I teach Gold as well and my students are very active seniors. That crossover step is something they would not need/want to do for sure. I think the rest is fine - the pivot turn is done at 1/2 time which is what is taught at Gold training. Give them extra time to get there and they are okay. I will edit that crossover step and my students will totally dig it. Knowing the abilities of your students is key.
I agree with both comments. I'm certified to teach to elderly, Zumba has a lot of jumping not suitable for the majority of those people. But i took the regular zumba training, and this type of class often is full of jumps with lots of arms, and no cues. This is probably the way Zumba teaches the Gold version, but i agree to the advice to take it down a notch. Maybe the Zumba leaders should review the Gold approach before somebody hurt themself...
360 degree pivoting. 360 degree turns in general. jumping on one foot. 1:15 blue shirt lady almost falls, and is ignored. turned away from participants. no build up. no verbal cueing. no visual cueing. lateral jumps on one foot. ballistic movements above head. this at best is basic zumba. stick to the formula. zumba gold is a wonderful program when taught correctly. this is dangerous.
@smasonvacation There might be a mirror we can't see on the video, but yeah. I'm taking a zumba gold class now and this looks a lot more complicated. I've taken a few classes of regular zumba though and that was just insane.
Most adult people no matter what age know if their bodies cannot do a routine and adjut accordingly. I do. I do normal Zumba classes and dont jump if it hurts!!! I am not quite ready for total GOLD classes yet.
Like this routine, but the jumping would not be good for those who have joint issues. However, on the plus side, this type of instruction is easier to follow and just as fun as Basic Zumba with still getting a good workout. Nice Waka Waka!
Not good for seniors or deconditioned participants. No jumping and no smooth transitions noted here. Not a safe choreograph routine for Gold participants.
I just took Zumba Gold too - it is supposed to be low or NO impact - NO Jumping! This instructor doesn't seem to notice any of her clients and the one she should notice most is standing directly behind her the whole time.
I just took the Zumba Gold training and I cannot see how this is a Gold routine. Where is the verbal cueing? The gradual build up of moves? The alternatives for those who have had hip surgery etc or of less ability?

I thought Zumba gold was for everyone? & the instructor needs to be calling out verbal cues & signaling her company. Other than that it was ok :)

Definitely no turning round on the spot like this, balance is a problem for many oldies, if the routine's too complicated they won't be back

@Maggsmcg I've been teaching group ex. for 12 years. Most people will do exactly what the instructor is doing, regardless of ability.
