  • cool !!!!

  • Can you fuse the plastic together so you dont have to sew?

  • 4:22 --- NO WAY!!! You can put a camera AND a magazine in there????! Hey, kinda cool, the black bags make it look kind of like worn out leather.

(also want to mention, I have dogs yet still use my grocery bags for a lot more things than just that... we line garbage cans, use and re-use them for carrying things, ect... not wasted in this family)

  • I also agree that there is a -lot- of trial and error in iron settings. I tried the recommended setting and eventually ended up having it on the wool setting which is much higher.

  • MrBonblade does have a point. I reckon it would probably be a better idea to just use car buckles - they looked fantastic anyway. Buying one bag and taking buckles off of it to put on another bag defeats SOME of the purpose in recycling - UNLESS you're using what's left of the cannibalized bag for another project.

  • That is way cool. I"m going to try that this weekend.

  • can i use duct tape to hold it together instead of my sewing machine

  • thats amazing!!

i dont have an stupid sewing machine :C

  • @iLoveChocolateMilk00 you can use the same technique to "sew" it without using a sewing machine...

  • @marcinhaUK i know but im just looking for an excuse to buy one :P

  • or you cold buy a 20 dollar bag ??

  • FIXIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice, that was pretty good. Adding to favorites now.

  • I became excited just watching this! I just might create my own someday.

  • TARGET! >:D

  • la traduccion en español de wax paper en español es papel parafinado? pq si no entonces compre el papel que no era D:

  • i dont have wax paper but could i use something else???

  • @fakeolbittiezz yes use parchment paper to protect your iron and ironing board

  • why not just use that bag u bought -_- ?

  • @MrBonblade Well... it's... trashing a bag to make anoher...

  • Very interesting.

  • Is there a way to waterproof the bag?

  • @dfox17038 After sewing the seams, fuse them the same way you fused the layers. Or just skip the sewing and just fuse your seams, it would be easier but probably not as strong.

  • @dfox17038 plastic is water proof

  • @dfox17038 just cover the whole thing in duct tape <3

  • @dfox17038 The plastic is waterproof already as long as you have no holes in it

  • wouldn't you get pretty sweaty riding a bike with a big piece of vinyl across your back?.

  • I'm so making one of these!

  • now i know how to make my radiation suit

  • can i use ordinary paper coz i dont have that kind of paper

  • yeah that pink bag looks better..

  • I'd like to see someone wear one of these to my school..

  • I made a lampshade for a school project using this technique it turned out really well! I cut different coloured plastic bags into strips and then weaved them together like a material. The plastic acted like cellophane when I turned on the light of my lampshade so all of the colours came through. It looks amazing. Thank you for the idea! Now all of my friends want to know how to do it.

  • @betchyandpramy Thanks for this wonderful tip:)

  • Dioxins?

  • That's cool. Thanks for the knowledge!

  • So you didn't sew on a closure? Wont everything just fall out when your riding you bike if you hit a bump?

  • Do you have to use a zig-zag stitch?

  • distracting garageband music :|

  • That's so awesome!

  • omfg shes creepy...

  • I like the seatbelt idea.

  • anyone else notice that the background music is from the 'keyboard cat returns' video?

  • HAHA!

Buy cheap bag to scavenge parts to make a cheaper bag - logic.

  • is there anyway you can tell me or show my how to add that strap so it wont slip off your back?

  • 1. You bought a bag at goodwill

    2. The bag you made looks like something goodwill wouldn't even take

    3. This took hours of work, also most of us don't know how to sew, unless you're gay or have a vagina.

This PSA was brought to you by PBS Kids.

  • @zenar154 I'm 100% positive I am not gay and I do not have a vagina. But yet, I know how to sew.... you prick.

  • POOPY SCOOPY!

  • Good tutorial for fusing plastic. For making the bag, however...not so much.

  • The bag is really cool, but It seems like you have to be math teacher to follow these directions... and the video wasn't a very good tutorial. Why didn't you takes us through step by step? clear and simple directions. The only thing I understood was the ironing the plastic bags.

  • so, wait, to save from having to spend five bucks on the buckle, you spent five bucks on a backpack that you would have to throw away?

  • my cat eats plastic qq

  • @grdv10 mine too .. its weird

  • this was just really awesome!

  • well, so cool, recycling the bags and stuff, but buying a rucksack to cut off buckles and throw it away is not that cool.

  • Is this strong enough to carry a laptop?

  • @IHaveNoClue1234 I'd imagine so.. I mean, if I were you, I'd put weights in your completed bag, and see.. Add reinforcements if necessary.

  • @IHaveNoClue1234 yes, and you can add padding

  • An unrelated question to your video, but I just wanted to ask it anyways. The guy wearing the plaid shirt, where did he get his shirt from? I've been searching for that kind of shirt for the longest time. Would be a big help. Thanks

  • DAMN! I DO HAVE A DOG.

  • the one thing they didn't mention is that you have to do this in a well ventilated area because of the fumes!! Very bad for your lungs!

  • anda is a babe

  • Comment removed

  • i ve heard that song with keyboard cat

    :3

  • Do u know kipkay

  • @FixedTrixtar diligaf? im showing off dumbfuck im just saying my fixie is better and isnt a gay tark like his, my fixie is classy, dipshit, learn how to talk

  • my fixie is better

  • ok u recycled all those plastic bags. great. but wat r u gonna do w the pink bag u bought JUST for the buckles? wats the point?

  • if wax paper doesnt work use parchment paper :) it works much better and doesnt melt on the bags

  • A million billion bags

  • please DO NOT melt (or iron) plastic indoors with small animals like birds or reptiles. They have much smaller respiratory systems (lungs) and can be harmed by gases / fumes being released from the melting process. FYI

  • AWESOME & plus, its enviromentaly friendly~

  • This is awesome

  • 1. How did you print designs on it?

    2. Can you iron them together for a seemless bag?

  • THIS is TRES TRES BIEN and TRES JOLI

  • I set my iron on wool

  • wow! totally on it!

  • amazing :)

  • Comment removed

  • Where is the PDF for the blueprints/measurements?

  • Love your video, BUT one BIG SNAFU!!! The fumes from fusing plastic are TRES DANGEREUX and bad for your health. Let people know to use proper ventilation and wear an approved respiration mask. Happy crafting!

    Elise Cheval

  • lol plastic wallet

  • hi!.... what type of sewing machine would you recommend?... thanks.

  • @ninjalrt nay sewing machine would do, i would say. ask your local fabric shop owner

  • LOL I was like WTF this song sounds hell familiar. Then realised that I used some of it on garage band

  • Why not just use the pink bag you bought?

  • @khupido1n2 Maybe because the one he made is EPIK!!?

who want a preschooler's bag anyways...

  • @khupido1n2 you are right but i think that thay hadnt made that befor this one by the way ples be my frist sursceber <<<sorry if i speled that rong

  • @khupido1n2 lol

  • I just tried this fusing today, and the only bag whose ink decided to transfer, was a bread-store bag. Though it didn't transfer too badly. Inks must have changed through the years since this first posting. (?)

  • @Lawknee did you remember to put the ink on the inside of the fold/

  • @nagaempress With that particular bag, no. Some of the others, yes. But I was using parchment paper between them, my ironing board and the iron. So the transfer was no big deal. And it was really only slight. I got tired of turning all the bags inside out, so I just used them as they stood, and was impressed with only one bag, out of um, alot (!) whose ink transferred.

  • I CAN'T WAIT TO DO THIS...i just need an iron and i'd be set!

  • wax paper stuck to my bags idk if its my iron or what i dont ahve a high tech one lol its a oldies im haveing to use computer paper and i bought some cheap trash bags that was 3 ply by itself folded it into 6 layers and that made it super strong and its in long sheets so now all i gotta do is sew it up the seems :)

  • @quintonbob Try using parchment paper instead. You can find it in the same department (should anyway) you find Aluminum foil, Cling wrap, etc..

  • wouldnt the wax paper also fuse to the plastic?

  • @quintonbob and @GirlOfGlasses If your wax paper sticks to the plastic bags, use some plain old printer paper. Worked for me. :)

  • @quintonbob Not sure where you are from?I'm in the UK+would just use unwaxed baking paper, you know the cheap stuff bought in the store bought on a roll.Tin Foil would def stick to plastic.I was thinking that if the outer layer was a plainish plastic, then a coll collage could be the final layer, just make a design+then iron on/fuse.Also if bits of clear plastic was used too, other things such as lovely bits of old lace, bits of vintage fabric could be encapsulated in the clear plastic ,Sophie;)

  • tht chick gots some freeeeeky eyes

  • Buying a working bag to cannibalize for use on a bag made of old trash bags. There is something odd about that. I won't say it's wrong, just odd. 5$ is not expensive, and if you have the know-how and a sewing machine, just buy some damn fabric :). The only reason to do this is to have a story to tell, but then again having a story other than "I bought it at Ross" has merit.

  • Loved it espcially your buckle

  • Do you have to have a doctors note to be able to do the project or do you actually have to be in an institution ? As I have unlimited time, no friends and very low level of common sense would it be ok to pay more than the 5 bucks for the well made bag so that I will be able to ruin it to make the shitty looking home made one ?

    Thanks in advance .

  • erm if i dont have wax papercouldnt i just use tine foul?

  • @madamadam158 ...no

  • @applesmoothiee but wy i like teh tin foil! D:

  • my wax paper kept sticking to the plastic

  • This is a great way to stay Green<3 Thank you:D

  • Its definitly a great idea but i was surprised when you bought a bag for buckles then i assumed just chucked that one away as you said you didn't need the bag?? Not a very green idea, hopefully you'll reuse the material from that bag in the future too!

  • I am going to do this. Neato Mosquito!

  • I have a question, can the bag hold heavy stuff, perhaps books? I doubt it, but I sitll wonder. If not, can you add like a thicker coat of fabric and make the bag stronger?

  • I love this stuff

  • how could you make a satual bag like this?

  • I just made a bag this way; and You Can Iron the seams. If you Iron and holes do appear you can clip a patch and Iron it to the inside and you will never know...Used black garbage bags that were the wrong size, I also clipped two hearts out of a white bag and lettering to spell out love and my daughters name. Love is orange color and Her name is in green....I sug. that you do more than one layer of the design so it comes out brighter... Over all I think its a good idea, to reuse 100%

  • @HAMDAMRWS do u have to use wax paper wat did u use

  • @MrDavetheUnicorn yes I did use wax paper, be sure not to use the dollar store brand as it stuck in places but it went fine and I got all of the stuck wax paper off. I put wax paper on both sides when doing the seams and straps be careful not to go over the wax paper or it will melt and seam the bag in places you might otherwise would not.I hope this helps

  • It was all good until you bought a $5 bag and trashed it for buckles etc, what did you do with it put it in the trash ????? if you want clips get old seatbelt clips, if you want to be green then think green all the time.

  • buttchin.... =]

  • hes kind hot even with the salt an pepper hair

  • 0:40 - 1:00 is the face she pulls waiting for a cum facial

  • Cool I dig the DIY stuff over store bought but whats up with that girls arm?

  • what is we dont have wax paper? mmmmmm?

  • when she's talking to you, it looks like she looks did something wrong

  • i wass wondering if you guys can make me a bag..??

i tryed to make one but it keeps on come out wrong???

send me a message if you can plss.???

  • the concept of recycling .. we all need to learn it

I hate this video .. but they recycle .. coool

  • that looks so amazing! i have to try this:DD

  • Thank YOU!!!

oh and nice usage of Garageband

    Thumbs Up!!

  • this would be awesome for homeless people for raincoats and such

  • @anibioman Yeah because homeless people have irons...

  • @scotclansmen if this was facilitated by homeless shelters it would work and they could get irons and bags for homeless peoples

  • @anibioman Hmm... I guess... good save, good save.

  • @anibioman because the homeless apparently have irons, sewing machines and power outlets?

  • @gizmogal89 volenteres at homeless shelters can help homeless people make them or make them and give them to homeless people.

  • lol its good suggestion? put velcro to close the bag, but ok you buy a bag to destroy it and make another?

  • Magazine from cut forests, oil and etc.

Cut up a backpack to make a ..... back pack.

Use coal for electricity to iron and sew plastic, which off gases when heated.

Yeah, that'll work. How about we just stop having so many kids?

  • @CubistCafe You have to consider all the factors before you start making ill-advised comments.

There's a business adage: You need to spend a little money to make a little money.

Things just can't happen because you have an idea, they have to be developed and you have to cause harm to the planet before you cause any good.

We're in an aging population. Everyone is growing older, while the youth group is growing smaller. People just can't stop making babies, for that will cause mass-extinction.

  • @vampireofstyx

The population of the planet increases at Three additional people PER SECOND.

You have to harm the planet to do good. Okaay. Well I hope your babies can eat plastic.

  • @CubistCafe but where are those people located? How is their death rates?

"Developed" countries have an aging population whereas underdeveloped countries have a younger population. Still, these underdeveloped countries have high death rates due to malnutrition, disease, etc. These underdeveloped nations also have children just so they can have more able workers in the family and a little more money to put a meager amount of food on the table like in India.

  • @CubistCafe A dramatic population change can devastate economies at a macro level and as a countries revenue decreases so does any chance of "green" innovation that will pioneer the world to be much more environmentally conscious and not reliant on fossil fuels and devastating the environment.

Soon we will be stuck in a status quo looking more like North Korea with a declining standard of living.

Bridges will collapse, Dams will break, rivers and lakes will be hazardous to drink.

  • We are rapidly reaching the capacity of people that earth can hold and it is widely known that our population growth has a correlation to the degradation of our planet; however, the problem is not out birth rates but our death rates.

From what i've said before, we need a steady stream of young, able-bodied productive population in the world and inhibiting this demographic could be catastrophic to the world.

Decreasing our average death age is the more smart way of reducing the population.

  • @vampireofstyx .....The fuck are you talking about>

  • @CoatedCalm My comment was supposed to be addressed to cubistcafe so it would be diffcult to understand if you weren't cubist cafe. However, if you are interested in reading it, i can send you the conversation.

  • @vampireofstyx .....The fuck are you talking about?

  • Thanks man, Ive been looking for an alternative to expensive bike pannier bags, now I can make one with the plastic bags I have at home.

  • Omggg, this is awesome

  • ok this is like a really cool idea i just wished he would have actually shown a step by step process because the diagrams are kind of hard to understand

  • I gona make my own messenger bag out of plastic bags OooHhhnYeaH

this it totally awesome: environment and good-looking come together with a secret weapon: plastic bags.

  • amazing!!!!!

  • What do you do with the wax paper afterwards?

    Make TP?

  • Um... Why didn't he just cut up 8 bags, cut each one into large, one ply sheets and melt them togather so you don't need so many seems? o.o;

  • what can u replace the wax paper with? i don't have any wax paper...

  • @louise0girl You can find wax paper at any grocery store, in the same area you find the plastic wrap and aluminum foil.

  • i was thinking rain coats...

  • "buckles like this are expensive, this was like five bucks" so you buy a backpack for five bucks to get them instead. totally logical

the whole plastic fusing thing was cool though, thanks~

  • @twineno1 i think it was because there were like 5 buckles on the bag..and yea i kind of wanna make one.

  • where is the PDF of the bag desighn?

  • u bought a better bag and make a crappier black plastic one.....

  • @darkflame275 yes.

    jerk

  • 64 people still don't know how to use youtube

  • This is amazing! (and help to save our planet too ;o) Thanx for charing this & many greeting from germany!

  • This is amazing! (and help to save our planet too ;o) Thanx for charing this & many greeting from germany!

  • i tried like 6 times and it was all wrinkly and now im all out of my plastic bags great

  • Cool, but I wouldn't go out in public with one.

  • her eyes lookde in to my soul and freaked it out XD

  • ok i give you a thumbs up for sharing an it looks pretty cool too

  • ???

  • Instead of making the strips they did can you lay 4 bags on top of eachother to make the sheet?

  • Comment removed

  • if you fold a single sheet of plastic in half twice, you only get 4 layers :L

    Basic math,

  • @bradleytong

    There's 2 layers of plastic on each bag, lol. Remember, it's a bag? 2 sides? 2x2=4, 4x2=8

    8=8. 8 layers, see?
