this song has so many folk sounds in it, and I LOVE IT, same with the islander by nightwish... don't know what kind of folk music it is, i guess it's the music by the northern european countries.. i so love it <3 if anyone knows for sure, just let me know :D

Sinead it also a remix with goove armada, (remember the participation of sharon with van buuren), its the intention of the song, grooovy, cause its based on a scene of the comic.

But yeah, it is possible that it was recorded for ealier albums, like for instance The Silent Force - I find The Last Dance quite similar to some songs from that album. But I'm just guessing, I don't know Within Temptation's work that well...

It is easy to compare bands and at first and on the surface they sound the same, but the more you listen to the albums the more you disprove that, I thought WT sounded like Evanescence, the more I listened to WT I realized the only thing they have in common is they have a female singer and that it is Gothic rock.

I for one, don't like at all the change of WT. Happened the same with Metallica, and even Linkin Park. They changed to be more commercial and end up destroying what they used to be. I love WT, but this change disappointed me very much

People change over time, you're not the same person you were ten years go, and neither am I. If music is supposed to come from a person, then it should change with them. We just need to be accepting of these changes, and if you don't like them, that's up to you, but hateful messages about how they're no longer a good band won't change anything, and quite frankly, they just make you look dumb.

@SilverMoonStrider I agree with you completely. I don't understand how people can say the new Within Temptation is pop. Have they actually listened to the album? Faster and Sinead are poppy songs. But Iron and Murder and The Middle of The Night are definitely NOT pop!

One has to to take more into account when saying that within temptation sounds like other bands these days. The thing is that although they may sound more like 'others', they sound 'less ' like themself, which I'm sure is at least partly because the members of a band such as this one, play songs 100's of times, and if you stay in the same style, you can imagine how boring it becomes for them to play even more years the same old style. You have to make it fun your youself too to do..

The "art" of songwriting is when an artist can say something that has been said before, but in a way as yet unheard. I am hearing more of that evolved sound and I like it.

They always seem to do these 'Celtic - folky' offerings as bonus/extra  tracks. And to be honest - I think they bring out the best in Sharon. The vocals are not 'forced' and her naturally expressive voice with those folky flourishes can come into its own. Beautiful top range from 3.05 - cannot be mistaken for anyone else!

It's not as good as Swansong or Bittersweet but Im still bookmarking it.

Oh I love this ... so relaxing and mood lifting and I whole heartedly agree that this is reminiscent of mother earths sound ... which I love. Music is a moving thing in life ... but Within Temptation never stops making songs that touch my soul and emotions. I never have too skip over 1 song when listening too them and that includes all albums from Enter till now and all their little extra songs they've made between records! For myself when I need too cheer up I put WT in! Love them!
