Keep your finger out of the trigger guard until you wish to discharge the weapon.
It's much safer if you train yourself to keep your finger out of that trigger guard. Your index finger ( trigger finger ) should remain straight and stiff and be pointing towards the muzzle and be resting on the slide. This for all facets of firearm handling whether it be removing your weapon from a holster or changing mags. Always keep your finger out of the trigger guard. The basics.
Yeah because that's a good enough reason not to exercise proper firearm safety.. You know, bad habits carry over, and some day you may do that with the real deal and it may go BANG and someone might hit the floor and you will be like OMG I don't know how that happened!
