  • thanks, I convinced my parents to keep them! OK, 1 did die DX, may she rest in peace wih her brother. Now, both the other 2 boy mice(YES, I'm sure), Dakota and Sam, are happily living in there temporary home. They need solid food and milk so that means they'll be able to be let go soon, right?

  • @CoolGal449 Ok, heres info anyway. Found baby mice with Mom at our ice rink...brought home, but mom escaped! Keep them in old aquaruim with a mesh top (husband made) so they can;t escape but have fresh air (keeps our cats away too) Google info on rescuing baby mice. used their advice. hold babies by scruff of neck and push dropper (doll's baby bottle works perfectly) feedafew times aday, you can see their stomachs get bigger, its ok even if the liguid dribbles everywhere!

  • @CoolGal449

You know its time to stop feeding them by hand when they really struggle when you pick them up, or try to turn head to nip. Also, leave the dry food (pet rat/gerbil/hamster) out, and when you se them starting to eat it on their own...dont need milk any more! Get the metal wheel...very sturdy, but make sure it spins well before you buy it. They excersice on it all night and sleep all day! they grow really fast..if you hand feed them, probably only a week or 2,

i put several paper towel rolls, and toilet rolls in with them as easy to replace..makes little tunnel for them, plus theylike gnawing on them. when i clean out theaquarium, i reach in and take out all the wood chips...can wearlates doctor gloves(wash handsafter as poop and pee all mixes in. I dont take the mice out...i take everything out but one toilet roll...they are scared enough to all huddle in it and i can do a good job cleaning around ithe mice in the roll..

  • @CoolGal449

i use damp paper towel to really wipe down walls and floor, and wash the wheel in the sink with soap. then i put back new clean paper rolls, 3-5 , back in, but let the scared mice stay where thy are, hiding in the one roll. then put in new wood chips, water and food in cleaned out bowl. its okay to leave them several days as long as you leave enogh water and extra food...mice are tough! our original mice had 4 babies 9now teenagers and now a new set of babies (big as grapes!)

  • @CoolGal449

Now with 12 mice..that is too crowded...so me and my daughter took out the teen agers (4) and let them free down the road a bit near a streem,in a field with an abandoned barn...mouse heaven! Also..do,t bother making friend with them..are wild amimals! the fun thing is watchig them play with each other and running on the wheel. make sure they don't escape..you'll never catch them once they do (when they get bigger) not that it would matter, just your parents might not like it!

  • @CoolGal449

good luck convincing your parents...and if you have any questions...ask me! had these mice for 9 months! was going to set the originals free as soon as they didnt need milk anymore, and got through our snow season, but my 8 year old daughter fell in love with them and convinced me to keep them. they have been easy and fun pets! (we also have 2 cats and a dog, and it all works out!

  • how cute, I found 3 baby mice on my boat (later to find 1 more DX) I anted to take care of them, but my parents said no! hey look only 2 weeks old with no mothr, do hey have ANY chance of survival?

  • @CoolGal449 i started to give you a long explanation about what to do...but UTUBe only allows for so many words. Send me your email..and I'll give you the whole story. But in a nut shell, they will survive (and multiply), if tiny, feed by hand kitten formula (with eye dropper) then move on to gerbil/ratfood from pet store. get the wheel, they love it &fun to watch, use wood shavings for bedding, i use papertowel rolls, fun to crawl in, easy to replace, tell parents, easy care,fun2watch
