How was mcguigan elected to the hall of fame, he beat aload of has beens and lost the title to a club fighter. They might as well elect sly stallone he's more deserving of the hall of fame then this pussy!!!!!!
I will always remeber what he done out of the ring , especially with the situation in Ireland at the time , he could unite the people both Catholic and protestant , and that during the 1980's takes a very special person
@theblackmafia71 not really...the people in ireland north and south unite behind anyone they see as an underdog..Its the bastards in ireland and northern ireland that give the impression the people need united
McGuigan was a brilliant fighter, absolutely relentless. His opponents just could not keep up with his workrate. He retired too early on the back of a loss due to a cut. I feel that had he kept going he would have regained his title. Thanks for posting this video it brought back great memories.
Barry was outworked by an inferior fighter in McDonnell in his last fight and that says a lot. In later years he stated that after the loss to Steve Cruz, his heart was no longer in it.
I was ringside for the McDonnell fight and he was not outworked. Barry was frustrated by a horrendous cut and McDonnel was bottling it and basically the cut was too bad to allow it to go on. Barry was a country mile better than Jim McDonnell. Jim's a nice guy by the way but he was the most relived fighter on the planet that night.
They think that because he's from Ulster, that it's part of GB, when of course, three counties of Ulster, including the one Barry is from, belong to the Republic. Some need an education me thinks.
Barry McGuigan was the best and fantastic to watch....after a period of calm he would just erupt and he was SO fast :-)
I'd just started high school the first time I saw him fight on TV & the adrenalin rush I had was unreal so I was hooked after that :-)
(How come at 11 years old I was leaping about & roaring excitedly as I watched 2 blokes pound each other, while my friends did cutesy make-up things with their 'Girls World')
No idea where people get em fella ! This fight ? @ least 20 years old I reckon. I remember whatching it live on TV as back then ? Mcguigan was a top draw. Bless all who post the older fights here. Otherwise? Lost forever I reckon !
damn dude where do ppl get these dvds. I cant find boxing vids for the life of me in new york man. even in espn center in fuckin times square they don't have shit.
Acoustics are dodgy due to the hall the bout was held in. See if you can get a hold of Pedroza vs Mcguigan . Held @ wembley stadium with about 70,000 in attendence.
McGuigan-Pedroze wasn't held at Wembley Stadium. It took place at Loftus Road Stadium in London, home of Queens Park Rangers football club. There were about 30,000 in attendance.
a lot of football fans go to watch boxing to ,what do you want stoney silence ,havent you watched boxing before, look at kaylor errol christie fight ,lots of west ham folled him, steve foster and robert macracken ,and so on
sheik - What atmosphere do you expect at the boxing? lol
Football fans are often boxing fans - you know, the people who actually fork out the cash and go and watch, instead of sitting on their sofas talking shit - like you.
Go and watch Hatton fight, just don't wear your united top, you fucking dick.
