ian dury was the lyricist , singer and frontman for Ian Dury and the blockheads. they had hits with 'sex and drugs and rock n roll', '' hit me with your rhythm stick'' and ''reasons to be cheerful(part 3)''. they were a popular punk/funk/new wave act, so obviously won't be all that familiar with duran durans back catalogue (DD were new romantics, and both bands tours would've been on at the same time back in the late 70's, early 80's). hope that. helps

His music wasn't played in this country because punk was an evil evil thing here. So Ian, Jools, Eno etc, to name a few of many, aren't known in the states.

no problem. it's a bit of a shame really, even if a band back then wasn't even punk rock, a lot of them still got lumped into that category and they had to wait a few years for the craze to sort of die down. ian passed away a few years ago unfortunately, but the blockheads are still touring - i've seen them twice :). glad to have helped.
