Why can't we have an "adore" button for sections like this on You Tube?!?!?! That would be far more appropriate. I LOVE Willow the Wisp & think it should make a huge comeback along with The Magic Roundabout. Should we start a petition?!
Wow... this is the first time I've watched this in about 20 years and... MAN do I realise how messed up kids TV was back then? I mean, how many other kids cartoons can you name that feature evil TVs and jokes about petrol shortages?
As a kid, this show was one I watched when there was nothing else left to watch. Now as a crotchety 30-year-old geezer, I seem to be finding it a spot more entertaining.
You know I never realised this at the time of course but this is just so Pagan!! "Willo the Wisp"?!!! Just Google it!
Also, isn't it so environmentally ahead if its time with all of the 'you shouldn't be guzzling petrol' thing...Spooky! I love it! Thanks for posting- a right trip down memory lane! X
@tripledonkey That was the OPEC v USA over oil and the re-armament of guns to Israel (the yom kippur war). Lasted from Oct 1973 to March 1974. Probably not significant as we still paid 1/2 pennies for petrol dividends at the time.
When I was a child I told my sister that she looked like Mavis "the fat" Fairy when she wore a particular winter coat. She threw such a tantrum one day that she wouldn't go to school. My Grandmother had to call my mother at work because the tantrum got so bad. I couldn't stop laughing; I'll burn in hell for that one.
when i was at junior school i used to call this other kid the milky bar kid, but he would'nt have it and refused to talk to me after a while, i thought it was a compliment.
This show is even funnier now. I think the jokes were done to appeal to even older audiences. I think you can still buy the episodes on DVD. It came out a few years ago.
My friend watches Willo all the time, as she's six, and as she's away at the moment, I've decided to watch it everyday to remind me of her whilst she's gone. And I actually really like it! It's funny!
Kenneth Williams had a perfect Narrator's voice, I'm a big fan of the Carry On movies (as matter of fact I'm already watching Carry On Screaming, one of his best performances) and he is wonderful as Willow the Wisp.
Kenneth Williams was an amazingly intelligent and talented man...but he was also deeply disturbed, a man at war with himself. Carry on Screaming, Up the Khyber & Cleo are the Carry On team at the height of their powers and success...Williams and Charles Hawtrey were superb together, and Joan Sims & Hattie Jacques too...
This is Kenneth Williams at his best! I never cared for the "Carry On" films but this is so different, his talent truely shines through In "Will O The Wisp".
1981. a world shortage of fuel back then? so where are we now?

not so much environmentally, it was the fuel "crisis" of the day, the very same that caused 6 litre V8 cars to go out of fashion at that time
