Hi guys! Love the video! I am from Syria & what if i told you that there is one of these beauties here in Damascus, color red. I've been drooling over this car since i was a teenager back in 1980, where it was sitting idle, dreaming of cruising in it as Elvis Presley did back in the 50's (although he never had a '59!). I later found out that it is one of only 1320 made back then, & it ended up somewhere in Syria in 1959, when there were only 5K cars in the entire country. Got pics to prove it!
@abulmeez Wow it is incredible how many 1959 Cadillacs end up in out of the ordinary places. England, Australia, Sweden, even Japan but I have never heard about a 1959 Cadillac in Syria. Thank you for telling us about that. I will be uploading a rare 1959 Cadillac video featuring a Red one with 4 bucket seats. Two in front, two in back, so keep checking the channel or even subscribe.
@baritonebynight I actually know a guy who, when he gets in a fight with his wife, instead of sleeping on the couch, he goes to his garage and sleeps in his 1959 Cadillac Eldorado. No Joke. LOL
@marantz7 That's right Made back when "Made in America" meant something. The pride isn't what it use to be. It has become working for the pay check and not the pride we once had.
@EdGomide All the American car companies have released retro looking vehicles like the PT Cruiser and a few other cars. One would think some company would come up with a kit, or a manufacturer would come out with a 59 Cadillac with upgraded technology, but I am not holding my breath.
@talfacprez Even when the American car companies realize the earlier designs were far better and they decide to do a retro-model they end up screwing it up. Like the over-priced $40K 2000 T-Bird that was supposed to take us back to the '55 - '57 T-Bird. It was a flop because it didn't look like the original. Then there is the new Challenger, not a bad looking car but not near the classic style of a 1970 Challenger. The new Mustang finally looks good again but not as good as a 69 or 70 Mach 1.
@andrewduhmetroid It depends on the condition, and how complete it is. 25,000 sounds fair for a non Biarritz Eldorado. If that is the price look it over really good, check to see what number match the serial number, and what has been replaced.
I remember those cars when I was a youngster, one of my Uncle's used to sell Cadillac's, they were special cars way back when, this is a nice example of the 50's Cadillac's...wish I had one.
@smellytoilet1996 - when I was growing up, one of my Uncles was a saleman at a Cadillac dealer, I used to see the new models before they were released to the public...back then they were delivered completely covered on the truck, so no one could see them...that was a treat.
@JOHNINCOLUMBUS My brother has told me similar stories. He worked for a guy who had a Cadillac dealer in Terre Haute Indiana. Every year my brother and a couple other guys from the dealer had to go to Indianapolis and pick up the new Cadillac and drive it back to the dealer. GM would put all kinds of plastoc pieces and odd coloring on each car to disguise it until it's official reveal.
The auction was 2 years ago when the economy was better, and my camera didn't really do it justice. My brother saw it on the auction block at Auburn (Fall 2009) and yes the owner did get screwed because the bid never got anywhere near $208,000.
If you have plenty of money there is no over paying for THIS...... ride...! That car is a privilege to drive... If its authentic its worth that..... the question mr expert and namecaller is...... Are YOU even worth 208,000. Im guessing you dont have much money at all and thats why you overvalue 200,000$
No fuckin' mercedes, bmw, audi, or bentley or rolls, however u call it! Just and only the AMERICAN classics! Long live the Cadillac and all American cars! Oh, poor Pontiac gonna be no more,'cause GM is havin financial problems.
There are only a few real classic Mercedes like the gull wing, but you don't see classic Audi or BMW. Classic Rolls and Bentley are so expensive they don't seem to do well at auctions. The owners don't get nearly the return and end up losing money on them. Cadillac always seems to be a crowd pleaser.
awesome car... and just my kind of car if i could afford it... no ferrari, bentley or something... just a big ol' cady (or chevy, it doesn't really matter)
i thank you yanks....fore your grand parents and great grand parents, who have made not only 59 caddirado but looooots of great great cars. i am a amcar kinda guy from Norway and in my small town its a culture whit amcars, lots of days when the streets are jammed with old school living n cruising ;) and its perfect, couldn`t think of living somewhere else....jett again thanks....those old cars are VERRY good. exept in winter times expecialy here in Norway x)....rock n roll is here to stay....
beutiful car just aaahh.....i remember the first time i drove a 59 cadillac....bah it was lots of snow and shit but it was funny to cous we switch tires to some with spikes on almoust a cm. then it just ???? i dont know...slides like a boat whitch are getting big round waves behind from the one corner kinda x) i driven lots of cars but that was coooool. no stress feelings when you feel that heavy rear end just working up the road in a S formation aaah just lovely x)
I Love these Cars, this is my most favored one. I am 18 years old and most young people today love ferrari's and lambos (Fast Cars), but this car is "the" Ultimate Luxary American Car of its time.
All those fast cars are expensive to own, and drive. The old Cadillacs will always be more affordable to drive. More people from every age group appreciate these classic cars than your exotic super car friends.
There was a replica kit car for the Cord for years, but it looked cheesy. Most replica cars are a body on an existing frame and power plant. The Cord was based on a Ford frame. There isn't a manufacturer who makes a frame as large as a 1959 Cadillac requires. The more parts the replica company has to make the more expensive the car will be. ... and let's face it. I don't think any replica would come close to a 1959 Cadillac.
What Happened?? 72 months financing. The car companies have stretched out financing, and letting people roll their balances over into another car, until nobody can buy another car because they are so upside down in what they are driving they can't get another car until they finally pay what they have off.
The plan worked for immediate sales increases. but it killed the long term sales, and now they are in BIG trouble. You can't blame Bush for this mess.
I can't decide whether or not I like the special chrome trim down the side of the car back to the tailfins. I believe this was a feature of the more expensive models. I'm just not sure that it adds anything to the overall looks. Without the trim the tailfins seem to blend more with the body.. But heck, I love both styles! This convertible looks especially awesome! It looks even better with gas at $1.70 a gallon instead of $4.25.
