Hi, I have a question! It says water resistance 10 feet which is about 3m... my friend's watch says 40 feet water resistance. but when she go to play water slides and stuff, her watch start to cloud up and it's now spoiled. Will the same thing happen to this camera if i were to put it in fast moving water?
Format MOV and other - NO PROBLEM to convert. Downlad FREE program FORMAT FACTORY - this program is freeware - and convert almost everything! photos, music, movies. mt2, mts everything to everything.
really great stuff !

!
ps. i have panasonic tz7 and im very happy - i have problem with zoom.... sometimes it works wrong :) zoom in and zoom out... but its okey...
Thank you for posting this video! I've been looking for a waterproof camera to take with me on outdoor trips. Definitely adding this camera to the list.
how long have you had this, do you have any complaints about this camera?
how many different digital cameras have you own? i want to buy an under water camera but not sure which to buy. fry's sale clerk said canon d10 sucks, this is better. anybody please inputs.
@chinh101 my DMC-TS1 is a year old now, been in the ocean, lakes, pools, skiing, snow, out during rain storms, climbing a mountain, muddy from biking in the maine woods, sand from beaches... I bought it for the HD video which the competition doesn't have, and I was sick of the .mov quicktime format. I think the picture quality is much better than the olympus waterproof cameras - their lenses are smaller and have worse low light pictures.
@chinh101 It is awesome at concerts, no distortion compared to my kodak m1033 before this. You will have awesome videos with real optical image stabilization not the crappy digital stuff the flash camcorders today have. If you cannot afford the TS2, get a TS1 they are on sale everywhere and its the same camera -freezeproof (which mine never had issues with in Maine)
I just got this, it doesnt take as good of quality videos as i thought it would. is there somthing you have to do to switch to hd recording? or is it allways recording in hd? thanks!
you will need to check if the memory card is class 6 or class 4, class 6 are capable of writing at faster speeds required for HD video. But on the camera, set the knob to Ai mode, then press "menu" "left button" "down button" "right button" and set record mode to AVCHD lite, then set recording quality to S (short play) for best quality.
The better the lighting the better the video quality - good luck!
Also, if you are using the software that comes with it that may be your problem, it seems like everyone who uploads to youtube using the software gets their video quality downgraded a lot... I would just use the *new* windows windows movie maker (google: windows live movie maker) which works with this format or sony vegas to edit your movies.
The Olympus series do not take 720HD video, only 640x480. So, if you plan on taking any video I would go with Panasonic. Plus, Panasonic use SD cards not XD like Olympus. And this camera has more optical zoom. The video quality of this camera replaces the need for a camcorder, and its worry free because its shock/waterproof. I take it so many places I couldn't take my old sony. Think of the cool places you can take HD video..
i just got this camera and if anyone wants to see some of the pictures i got with this camera just let me know and ill send some too you. this camera does everything. Video is great quality and pictures are great quality and it waterproof on top of that. I also recommend the Epson Picture Mate personal photo lab as this printer will print your pictures with the same great quality. MSG me for some of my sample pics!! its an awsome camera.
you can upload directly to youtube, but it would take a LONNGGGG time. I converted to .WMV video but ketp the framerate and resolution and did 8Mb/Sec for uploading to youtube. They look nearly the same, and youtube will farther degrade the quality a bit more.
I also noticed youtube can process the video 5x faster when you upload as a .wmv
get the 30 day trial off sonys site, it has become my favorite editing program. The biggest tip I got was when starting a new project, it lets you choose a template, click the file icoon choose a file from the camera and it will match the settings of your video... then you are ready to create then render in .WMV ( I use the 720p HD template and up the bitrate to 7 or 8MB)
The largest video I have is 8:07 and is 882MB in AVCHD 1280x720 59.97fps (notice its half the size of your videos) So you would at least get 20 minutes before having to press record again. And the files are much wider supported for video editing now. I can also tell you this camera is good for 1 hour of HD video on an 8GB card and 1.25 hours of battery life recording. That is constant with ~30 seconds in between clips. Using the Ai with face detection drains it a bit faster I noticed.
You are still limited to the 2GB file size on videos, whether using motion jpeg or AVCHD Lite, correct? This is the issue w/ my current Panasonic FX35 (I do motorcycle vlogging), as after about 10 mins I hit 2GB and have to hit the record button again and repeat every 10 mins until the 16GB card is full.
According to the info on Panasonic's website, the video it shoots is 30 fps (you say 60 fps in your description). Still, thanks for the upload.
What do you think about the zoom? It seemed impressive (I'm guessing you used the digital zoom as well...). In my experience, 3x zoom was basically useless. How useful would you say 4.6x zoom is?
Motion Image (HD Movie) 1280x720, 60P(CCD output is 30p)
Video files are 60 frames per second. Sony vegas says they are, adobe after effects says 59.97 also. I can even scroll through individual frames and it is 60/second of video.
I think the camera lens does 30p and then the camera turns it into 60fps to reduce blur with the built in image stabilization.
The zoom works much better than my older kodak m1033 with 3x, it goes to 18x in digital zoom which shakes more and gets distorted. You can really zoom in a lot on this camera.
I thought 3x was useless too. My only complaint about the zoom is it distorts the sound while zooming so it doesnt pick up motor noise.
At 1:11 - is that guy sporting "wood"?

@MtnXfreeride It's not quite the same since the Ts1 you can submerge upto 3 meters while the Ts2 can go to 10.

JuiceeBoxProductions 2 years ago
probably, the thing that may not work is the codec for AVDHD lite video files. If so then you are set.
