Mercedes-Benz W123 240D -83 Garage Cold Start

Okay, so in this video there is a slapping noise that is off beat to the rest of the engine.. my 1981 300D does this at every startup regardless of the temp outside once it is warmed up the sounds it totally gone and it sounds like a perfectly healthy 300D.. is that sound normal?

@Sethwm2 i think they all do that. or what you might've heard in my vid was that the door wasnt completely shut and was kinda slapping from the vibrations of the engine.. but i dont think you should worry. you got a vid of it? greetz!

dunno, i own a 300D too, when cold the engine is it made all kinds of sounds and smoke came out of it in all kinds of colors :D, until i changed the ,,warming plugs,, (who work on startup only, dunno how they are called in English)

...now it runs bether than any other new car lol... i loled so hard that there was the fucking problem all time...sounds perfect, no smoke at all even in -10 for now, haven't tested it in -25 :D need to wait for that temerature :)

@Sethwm2 mine and its at 560,000km i dont even need to give it throtle at 0c when starting up

@halfwit134 it wasn't listed, appearently blaupunkt radios weren´t original radio.. ive got a Panasonic mp3/cd stereo now which is great! but im more of originality, only with some modern sound. :)

@coolakiIlen007 oh i am glad you got a new radio in it! i hope that car lasts a long time for you! and i meant to ask, do you still have the 260E that was your uncle's? i am an older mercedes owner myself and think these are such great reliable cars!

@halfwit134 oh yes! the (230E) has been sitting another year on the same field but it was driven and warmed up, im hoping to check on it this summer again. i want to fix it real bad, my cousin just bought a -92 w124 300CE 24v!

What Mercedes did/do you have? :)

You should be able to ring up mercedes and give them your vin and should be able to find your code.

The blaupunkt newer was the original radio in all Mercedes. The Becker was the original. Try to buy a Becker Europe would be suitable for that modell.

@gergely007 huh.. i always thought it was original since most w124s came with it.. anyway i got a Panasonic mp3 stereo from my grandpa. :P its great connect the phone and you can talk with the speakers. :)

No blau deliver usually for VW group modells especially Audi, and Fiat, Opel. Older VW came out with Grundig, e.g. the Alpga Beta Gamma series but MB always order from Becker. U know the best car with the best audio. :)

@gergely007 huh, well perhaps not the w123 . we tried to use the old but the code was lost and couldnt be found.. and ive got my dads Philips speakers in the back which he had in his Mercedes in ´85 :) still great sound!

heh..good old diesel :) It's bad sound if you always gotta get new cars but if you like oldies there's nothing bad to say on these everlasting vehicles which makes you smile :)
