I do feel your pain. Last year, I put over 1000 DV tapes onto a computer for editing. The realtime video transfer is a drag, but on the upside, there's a lot less compression than there is with DVD or solid state memory. More time, but you also get more quality. Of course, if you really wanted the utmost in quality, you could really blow time and record onto film. A 30 minute clip would be about a week and a half to process, convert, edit, and go. :-)
1000! dear god! did I read that right?! 1000!!! lol, Rather you than me...I've recently bought myself a new Canon HF 10 camcorder. That records onto SDHC flash memory cards and it takes virtually no time at all to get it from the camcorder to the PC. :)
Yeah, I'm afraid you did hear right, much to my chagrin. 25 weddings x about 20 tapes each = 500 tapes, plus about 50 various projects, each one taking anywhere from 2-10 tapes or more. Realistically, I was probably only paid for doing about 800-900 tapes, but still, that's a lot of tapes!
Cool, I've been working on the stock footage I've got. I have made a 2 part Webisode for uploading onto my xxSniperK2xx channel and stacks of miscelaneous footage for use in my music vids.

I mainly use Flash memory cards now in the new camera, but use the DV cam as a back up.

You've given me an idea. I should invest in stock film and could go out and get me some. I would love to see that sunset footage!

Also, my current channel logo on the xxSniperK2xx channel is one of my pics (it shows the view through the lcd screen on my new camera).
