@Darkshade0115 It is, if you own the PC version, and aren't against mods. ;) Just search fallout mods conelrad, should find it. I have it. It puts another station on your pipboy. I think it has like 30 minutes of authentic conelrad recordings, and a bunch of atomic related music from that age(50s, etc). Fits right in.
@cairne13 That's surprisingly accurate when compared to other transcriptions I've seen using Transcribe Audio. I've seen the word "Wyoming" used in it's transcription of "If I Were A Rich Man".
You know, some of this info is still vital today with regards to food, water, meds, etc.
The 'roll in a ball and cover your head' is so they can find your burnt to a crisp remains in one nice pile.
I wonder what ever happened to those at home bomb shelters, if there where any for the middle class? How many could afford one back then, I doubt my dad could working the line at Fruehauf Trailer or the other kids dads and Ford & GM?
Watch the movie "The Atomic Cafe" -- it's a compilation of US government propaganda films from the 1940s and '50s. It has all the classics, including "Duck and Cover", but my very favorite is a theatrical short assuring men (only -- apparently this wasn't a concern for women) that radiation-induced hair loss would be temporary, and easily covered by a hairpiece if you wanted to bother. (The visual effects strongly implied that it would also look EXACTLY like male-pattern baldness.)
"THIS IS A CONELRAD DRILL!" (insert fanfare here)

Except for the one time by a mistake from Cheyenne Mountain back in 1971.
Think I was already in military boot camp by then and never heard it.
