  • Where did you get the awesome music for this game? Also I can tell (and based on experience) that this is not an original FPS, but your own creation. I kinda did the same thing with the engine on my site. Check it out sometimes. It's a Dark GDK project. Did you use Dark Basic? Cool stuff man. I have watched this video many, many times.

  • No offense whatsoever, but even for '07, this engine is OK at best. HOWEVER, I still admire your work as I couldn't produce this even with Frostbite 2. Good work, I hope to see further improvements.

  • This is actually a very smart way of going everywhere without opening a door, loading, then going to the next room. Grand theft auto does this, and i plan on putting it in my virtual world game.

  • I'm currently creating a game in DB Pro and i am stuck on the collision between the camera and walls (so the camera does not go through it), the gravity (to keep the camera on the floor and to be able to go up steps) and finaly to look with the mouse. If you could, send me samples of the code for each via an message. And i could give you credit in the credits????

  • @OnlyAntony You will want to use commands like dbPositionCamera (0, 603,275,1101) to center your camera and then dbAutomaticCameraCollision(0,1­0,0); to turn on collisions for the objects. You can also use something like dbSetObjectCollisionToBoxes ( 4); to setup a collision for a box draw. I use this the walls in my 3D game. Check out my channel and watch the game demo.

    tons...but it's hard. Something like this in c++ would be insane for a begginer.

  • @planterzs Well if you are going to use Direct X or open GL but if you use an engine like Leadwerks or DarkGDK it is almost as simple as coding in Dark Basic pro and you have a better interface and can expand it more :)

  • anything :P Just download the right libraries! If you'd like to try creating a game, start with something like Allegro, just google "allegro c++" to find it.

  • In addition to the movement to the weapon, find some type of realistic lighting program, with reflections.

  • Yeah, but with the FPS creator you can create almost sane thing, just load your own textures :D, and FPScreator is much easier.

  • FPSC is more restrictive, you have to build the world out of tiles. The world here is a mesh I modelled

  • The movement is good but you should make the gun move too. with Dark GDK I use:

    dbMoveObjectRight(1,15+sin(gun­Waggle2/2.0f ) / 2.0f );

    dbMoveObject( 1 , 15.0f );

    dbMoveObjectDown (1,15.0f+cos(gunWaggle / 2.0f ) / 2.0f );

    dbMoveObjectRight(2,2.5f+sin(g­unWaggle2 / 2.0f ) / 8.0f );

    dbMoveObject( 2 , 8 );

    dbMoveObjectDown(2,2.0f+cos(gu­nWaggle / 2.0f ) / 8.0f );

    You will just have to convert the cos, sin, and dbMove functions to DBPro.

  • TO be honest its very cool, some of the buildings are very good detailed.

    You like used 3D world editor and then exported the map as a bsp file.

    Anyways for the shooting i suggest you try the Tutorials, they have a tutorial on how to make a FPS shooter.

  • Yes... Dark Basic is realy easy to program and there is Recoil AND Shooting animations its just u cant see them because we're looking at a recording of his game so it reduces game quality!!!

  • OMG @ppl that are saying dis is shit , wheres the enemys, ect its blantent u no nothing this is an engine an ENGINE (the heart of a game) the levels are just to test. @OGMO11 isit, Msoft are pushing for games to be writen in C# (sharp not hash) <- for the n00bs , the + side to XNA (XNA's-Not-Acronymed) is the whole 360 ting but it comes with a price tag of bout $90.

  • You can tell it's not FPSC: the world is too big: FPSC can't handle much more than a few indoor corridors. Great work, no lagging or clipping!

  • indeed, the weapon in from FPSC, but then again, it comes from the same publisher(thegamecreators). maybe those are already programmed-in models for darkbasic...

  • it's an FPSC model, I had access to it because I was a beta tester for FPSC... (plus it's there if you look hard enough!)

  • if you know how to program shaders, some bump mapping applied to your walls, and some parallax occlusion mapping applied to your ground floor would really make this game look top-notch, your lighting and effects work is already very good. keep up the good work.
