  • my friend and I want to go to isla de mujeres for min 2 weeks with our girls but is there a more secluded part of the island we could stay where it would be just us 4 so we can drink eat make fires play music with out anyone around?

  • @rabbitb2003-Come on now. Let's be respectful Some people on here just mentioned how much love Isla Mujeres so comparing it to a "pigsty" could be rather insulting..I'm sure we could all agree that what you are looking for from a vacation would determine whether or not you should pick Isla Mujeres.

Cancun is live and the party scene is non stop and Isla Mujeres is just a little more laid back...but it's for from a pigsty.

  • Isla is a pigsty compared to Cancun.

  • you have no idea how many memories this brings back.

  • I've spent 1 day on Isla and fell in love. Planning on a wedding for my stepdaughter. Any ideas. Simple and lovely is all.

  • @ricogina92 PS- Just had to say both my sons have taken their new wives and my daughter is hoping for the same! A romantic place, for sure.

  • are there alot of fish in those waters?

  • @TheDarkSideOfJesus --- Yes, but as you might know, you've got to know where the good snorkeling spots are. Beautiful, clear water usually means white sand but no fish areas, such as North beach.......rocks, algae, coral, bridges, sea grass...those are all places fish can find food, shelter and shade so look for those or ask people if you want to see great fish action! Start by asking "where is "King's Bath"...you'll be in awe!

  • @hungarianlime Larry Joe Taylor....

  • Im thinking of going there...just buying the ticket and seeing if I can find some budget accommodation for 3 or 4 weeks...any suggestions?

  • @kunjidee --Regarding just buying a ticket to Isla, go for it- the worse you can do is find a room for 1-2 nites, which gives you a chance to shop around. Usually if you tell them you are staying a week or more, that's music to their ears! I can count 7 places we've stayed, and only one would I not go back to (we stayed one nite while we waited for an opening elsewhere) Top reasonable pics: Posada del Mar, Maria del Mar, Vistalmar.

  • Friends- I've added "whale sharks" to my tags because Isla is a stone's throw from Isla Holbox and my friend Jorge De La O can take you to see them. If you don't know about the largest fish known to man, and snorkeling with them, you need to do a google search "whale shark isla mujeres" or pick up the latest Smithsonian mag with a photo of one on the front this month!

have watched this countless times...thanks so much for putting it on. we were in Isla last february and can"t wait to go back. just hope it doesn"t become too much more commercial...love the song too.

  • LOVED THIS! One of my favorites. Recognized all the places. Thank you so much. Can't wait to go back

  • cant wait for my second trip

  • Thank you. Going a second time this winter for seven weeks. Even then I know that will not be enough time. So much enjoyment to be had on one small island. Love the people!!! We stay in La Gloria and walk daily to Playa Norte to justify the daily cerveza at Sergios. Cheers!

  • ahhhhhhhhh, thankyou, i needed that! this year will be 22 for us...simply the best. Karina and Carlos (usually stay upstairs from chi-chi & charlies)

  • Thanks everyone for watching. Please add your favorite thing about Isla, if you have had the chance to go there!

  • @lauracatherwood

Thanks for showing this. I've been going to the island for the past 10 years. I'll be there again 6 months from now. My first vacation anywhere was to Isla Mujeres and I just stumbled upon it doing a search for things to do around Cancun. I used to stay at Posada, but now I stay at Maria del Mar. You can't beat Posada's location tho.

  • Thanks so much for this video! We are going for our first time, and this video has made us even more excited about our trip. Great pics, and great music.... Thanks - Marika

  • Have you ever had trouble getting to King's Bath? The more I read up on it, the more I hear that sometimes Avalon wont allow "non-guests" in. Have you ever had that problem?

  • We used to be "carded" at the bridge, but since the economy tanked for everyone (including Avalon), you just need to walk on by and no one has questioned us in recent years..they want the business. If you look like you don't belong, they probably are going to talk to you, tho, so blend in and be polite. Just tell them your plans if they do bug you... after all, it's a world treasure, not theirs.

  • Looks like you were staying at or visiting Posada Del Mar.What do you think of the place?

  • My favorite on the island. You can go cheaper (Vistalmar is my favorite for that), but having the beach out front, the pool and close to downtown is a trifecta you can't beat.

  • There are SO many reasons why I love isla!!! great video! how do i can my hands on this song?

  • YAY Isla Mujheres!! My folks live there!! :) THe best place ever!!

  • *sings

  • wow! great video! we are going back to Isla to get married in March. i LOVE that song!!!! who signs it?

    thanks~

  • Larry Joe Taylor wrote and sang it, and guess what...he was on Isla a few weeks ago playing with the local band! Blessings on your wedding!

  • thanks so much! i bet he has alot of great songs~ im going to google him.

    :)

  • I see some places that look like Sunset Grill....but what was the bar at 2:40? The one that the bar is hanging over the water? I'm going back for my third trip to Isla Mujeres next year, and I have GOT to get to that bar.

  • That bar with seats hanging over the water is right at the elbow curve as you are going to North beach... Infront of the light house, infront of Sergio's beach bar. Go and enjoy it! Then head down to Buho's at the other side of North Beach, too.

  • Thanks for the info! Now, I'm curious at 9:00...where is that? I was there about a month ago, and I looked all over the island for that spot, and could NOT find it. Some of your pictures look EXACTLY like some of the ones I took the last time I was there.

  • That is a hidden gem...Piscina del Rel (The King's Bath or King's Pool) on the penensula of the Avalon Hotel. walk across bridge at 6:12 to Avalon, turn left, take the deck across the front of their restaurant, past the beach,go to villas sidewalk til you see "King's Bath"(6:31) and take the walkway. It is more or less public area. Definitely bring your mask & crackers or chips for the fish- it's like swimming in an aquarium!

  • If you want to see the island, and not a golf cart tour, check this out.
