As much as I agree I have always held some resentment for Clinton for not be stronger in his convictions when dealing with terrorists. Had he attacked and then explained in plain terms to the American people that it had nothing to do with the scandal, chances are that most people would have believed him, and as he was in his second term the risks to the party would have been minimal. He showed so much moxy in other areas, his withering in this instance was that much more disappointing.

good grief..the federal budget deficit total (borrowed) is now nearly $9 TRILLION, ie, $40,000 for every human in the US. The yearly interest on that is $5,000 per human.

Rachel's OK, but suffers from the typical liberal ailment of having very little backbone. Poor girl also isn't very good at doing the comedy thing, either. You can practically hear crickets every time she tries to tell a joke. :(

He thought that doing so would only lead to the right skewering him for taking military action only to deflect the public eye from his extra-marital affair. As much as I agree I have always held some resentment for Clinton for not be stronger in his convictions when dealing with terrorists. Had he attacked and then explained in plain terms to the American people that it had nothing to do with the scandal, chances are that most people would have believed him, and as he was in his second term the risks to the party would have been minimal. He showed so much moxy in other areas, his withering in this instance was that much more disappointing.

What was done with the MCA (and the John Warner Defense Act that NO ONE talks about) has made this possible: the President has the ability to declare Martial Law now with just the Sec. of Defense signing off on it. The Japanese American young men all joined the Services. In San Francisco only old men and old ladies with possibly some strong ties to their mother land. Every ship that went to the Pacific when under the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge can be seen for miles and from many places. A carrier or liberty ship goes under the bridge and one person sends a radio code and the ships are targeted and sunk. It's a thousand to one but someone could do that and we loose 3000 on each carrier.

Are you serious? Communism is where the State controls all aspects of the economy in order to distrubite the wealth evenly. Communists see the market Facisim (Italian Facisim) is less defined but basically is a basically a mix of a dictatorship, militarism, and corporatism. It is also very important that communism and facisim are mortal enemies and each preach the disturction of each other

struggle of nations to promote strength of Nations, and the individual is secondary to the good of the state (and more recently corporation). Of course in Marxism the individual became secondary to the collective good. So they both wound up being totalitarian, but to say that communism became fascism is to ignore the internal philosophy. They simple approached the same destination from different directions. Of course to those locked up and being tortured, those distinctions are unimportant. :)

God *laughs* what a question. I don't know. I'm just a very amateur historian, though I confess I tend to choose to play the Germans in any WW2 computer game. G. Edward Griffin argues that history should be viewed not in terms of right vs left but Individualism vs Collectivism and that kind of where I lean. Both fascism and Communism are collective solutions.
I think really that you have to walk a tightrope between all extremes. Thats the healthy thing to do and also take what is good from all

What is an unlawful enemy combatant? Someone without a uniform? With a state stamped piece of paper declaring oneself to be a soldier.
The disregard the Bush hawks had for decency showed the cavalier attitude that they had for all around them from Hurricane Katrina, Guantanamo Bay, Invasion and Dissolution of Iraq's infastructre. instead they drum up fears about China's "artifically low currency", phoney threats from Iran and Syria and encourage torture. good grief..the federal budget deficit total (borrowed) is now nearly $9 TRILLION, ie, $40,000 for every human in the US. The yearly interest on that is $5,000 per human.
Then there's the trade debt, which is qbout $11, Trillion, and the unfunded social programs US government owes it's leaches of about $61 TRILLION, that no one knows where the money will come from to cover.
