  • u kinda sound like this dude i seen on show. MTV Made

  • I could take this more seriously if the buttons weren't colored in it and if you hadn't burped in it. Maybe fewer stickers. I can't wait to see you on rock band 3. Real midi controllers.

  • very shitty video and very stupid guy

  • This would be cool if it weren't some neckbeard who burps into a microphone and plays random notes.

  • Nerd!!! U really should learn to play real insrtument!!

  • nooob

  • this guy sounds like the dad from Little People Big World.

  • geek but interesting! should have said more at the midi device.

  • There is also a VST pluggin that actually lets you use the GH controller to emulate a real guitar, not just trigger samples.

    searcvh: Armchair Guitarist VST

  • That just, flat out, wasn't funny. At all...

  • I love how this video has low ratings because the guy is a dork.

But then again, he didn't even explain how to do this, just said you can, which is pretty lame.

But that wasn't the point of the video. Still, this is cool

  • you seem drunk or something man. lol

  • rofl he grossed

  • how do u get midi instruments in ableton cause i cant find out like how do u get midi patches??

  • Okay, on fucking and dick, there's a "c" in both words. Learn English.

  • its called slang m8 ever head of it??? il talk and spell how i like bitch. im saying all this shit becuase this guy is being just fukin stupid.

  • Yes, I have heard of slang. But fuk is not slang, it's retard speak.

And if you say dik twice, it's actually some African deer thingy.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with this guy being a geek. It's his life. Live and let live. If you think he's so stupid, why post so many times in a row saying dumb things on his video?

Oh yeah, you have no live :\

  • *life

    I hate typos.

  • FAIL!

  • are you drunk?

  • you are so retarded

  • Why did you even watch this in the first place if you were just gonna say that -_-

  • nobody asked for your opinion... god! the assholes these days

  • omg nerd

  • soooo with the ps2 to usb, i could get gh3 for ps2 and use the convertor to play it on ps3 soo i dont have to spend more money getting the ps3 version?

  • i thought he was 12 until the very end... now im scared.

  • wow let go of ur balls man let them drop u sound really bad and look a nerd man no lie

  • nerd

  • that sucks because you only have 5 buttons!

  • FAILED!

  • As for Tanner4105, please realize the game makers made the game to get people to take more of an interest in playing the guitar. If you like music where the driving force is the guitar, you really should learn, for your own enjoyment. Download "Rock Bottom" By UFO to see what a guitar hero sounds like, maybe you'll be inspired. If you reply, please for the love of all that is good and holy, do not dis that song. It was the first song I ever heard, and the reason I play guitar..........

    RIP Kelly

  • Alright look hears my big Idea that's been brewing for quite some time now. The idea is to actually play a song on the guitar and have the output of a guitar hero controller. The rule is if you hit the right notes on the guitar (at the time indicated) the pickup has already been programed to expect it (at that time) and if comes, it outputs a color to the console. Tons of programming would be required to have the pickup change color outputs for so many inputted notes, but with technology today.

  • obviously I couldn't fit my full post so here's the rest. The purpose of the aforementioned idea, is for a guitar player to perfect the timing of songs they already know, not to mention it would be super fun. Not for the majority of people though, considering most people play the smoke on the water intro and think they're a guitar god. This Idea will most likely(99.9999999%) not come to fruition, but I think it's a cool idea for some rich eccentric.

  • how did you make it sound like a guitar and not a piano i dont get it

  • a better question is why?...

  • i thought it said "piano and not a guitar" =P

  • i rather play the real guitar

  • or you could show some effort and learn how to play a real guitar instead of a plastic piece of crap.... just a thought

  • Maybe instead of bitching about how someone can learn to play guitar, YOU could take a second to learn the basic principles of MIDI. But wait, clearly, according to your post, you know what's best.

  • ...even if that was a good point, why would u use a guitar hero controller. call me crazy but havin only five keys is just dumb...

  • I think if somebody utilized it as a performance piece, it'd be cool and/ or interesting. Have it trigger certain samples, similar to the way some hip hop groups bring children's toys on stage to make beats.

  • oh ok, haven't noticed (not much of a hip-hop fan =P)

  • it doesn't look very useful...at all...

  • nerd much?

  • lo fucking l is you voice a joke? XD so funny

  • GET OUT OF YOUTUBE

  • your the biggest tool in the toolshed. so whack off to some midi mags

  • thats not very nice thing to say, you should be ashamed of yourself. lol. but seriously stfu.

  • best video on youtube. five stars.

  • You're a nob.

  • lmfao no offense but it sounds like someone is like playing on a keyboard sounds to fake also not to cool but make guitar hero sory make drums for guitar hero then u got something like that otha guy

  • NERD!

  • what the shit was that at the end

  • fucking nube!

  • get a life

  • Grow a dick.

  • hahahahahahah awesome i agree

  • I am sorry for ur lack of a life

  • this is nice :)

  • ha that burp was so forced n fake

    sory

  • haha what a faggot

  • do u live with ur mom?

  • Where did you get that USB converter?

  • would this work with the PS2 wireless guitar controllers?

  • the guitar hero guitar dosent have a button for every note so you cant play flat or sharp notes which is very limeting why use that when a controller keybord could do the job twice as well

  • ...because he can.

why wouldn't you use a dvorak keyboard over your qwerty keyboard, the dvorak keyboard is far more efficient.

  • But a Guitar Hero controller isn't more efficient than a real guitar.

  • Thats a matter of opinion. Some would say a guitar isnt as efficient of an instrument as a piano. If a person knows what he is doing with the tools provided for him, efficiency is a matter of opinion.

  • But a piano (or synthesizer) has a few more keys/buttons than a GH controller. Sure, you could program some sequences on a GH controller and play them back by pressing different button combinations, but you could also do the same type of thing with a real guitar and a MIDI pickup. If you compare the number of buttons on a GH controller to the number of notes on a guitar with MIDI, you could do far more. Not to mention you can strum a real guitar.

  • And a piano (or synthesizer) can cost hundreds of not thousands more than a GH controller. And a MIDI pickup and a real guitar will costs thousands more! :D So shut the fuck up.

  • Yeah, it _can_ cost hundreds or thousands more, but it won't if you look for something cheap. And a MIDI pickup and guitar certainly wouldn't cost thousands more, unless the guitar by itself costs thousands in the first place.

Hell, if money is the problem then you could just buy a used PS1 controller from GameStop for $1 and you would get more MIDI functionality out of that than a GH controller.

  • The concept is awesome.

The demonstration...not so much, I'm afraid.

Still, it'll be cool if this concept makes its way into the original games these controllers are meant for.

  • why are you?

  • What the hell? That doesn't even make any sense.

  • While it's pretty awesome that you could set a guitar up this way, I wish that he had a vague sense of melody and/or rhythm. His demonstrations hurt my ears.

  • I get the impression that playing an actual guitar would be much easier. :/

Can someone who tried both prove me right/wrong?

  • I actualy think this is pretty cool. I see the future of games like Guitar Hero having controllers with more frets, and the ability to mix, record, then play your own songs. This seems like the first baby step in that direction, though with how fast technology moves, i wouldn't be surprised to see it perfected in the next five years or so. Kudos to this dude for trying this out, even if is is a bit, how shall we say, socialy inept? I still think it's pretty cool.

  • i remeber a game on playstation one where you could mix your own songs. i thought it was really cool, but no-one else seems to remember it...

  • MTV Music Generator for the PS1, AWESOME program

  • I disagree, simply for the fact that the more complex it becomes, the less fun and/or more intimidating it becomes for people.

  • NICE

my question is, with this software, is there any way for a different state on say, the strum key, to change that? so a set of chords for neutral, a set for held down, a set for held up? that would give just enough range to be a decent instrument.

  • "yeah boy whoa!...(unitelligable grunts)"

    Aspergers indeed.

  • Ahh, Aspergers at its finest.

  • Haha, that single comment made my day.

  • Came for the penny arcade....

    Stayed for the crazy guy....

    So funny at the end.

  • Same here lol.

  • this site has now been Wanged.

  • Or, or.... ORRRR!

  • I lol'd hard at the end, haha~ Awesome~

  • Penny Arcade linked me here! wooohooo...

  • Win.

  • linked by Penny Arcade, congratulations!

  • Linked to on Penny Arcade. Good job.

  • Okay, good idea, but don't be such a douche going about it and show the people that it can play a real song so we can take this seriously.

  • or.. or.. or OR.. lol!

  • this video is hilarious! but on a serious note, are any other drivers or software needed. i want to try it out with reason software. thanks man, and good work!

  • If you've got a Wii GH3 controller you can use one of the myriad Wiimote/PC interfaces out there - GlovePIE springs to mind as I'm pretty sure it allows you to direct MIDI events.

On the other hand, I'm in the middle of designing a Wiimote-MIDI interface for the Mac for pretty much the exact same reason.

  • Just because you have no idea how to use a computer, doesn't give you any reason to call some one a nerd. Also this is the internet. It's run by 98.9% of Nerds/Geeks/Hackers. Also learn how to properly type using the English language.

  • English, please.

  • "obvisouly ur" reason is infallible.

  • Wow, it appears to me that You are a complete and total tit. (dontknowme)

Get a life don't insult someone because they can do something you can't, or because you're just a simpleton tit and you think insulting people is funny. Get a life.

  • Well looks like another troll got his way.

    Hooray internet!

  • You must be new to the internet.

  • How can I do this? I know I can bind the keys on the guitar with different wavs. However, for some reason my wavs are really slow and I can't play two at the same time. Please help!!!

  • lol at 0:11

  • wut program is that

  • Dude that burp was manly! VERY MANLY!

  • Hey it's Kermit the Frog

  • I give up. How did you get ableton to recognize that guitar as a midi controller? I been googling for like 3 hours trying stuff.

  • no its not

  • Awesome. but please tell me that not how you actually talk
