I have over 600 french songs by various artists never heard this before only in english in the late 50,s will now look for a cd of her singing in french.
une belle chanson
Just back fom france, agde where the sun always seems to shine unlike here
The english version of "The Day That The Rains Came Down" reached number one in the UK charts for one week in January 1959. It was recorded on the London label. a FANTASTIC SONG SUNG BY A FANTASTIC VOICE.
I had no idea that Jane Morgan was such an accomplished French singer. Her diction is perfect with almost no trace at all of an English accent. She is truly a remarkable woman. And she deserves credit for making it an international hit.
he French version of "The Days The Rains Came Down" posted at the request of "PutOnASweater" recorded in 1958 and the flip side of the english version.
Hi Chester10....Stil listening to this great song a year since you posted it for me. I get a lump in my throat ever time I hear this...I can't tell you how much I love this song
I met Miss Morgan in the summer of 1960, at Blueberry Hill in Maine. She is such a wonderful, lovely person. I love this song, both the English and French versions. Thanks SOOO much for posting this.
A wonderful french version. I still have this version ( one side in english - the day the rains came - and the other in french ) in the 48's but I don't have the grammaphone and I couldn't play it..... Thanks a lot to whom put it in Youtube. Gualtiero Italy
Jane is married to Movie Producer Jerry Weinbraub...a number I saw Jerry being honored at a B'na B'rith Man of The Year Award...Jane performed and was Excellent...the others who entertained were John Denver and Frank Sinatra...they weren't too bad either!
I've still got this 45 single. Love it just as much now as back in '58.
It's a much stronger performance, to my ear, than the single for her signature tune "Fascination."

2ième partie (suite)

La triste, triste terre rouge qui craque, craque à l'infini;
