  • I did my Honors Reading Project on Florence, she is very Beautiful I love her!

  • She had an affair with Prince George brother to King George VI

  • They say at the time of Josephine Baker that the color line was thick. But that didn't stop Mills. So brilliant a performer was she that mogul Flo Ziegfeld wanted her to come on board. Mills declined!!! Unfortunately, so poor was the technology at the time that no recordings exist of this remarkable entertainer. So again, susue...you've done a inestimable service by doing this and here's hoping an Australian biographer of Mills knows of your work!!!

  • @ccaammiiittoo1 Thanks so much again for listening and remembering dearest Florence. Mr Bill Egan knows of my rendering and has featured me on his Florence Mills website. I own Mr Egan's book on Florence's life, and not only is he a good Writer but he is also a lovely man.

  • @susuemikado susue, I'm embarrassed to admit this. But I'm running late in having American ex-patriate Elizabeth Welch brought to my attention. How I came across Welch escapes my memory. But after having posted a comment, her British biographer sent me an e-mail. Apparently, so wide was Welch's appeal that she was once the top earner in England. All the while I thought such an honor went to another ex-patriate, Adelaide Hall. So glad Mr. Egan knows of your work!

  • @ccaammiiittoo1 Elisabeth is one of my all time faves. I also love Adelaide Hall. Nice to know that you appreciate these wonderful Artists!

  • @susuemikado You've come across your musical alter ego. I go way back. And by the way, I didn't include Muriel Smith and Anne Brown. I have set up a dual track with the Tangeras of Argentina, going back to about the same time American women were breaking into an otherwise male-dominated singing field. But I digress. To get back on point again, your work is much appreciated. Please keep me on alert as your busy schedule allows.

  • I salute you for this. I had always wondered whether there an artist who could give a reasonable facsimile of Mills' voice, who was often spoken well of by Lena Horne, Ethel Waters, and Billie Holiday. Some would say she's the godmother of singers of color, including Josephine Baker herself. So thank you a million for this!!!

  • Vey nice! I love it that you have covered Miss Mills, a largely forgotten talent.

  • Did you have a karaoke version of this song? if so could you please link me to it? I have to sing this song for a class and i cannot find a version without vocals to it

  • Florence would love it. Your high clear voice matches well with the contemporary descriptions of her voice

  • And what a beauty she was....you do her -- and this tune -- justice, and I'm so very grateful for it.

Thanks for continuing to bless us with your amazing talents, they never cease to keep me entertained and enthusiastic for life's riches. What a joy it is to hear you sing!

  • Thank you for listening:)

Florence was surely an exquisite beauty inside and out.

  • Anytime, my friend. Your output....these classics....they're definitely worthy of a listen -- or twenty.

I await your next video. :)
