ugh... Honestly I love Linux, I've been using Ubuntu for 5 years now, convinced everyone in my family to install it as their default and sole OS on their computers. But that cube thing and the wobbly windows bugs the crap out of me. I don't love Linux cause it has neat desktop effects- I love it cause it does EVERYTHING and MORE! I think Ubuntu 8.04 was the last really great distro.

That looks like Parallels Workstation to me; it's a virtual machine (Windows XP is running on a virtual computer on top of Linux). This video is old, VirtualBox is the best virtualization software for Linux hosts now.

Funny I have it on an old 500mhz machine and it beats my dual core through start up of windows as comparison. I think you got your BS backwards. On my quad core it absolutely flies and never taxes out the processor 1/2 as bad as windows does.

yes you can.. just make sure you backup the files you need onto memory stick or email it to yourself zipped... make sure you have a restore disk or restore partition on your PC.. to be honest, if you don't know whether you can change back to vista probably means you're not too familiar with computers so you'd most likely find ubuntu difficult to install use and make most out of it. XP is still the best for simple users like myself, mac for professionals, linux for smart people.. i think

download an .iso file and mount it to a cd this usualy will be called a live cd restart your computer and at the main motherboard loading screen as your computer boots you click one of the funcon keys (F keys) and chose to boot from cd/dvd and it should boot and be able to try without wipeing off windows :)

Check out "Gnome-Look[dot]org". I'm sure you'll find a MacOS theme there if you're interested. As for having the Mac buttons on the left side of your windows, I believe that can be done with Emerald themes.

IMHO, Ubuntu is best for newbies. It wont hurt if u are just trying/learning how to mod your box with Ubuntu. For advance modding, there's alot of different distros that are available. I'd recommend BSD based distros.

For the apps and plugins, I used beryl, parallels workstation virtual machine, kiba-dock, (i prefer avant-window-navigator now, checkout my latest vid) and some others. For screenrecording, I used Istanbul Desktop session recorder.
