@MMArmaggedon I think it is more that the heavyweights got a lot bigger and Fedor got older and lost his power, speed and especially his reflexes. He can no longer snip his opponents on the holes in their games as effectively as he did back in PRIDE because he can't react as fast, and even if he could, he no longer can punch and submit as fast as he once did. The Fedor of 2004 is invincible, IMO. If you brough him to fight JDS today, he would take him to the ground and submit him or outbox him.

The reason Fedor seems to be older is because he has been fighting since 2000 in pro mma, and also does judo championships and 3 different world class sambo compitions aswell as fight training aswell. Several cuts and blows to the head adds up over the years and scarred tissue not only hurts more but cuts easilly, it all adds up.

For example Mike Tyson has squandered his winnings, assaulted people in public, made an ass of himself in the media, served prison terms. I have no factual evidence but I can imagine from his interviews that he would score fairly low in terms of literacy. Brett Rogers post interview reminds me of Eddie Murphy's Larry Holmes impression.

He made good money fighting in pride, but his marketability has been damaged bigtime by losing twice already since coming here, and not having made it to the UFC yet. He was without a doubt the best heavyweight on the planet for nearly a decade. The problem is that most MMA fans in America never got to see him fight, except for a few times on youtube. I wish he came here 5 years ago.

The reason Fedor seems to be older is because he has been fighting since 2000 in pro mma, and also does judo championships and 3 different world class sambo compitions aswell as fight training aswell. Several cuts and blows to the head adds up over the years and scarred tissue not only hurts more but cuts easilly, it all adds up.

The following held UFC heavyweight belts; Nogueira, Arlovski, Randleman, Coleman. Other big names include Mirko, Goodridge, Semmy, Arona, Lindland, Hong-man. Watch some fights and maybe some interviews, you may be pleasantly suprised on what you missed out on. :)
