 8 i brought in a harold melvin and the blue notes cd and and MY TEACHER who was 32 at the time didnt know who they were haha, now im 14 and ya i mainly listen to oldies!! thank-you daddy :)

@lashellification if memory serves me right, howard was an replacement after the first leader quit the group, you know I would like to know if howard wrote this song, this has become one of his signature tunes whenever he performs. do you know if he has rights to it because he was part of the group at one time.? He has too rerecorded this song on solo albums of late.
@doreennewman You're right. Howard probably does have the rights to the song. However, I honestly prefer Shalmar's version of this song as opposed to Howard's solo version. I just LOVE how Jody's voice sounds on the choice and during different during background parts.
@keyzopendoorzNo,Teddy was part of the philly sound group known as "TSOP" it stood for" the sound of philadelphia " many artists had pretty much the same writing group for them, Stephanie Mills, the Whispers, Dexter Wansel and at some point Phyllis Hyman , The jones girls, and there were many many more. Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, as well as McFadden and Whitehead were the writers of the time that turned everyone they touched into gold.No sampling just sound signatures.u heard.
The tall, slimmer guy is the one who REALLY invented the moonwalk. He INVENTED it on soul train and people fucking ignore that fact. It's like how Little Richard NEVER gets credit for his role in making rock n roll.
@kierrap007 Come on sang it wit me then girl; This is for the luva in you...this ring ..means I will always be true! This is...how well start love a new..... this time its gonna last 4 evah! Oh look out now!
My mother used to wake me up out of my sleep when this song would so I could hear it. That is how much I loved this song, as a child. It is still one of my favorites.
This song just brings sooo much JOY<~~~~~~~shout out to those that is struggling in there relationships, we all know it isnt easy but hold on real wrap!
