I agree to a certain extent, but this child is not your Britney Spears, who in my opinion really has not business singing. This child is top notch. She's not singing rap crap or hip hop trash. Cooster815 is correct. There is no such thing as a ten year old opera singer...and if her parents don't stop hawking her like a piece of pop culture meat, she'll never be one. Thousands of ten year olds have angelic voices and if they have true pitch, they can sing. They simply haven't learned an aria. Americans are generally ignorant t when it comes to anything remotely classical...starting with the judges on the circus, "America[s Got Talent" . Ahhhh.... pop culture
Just listening to this fills my heart to overflowing. I've never really liked opera. So, why now? Well, I listened to the same aria as sung by seasoned professionals. The pros have extensively trained, high horse-power voices. When a pro gets a-hold of one of these arias, it like having it sung by an air-raid siren. The delicate nuances of the melody are lost and the lyrics are obscured in the high decibel wail of the professional voice. Thus rendering the emotive power of the passage impotent.
It looks like she might be lip sinking, but it is not allowed on the show. Someone taught her to sing very deep from the diaphram, which takes hours and hour of practice to get to this level. When the voice comes from within the diaphram, it gives the visual appearance that it is not coming from the mouth, but from somewhere else. Amazing
@movinsouth29 I'm white and a "hater". She has too much tension in her jaw and is darkening her voice by pulling her tongue back as she sings. Her voice is pretty, but we only hear her actual voice for a few seconds. my husband sings opera, and teaches others as well, so I know what I am talking about. If she wants a career, wait until after puberty, because female voices change too. Where is Charlotte Church now? Wrong training + puberty= no adult career.

@krgresh - You're right. My wife doesn't have any first-hand experience in professional music. Her information is limited to what I have told her. And considering I am a professional opera singer; I have a doctorate in voice performance; and I am an internationally published author of a textbook on how to sing...I believe I know what I am talking about. EVERYTHING that my wife said about Jackie Evancho is correct. There is no such thing as a ten-year old opera singer.
