I had this movie on BETA of all things, dont think it got to vhs which was a pity. I had a massive effect on me. Wish it was still out. Cant remeber its name just the content. Anyone help me on this or is it still available. Amensip
Great film. I thought the movie caught both the fearlessness and despair of Bukowski's world, without resorting to "stylish" Hollywood antics (a la Sam Mendes/David Fincher/Eastwood/and yes even the Cohen Bros - whom I admire)
Bukowski had hated this movie. He had said :" they had betrays my work".

Buk in a "cult" classic (the way he was meant to be).

Better than Barfly IMHO. Barfly didn't explore ordinary madness in the way Ferreri did. It's takes an italian cult film director to do that.

Ben Gazzara with sunglasses and a week beard talking about style while drinking from a wrapped bottle, that's what I call style and art.
