Fast Only Running Downhill. No seriously though, I have a Trans Am with a 454. I love all American Muscle, I run alot with Cobras, they are alot of fun to race and ride in. Alot of them are really fast, although I do hate the 99-04 GTs, they do get annoying and alot of Cobra owners admit to this as well.

@EZFI ok if you want to get technical my buddies 01 ws6 ran a 12.97 bone stock on street tires, deejays 02 ss ran a 12.89 on street tires with a filter. heck my 00 t/a ran a 13.1 with a filter and a ported tb spinning in first. ive seen it plent of times. it does happen

Easier to work on the ls1 for those of us who do our own work. Pulling the dohc 4.6 out of a mustang was not fun when I helped my buddy, those things are fucking huge. Seemed bigger than a 454 big block. Then when you get to taking it apart,,,,, Nvm that, I'd rather work on the ls1, end of story lol.
@onebadbarron04 No, the 95 had an lt1. I was just stating how I converted. The lt1 converted me way back in the day, but I was completely sold when I got my hands on an ls1. That's all I was saying. I definitely know these motors down to casting number differences on the heads etc.

I just recently got my ls1 cause I bought another 95, but a TA this time, which I still have. But before that i got to experience the ls1 in a 02 firehawk that blew my mind. My buddy dyno'd 321 at the wheels completely 100% stock which in 03 that was mind boggling to me. That was when my love for fbody grew. But I still like both. Muscle cars period.

@Brandon01ford1 lol first and for most engine size has nothing to do with anything secondly the z06 runs mid to low 11's all day and i wont even get into the zr1 . as for the little 4.6 thats actually larger in over all size the the supposedly HUGE 5.7 and weighs more also isnt actually so small with a blower on top and being DOHC. and up until 2002 the ls1 owned the mustang gt which is what it was priced beside and meant to compete with the cobra created in 03 had no camaro counterpart in 03
@yfzfofitty06 engine size does matter, but not nearly as much as the gain from overhead cam, with the added cams and valves. A dohc head is going to flow better regardless at the end of the day unless its a complete piece of shit. You can open the bore and lengthen the stroke all you want but if you can't get the mixture into the cylinder, its of no use. The ls1 head however for being 16 valve. does a fine job of it. But still doesn't flow as well as the 32 valve 4.6 head.
@Feenyxxx95 yea in terms of weight it matters not in terms of liters and no an 16 head will not flow like a DOC 32v head but each has ups and dwns have you seen the power curve on the ls7?
@yfzfofitty06 we are talking about power gains from increased cubic inches right? Cause if that's the case, I know it doesn't do "much" but it does broaden the torque curve, and the old rule of thumb was 1.1-1.2 hp per cubic inch, obviously its going to be higher or lower depending on the top end of the motor, but the old rule of thumb was 1.1-1.2. And yeah I've seen the ls7 curve, its pretty healthy with 350+ ft lbs at 1.5k rpm lol. and stays above 350 to redline. 450+ hp before the dropoff.

@ROBBY639 I said GM is faster. The fastest car I own is a cam and heads big block 71 Buick Skylark that turns a 9.70 @ 139 mph. And the Judge is no big deal...looks great, but not that fast of a hauler. The fastest cars coming out of Detroit in those days was the 70 Stage II GSX which I own and the LS6 454 70 Chevelle. I own a Pontiac Trans Am too and have owned several over the years. I also own a 69 RS Z/28 survivor w/no problems and I have owned lots of other Camaros w/no probs. GM rules.

The new 2010 GT mustang is no where compatible with the 2010 Camaro SS, I think the V6 Rally Sports can even compete with the new GT's. Mustangs are and always have been, the standard sports car. Thats why their cheap and the production numbers are high.

In fact the m/t mod makes it faster than basic bolt ons. (intake exhaust etc) Lets see a stock ls1 run 12s without m/t's.

- The late 60s and early 70s Camaros and Mustangs were pretty much equals and were awesome.
- The mid-late 70s Mustangs and Camaros both sucked equally.
- 1980s Camaros sucked compared to 80s Mustangs. The fox 5.0 ruled the 80s.
- From 93-02 the Camaro dominated hard (LT1 and LS1).

The mustang outsold camaro and firebird back in the day 3/1 because of the mustangs "practicality". In other words, it was a better grocery getter. Now the camaro is currently outselling the mustang in overall sales and has been since it released. And 32 valves 4 cams vs 1 cam 16 valves wasn't his excuse. it was a fact. @Feenyxxx95 ok I can't say "love" them both, I was a big 5.0 fan as a kid, but I sold my 90 GT for a 95 formula 6 speed, and never looked back, especially after the ls1. Easier to work on the ls1 for those of us who do our own work. Pulling the dohc 4.6 out of a mustang was not fun when I helped my buddy, those things are fucking huge. Seemed bigger than a 454 big block. Then when you get to taking it apart,,,,, Nvm that, I'd rather work on the ls1, end of story lol.

I just recently got my ls1 cause I bought another 95, but a TA this time, which I still have. But before that i got to experience the ls1 in a 02 firehawk that blew my mind. My buddy dyno'd 321 at the wheels completely 100% stock which in 03 that was mind boggling to me. That was when my love for fbody grew. But I still like both. Muscle cars period.

@Brandon01ford1 lol first and for most engine size has nothing to do with anything secondly the z06 runs mid to low 11's all day and i wont even get into the zr1 . as for the little 4.6 thats actually larger in over all size the the supposedly HUGE 5.7 and weighs more also isnt actually so small with a blower on top and being DOHC. and up until 2002 the ls1 owned the mustang gt which is what it was priced beside and meant to compete with the cobra created in 03 had no camaro counterpart in 03

@yfzfofitty06 engine size does matter, but not nearly as much as the gain from overhead cam, with the added cams and valves. A dohc head is going to flow better regardless at the end of the day unless its a complete piece of shit. You can open the bore and lengthen the stroke all you want but if you can't get the mixture into the cylinder, its of no use. The ls1 head however for being 16 valve. does a fine job of it. But still doesn't flow as well as the 32 valve 4.6 head.

Cause if that's the case, I know it doesn't do "much" but it does broaden the torque curve, and the old rule of thumb was 1.1-1.2 hp per cubic inch, obviously its going to be higher or lower depending on the top end of the motor, but the old rule of thumb was 1.1-1.2. And yeah I've seen the ls7 curve, its pretty healthy with 350+ ft lbs at 1.5k rpm lol. and stays above 350 to redline. 450+ hp before the dropoff.

And the Judge is no big deal...looks great, but not that fast of a hauler. The fastest cars coming out of Detroit in those days was the 70 Stage II GSX which I own and the LS6 454 70 Chevelle. I own a Pontiac Trans Am too and have owned several over the years. I also own a 69 RS Z/28 survivor w/no problems and I have owned lots of other Camaros w/no probs. GM rules.

@silver03SVT truth of the matter is, ive never seen a pregnant mexican with two carseats in the back with screaming beaners yelling about taco bell, in the back of a camaro, but a mustang, i unfortunately have. The new 2010 GT mustang is no where compatible with the 2010 Camaro SS, I think the V6 Rally Sports can even compete with the new GT's. Mustangs are and always have been, the standard sports car. Thats why their cheap and the production numbers are high.

And if you had any idea what you were talking about Ford Didn't release the 5.0 in 2010, they just released it a couple months ago genius. When chevy can keep producing an affordable sports car as long as the mustang has been around then maybe chevy could talk. And don't even start comparing the corvette to the mustang. Oh, and try taking your car to altitude, see how badass you think it is

@The73Pontiac Hey, got a question for you. So now that Ford has just blown the doors off of dodge and gm's beloved muscle cars, what is next? Are those monkey ass engineers over there just going to put a bigger engine in next year? Seems to me that maybe they should pull their heads out of their asses and actually do some R&D. Bigger is not always better. And that is now a proven fact with the Coyote 5.0

@silver03SVT ford clearly went from 4.6 to 5.0 making there engine BIGGER to get MORE power.....idk if you know but the new 5.0 is just a stroked 4.6 with extra goodies like piston oilers and camphasers. oh and gm's ls7 500hp 490ft lbs and 29mpg....i think gm engineers are doing pretty good. and no shit ford is ganna be on top they were the last one to make a new pony car, they got to see the compitition then build so now dodge and chevy are comin back. its just a cycle dont get your pannies wet

@silver03SVT what exactly is blowing the doors off of gm's? the super snake? yes i suppose your right then on that one, all im saying is that mustangs have and always have been the standard for what someone would badge to be a sports car, gm has always been in good competition with ford but what happened from 73-81 compared with the mustang and the trans am? and then 82-93 with those same vehicles? the 302 and the shelby arent close to within a price for performance ratio comparison with GM.
