  • That engine Sounds Like Philippine Jeepney

  • Just throw it in a crusher with that motor in it. Should have put a cummins or Ford or a Duramax Diesel in there, not the old 6.5 Turdo Diesels that chevy made.

  • That's a good job you put a diesel engine in a Chevrolet Corvette and you should check out the YouTube username channel of "ehnriko" a environmentalist from the Philippines.

  • I WANTT!!

  • wow that is awesome

  • cherry picked corvette

  • @TheItalianPerson I hate the sound of complaining jews like u.

  • i hate that diesel idle sound. eww

  • rancher corvette

  • Thats def a 6.5 lol

  • @09ICCE200 lol that's what i thought as soon as I heard the knockin.

  • Why would you put a diesel engine in a Corvette for?

  • @cole3481596 why not

  • @cole3481596 sounds like a mack truck

  • @cole3481596 why not??? Everyone goes small or big block its always good to see someone go different...

  • sounds like a 6.2 GM diesel... awesome engine, sounds like a sack of marbles

  • Diesel is THE answer to high gas prices, In France and some other european coutries, we're using Diesel power since the end of 90's because it's less expensive than gas.

  • @yoshisuowoon not in america gas is by far cheaper than diesel which is stupid! its almost 4.00 a gallon and gas is about 3.40ish.

  • @94civiclxgrey

you can run an IDI diesel engine of cooking oil

  • @falaqdad15 I know i had a 95 chevy 2500 6.5 turbo never ran it on cooking oil but it crossed my mind.

  • @94civiclxgrey

yeah. lemme correct myself, an Indirect injection diesel engine will run best of cooking oil, however with additional filtering and preheating you can safely run a direct injection and common rail engine of cooking oil. lol that was a mouthfull

  • @94civiclxgrey

    haha i kept misspelling "off"

  • ah nice no limits on boosting like on a gas engine! perfect for setting some land speed records! HIGH FIVE on this build!

  • is that a 70's corvertte stingray.... if so that's my dream car /tear. If you had it royal blue with the racing stripes a lot of vettes do I think I'd be in love

  • thats really cool but why diesel?

  • WOW (Let me pick my jaw up off of the floor). I would never in my most craziest of dreams would have thought to mate these two together. "Turbo Diesel engine, meet Corvette body." This is bad ass. How's the traction? With that much torque it's got to be a crazy ride. I love it.

  • next you could put a late 70's v.w. bug engine in a late 70's Cadillac sedan deville.

  • alot better than the 170 hp motor that came in the late 70s vette

  • How many mpg does it get?

  • you know what would of been a lot cooler. if you showed you halling ass with it

  • now that is unique!

  • thats... intresting, im guiessing its a oldsmobile 350 diesel

  • @ryanlarue31

6.5 turbo. they come from GM pickups

  • Jet engines don't burn gasoline moron, they burn kerosene.

  • ive always wanted a 6.2 in a parisienne station wagon

  • Awesome setup. I am in the process of getting a 6.5 swapped into an 80 Camaro. I think it will be pretty sweet. How did you get the brakes to work? Convert to hydroboost or run a vacuum pump?

  • Comment removed

  • why put a diesel in a corvette????

  • @7150285 It most likely has way more torque than its gas engine had, probably gets better fuel economy too, and is probably more durable.

  • @tyIerz06 if that was the case then all sports car will be diesel rather than gasoline......

  • @7150285 And as I said, in the near future, as diesel tech catches up to gasoline tech, you will see more and more production diesel sport cars, and you will love driving them. Compression ignition is inherently superior to spark ignition, and diesel oil contains much great energy per volume than gasoline does.

  • @AmericanThunder ok, go with what u believe but i personally doubt that after a decade or so the fastest car in the world will become a diesel. Not only Diesel is evolving but gasoline as well

  • @AmericanThunder No you won't. Diesel engines have been around for something like 75 years. Electric vehicles are the wave of the future, not diesel -- except in industrial applications and trucking.

  • @chemao1978 Yeah, I know about all the hype of electric powered vehicles lately, because it's "clean" and all that fun stuff, but I think synthetic diesel fuels will be the answer, and it will be available fairly soon.

  • @chemao1978 p.s. The wheel has also been around for a long time, does that mean it's not going to be used in the future? I'd thought advancements such as alloy wheels, run-flat tires, better materials and tread designs, etc etc have made modern day wheels a LOT better than the wheels they were using, in say, ancient Rome. If your statement has truth to it, then diesel won't actually continue to evolve, but will die out, simply because it's been around for a long time. Like the wheel?

  • @AmericanThunder That's an excellent argument. I respect your input. I still stand my ground however, that we will not see any diesel powered, high performance vehicles in the mainstream.

  • @chemao1978 that's the beauty of having a car that isn't mainstream. So tired of all the people rocking common, but good cars and thinking that their car is the be-all end-all. Yeah Chevelle's are nice, Mustangs are great, but gimme something you don't see all the time. Get some Chrysler, Buick, Mercury, or Oldsmobile muscle, or even AMC! Those cars aren't the belly-buttons you see on a nice day and you usually get mass respect from those who truly know about cars.

  • @DJM442 Chrysler, Buick, Mercury, and Oldsmobile? Wow, those are the 4 manufacturers that I would NEVER buy. By the way AmericanThunder; I still say diesel will soon die out.

  • @chemao1978 you obviously have a very narrow taste is cars and I feel sorry for you. All of those manufacturers have lots of great vehicles with unique technologies and looks you just don't see every day. You can't just eat pizza for every meal (Chevelle/Mustang), gotta mix it up and do something different.

  • @DJM442 If "narrow taste in cars" means "dislikes cars that are poorly designed, unreliable, and lacking good ergonomics", then yes I suppose it's narrow... very narrow. Also, I still say diesel is going the way of the dodo. It will be followed shortly by gasoline, and then natural gas -- but natural gas will last for quite a while because we have not exploited that material to the point of ruin yet. More nuclear plants, and electric vehicles, are the next step in the technological evolution.

  • @chemao1978 There are brand new cars that are poorly designed, unreliable, and lacking good ergonomics, so what's your point? Are you just one of those comment trolls who has to bash everything you don't like or agree with? Enjoy cars man regardless of what your "opinion' is of their poor design, unreliability, and lacking of good ergonomics. Every manufacturer doesn't make cars only for you and YOUR picky, NARROW view of what a car should be.

  • @DJM442 I agree that there are shitty cars released all the time. I'm simply stating that in my opinion, pretty much everything made by the previously-mentioned list of companies -- is shit.

  • @chemao1978 Then in MY opinion, you have no business commenting on ANYTHING relating to automobiles if you can't appreciate even the most minute of technological advances and innovations. Go get a book, get online and read about the previously mentioned companies. Granted some aren't around and influencing automobiles as they once were, but EACH of those companies contributed to a lot of what is now considered mainsteam technology in the automobile world.

  • @chemao1978 Not so. Look at Europe and their increased diesel powered car sales volume the last 10 years. Electric powered cars were made over 75 yrs ago as well.

  • @tdibent1 Just because more have been sold doesn't mean it's good. I wager those sales are driven more by fuel economy than anything else.

  • @7150285 Fun?

  • @AmericanThunder Diesel is not for racing or top speed, it's for torques and pulling that's why big trucks and big vehicles uses diesel

  • @7150285 Yeah, believe it or not, I build all kinds of stuff, formerly for a living for too many decades, but now thankfully just as a hobby. We'll see what becomes of diesel technology as it continues to evolve, but I have a feeling you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • @AmericanThunder i can agree with u on that since diesel use to be slow turd but now we have turbo diesels twin turbo diesels and diesel with programmers.....but fastest vehicles in the world will always be a gasoline

  • @7150285 Check out the 350 mph diesel at jcbdieselmax . com

  • @7150285 Lastly, the fastest vehicle on earth isn't fueled by gasoline, it's fueled by kerosene and turbine engines. (Kerosene is actually closer to diesel oil than it is to gasoline) The Thrust SSC went 760+ mph.

  • @AmericanThunder I'm talking about (legal street car) such as the Bugatti Veyron, SSC Aero Ulimate, Bugatti Veyron super sports they all uses gasoline. And so is all the supersonic jets and fastest airplanes in the world. If wanna make a ridiculoulsy fast car then get a rocket car from NASA or something...

  • @7150285 I wasn't referring to production street cars, since the speed limit on most highways is only 55 mph. I was referring to custom vehicles that are built for all out performance. I guess we're into 2 totally different things.

  • @7150285 Jets burn gasoline? No. Jet turbines burn #1 diesel fuel, also called Kerosene.

  • @7150285 If you want to generalize as such, the fastest vehicles in the world are turbine powered, burning #1 diesel fuel, not gasoline. Are you in the New York area? If so, maybe we can arrange a race between your gasoline powered car and my diesel? What sort of car do you drive and how much design time and labor do you have invested in it?

  • @AmericanThunder

Fastest vehicles in the world are rocket powered. Not turbine powered.

  • @Troutbutter - Put a VW TDI in it then... all you hear is turbo.

  • ahahah sounded familliar, the 6.5L TD from chevy, not sure which year, could be 94-98 i think? but awsome!

  • I wouldn't mind diesel so much if it didn't have that annoying clack. I can't see myself sitting in a corvette and hearing that sound making me think I'm in a 18-wheeler. lol

  • Fuck I miss the cackle of my old 6.5

  • Im liking this concept...great idea and I bet not many ppl have a diesel vette!! and a comment respond to heatherandpaul2...I have a 2.2 motor with over 600awhp and it makes that 600hp between 1500 and 8000rpms, also if your talking about gas vs. diesel they are so different its not worth comparing. diesels run at a lower rpm, thats where they make power, if you have the right tune and the right cams you can make your powerband as big as you want and dont need 4 more cyl. to help.

  • so not fake , slap myself

  • I love it and plan to do the same thing except I'm using a 6.2 non-turbo diesel engine. I just finished rebuilding the engine, next I'm looking for a 700r4 overdrive transmission to rebuild and use. I'm trying to achieve high mpg's.

I was wondering what gear ratio are you running in the rear end? I read at the Diesel Page you are getting 40 mpg.

  • that is just awesome......

  • Waht engine is that? the 6.5L turbo diesel? It's very badass. Screw all the diesel sportscar haters!

  • @dieselpower4ever Yep,6.5L

  • I'm sorry, is someone comparing an Eagle Talon to a Diesel-Vette???

  • Nice conversion and also talk about a true mind blower when people see it.

  • Pretty damn clean install on that. :)

You people that argue Gas vs. Diesel are stupid. Each has its own suited application.

  • wooow, nice sound!

  • bc canada

  • i just finished restoring a 1995 chevy 2500 4x4 with the same diesel engine as that the 6.5 things got 441 000 km on it and still runs just like this one

  • I feel sorry for that car :'(! Why did you do that??

  • I threw up a little bit.

  • Thats something you dont see everyday!.... I think its cool. For me, its all about being differant from the next guy.... and thats differant.

  • that sound gives me wet dreams and the thought of getting how many mpg from a car that looks like that?

  • my dads truck has the same engine 95 chevy 2500 4x4 that we are restoring

  • Gotta luv diesels!

  • interesting conversion, fuck the haters.

  • @DJM442 - my sentiments exactly... I was planning a 455 swap for my 84 Regal GN clone, but I came into a 6.2 diesel that runs perfectly and I figure cars are built to drive, not just sit there because you can't afford the fuel...

  • @Alrgc2Air I just like cars, and engines that power cars. Big ones, small ones, gasoline, diesel ones, electric ones. Why can't anyone just like a car for the sake of it being a cool car? Everybody has their preferences, so just b/c someone didn't do what YOU think should be done it makes them an idiot and ok for you to be a youtube comment troll?

  • @Alrgc2Air I'm also VERY interested what in the true performance capabilities of this engine could be if done right. I've seen lots of videos of Dodge and Ford trucks tricked out with all kinds of Bullydog gear for their diesels SMASHING those dumb enough to race them in the quarter-mile. I say beef this bitch up, reinforce the frame, bigger and badder turbo and you're golden. Btw Alrgc2Air, not in any way saying you're a youtube comment troll.

  • @DJM442 - No offense taken.... It's all about torque... most racers don't realize that... 500 hp means nothing if you barely have enough torque to get moving... this is where diesels shine. Part of the reason I'm considering the 6.2 swap for my Buick... You should check out the twin-turbo Duramax Chevelle and there is another vid showing a mostly stock Silverado Duramax actually drifting through a turn.... AWESOME vid! :)

  • @DJM442 The 6.2/6.5 engines are very underrated engines. They are no powerhouses like the PSD, CTD or Dmax, but they do make useable power in a light package. A true light duty full size truck diesel. Without a whole bunch of money they can be built to make 200HP/450TQ, that would be turbo, increased fuel rate, lower compression, arp headstuds, high flow intake manifold (j-code or f-code) and some other stuff that may need replacing due to general wear/age as with any old/used engine. I like em.

  • @kemuksigak I just like to see people doing unique stuff to cars. If you have the know-how and the desire of daring to be different you get a tip of the hat from me. Sadly trolls like chemao1978 think the world revolves around them and that their opinion is the ONLY opinion out there and that the rest of us are dummies for what we like, respect, or are into.

  • i dont care what any of you fucks have to say so dont bother trying to start and arguement....this is the stupidest fucking thing ive ever seen

  • the person did this conversion is either on crack or very drunk ;)

  • That is nice, I love it.. No other Vette sounds like that one. It has to get great MPG.

It will probably go for 1,000,000+ miles with a Puradyn TF12P bypass oil filter. You only need to change the oil every 300,000 miles with this filter, its that good. Use the best synthetic on the market and this filter will keep the oil like new for years.

I have the filter you need, perfect for that engine. They are $400 but I will let it go half price. It is brand new with all the fittings.

  • that thing doesnt need duel exhaust. it needs a 5" stack out of the hood. lol

  • Cool!

  • Awesome! Probably only way I'd ever own a 70's corvette. What kind of mileage you pull off with that thing?

  • sounds like a monster love it

is this a V8 diesel? thanks for answer (sry english is not so good)

  • Sounds sick.

  • sounds like stinking ass semi that ran over a bus of children.

  • @lilmarv08 Well what does your unique corvette sound like? What, you don't have one?

  • what year vette is it? wow i can immagine the time and work to do such a conversion... people dont understand sometimes on these things... they only look at HP and forget about the incredible torque that can be had from a diesel engine

  • Are you running a stock oil pan?

  • Nice job! The sound is totally unexpected. I'll bet you get a lot lof Volvo wagon moms looking at you thinking its going to blow up any minute. I am putting this engine in my 21 foot boat. The exhaust is 29 inches long with 4 inch full diameter. I hope I will hear the turbo... I am the guy who put the Kubota in the Diesel Geo Metro. Love them crackle assed diesels!

  • nice work!!! was thinking of doing a swap like this with an el-camino. alot of people dont understand fully why. but i get it.

  • Great idea, though I'd love to see what happens when you crank up the boost...

  • thats cool

  • sounds like my dad's mercedes e200 cdi

  • iDon't like the diesel sounds at all.

  • American Muscle rockss

  • Comment removed

  • why?????????

  • yeah to bad thats all your getting out of that 6.5 and the hp is at the fly wheel

  • and now presenting!!!!! old clankey.. lol nice build man

  • sounds like a POS

  • sounds like a garbage truck.

  • Very faggish!

  • only idiot could put diesel into corvette

  • @SFINX01 I'm sorry God didn't bless you with a fully functional brain capable of understanding why diesel is better.

  • I agree with MrNiteryder, screw the haters, good job! Why would you want to put a Small Block Chebby boat anchor in it? That would be BORING! You went with the BEST light duty diesel on the market, too.

  • pointless!!!!pointless!!!pointless!!! myt aswell have put in a set of fukin pedals and a bell!!!!

  • what a waist of time to put a diesel in a corvette. So retarded!!

  • i dont know if i'd use a 6.5, but thats F***ing neat to watcher go..all it needs now is a 5 or 6 speed

  • i just watched the 97 dodge3500 vid too. your truck is a waist of time. have fun trying to sell that piece of junk

  • Comment removed

  • God that sounds ballsy

  • This is addressed to 97 dodge 3500 Just watched your video Talk about waste of time. Must be an age thing..."

  • @97dodge3500 If by waste of time you mean best Corvette ever, then yes, this is a complete waste of time.

  • no sack

  • cool now just put a muncie SM465 behind it no problem

  • thats sweet, mush get great gas milage

  • Oh no....a diesel in a vette..hmmm..:(

  • Not bad at all. Original. I like.

One thing, tho. Did you have to put a failmatic behind it? All the strong as hell standards out there and you have to put an automatic in it...it's a corvette, man, not a motor home!

You still get 5 stars, because it's so unique. But the automatic is just cheap.

  • your a dumb ass

  • u suck ass long time!!

  • and gasoline cars suck gas big time, LOL!!!!!

  • cummins!?

  • no cumins suck its a chevy 6.5L diesel back when they made a real diesel engine not no duramax shit

  • @DRNEGOLICIS

Really 6.5 a real diesel I owned one and Now I own a duramax seriously the 6.5 is the biggest piece of shit. Real Great for making you spend money.

  • im haveing a hard time understanding why people talk so much shit about the 6.2L and 6.5L they are really good enignes and dont deserve a bad rep they are long lasting and reliable im fixing to put on in my truck 6.2L or a detroit 453T if i can get my hands on one people that dont know how to drive one talk alot of trash mostly

  • Yeah, you couldn't pay me to own a duramax diesel. Sure it has lots of power, but it doesn't get any better mpg. Oh and when something breaks, then it's time to dish out the big bucks. The older 6.2's are worse than the newer 6.2's from what I heard. I WISH I had a non-turbo 6.2 or 6.5 in my 93' Chevy 5.7L V8, 2500 conversion van. If it wasn't for all that electrical, I would have planned to do it already. The turbo wouldn't even fit if I wanted one. I guess I'll have to settle for 14mpg city/hw

  • Such a shame, my dad bought a Chevy Suburban 6.2L diesel that had the COMPLETE Banks turbo package, it ran bad, then we fixed it from head to toe, BUT, yes, the big but!! But we didn't buy a new crankshaft and camshaft. We had someone cut one down a few thousandths, which I heard we should have never done. We haven't had the time to take apart the engine yet, but I hope it not as messed up inside as it sounds outside, it now sounds like a Tractor Trailer Truck, LOL!!!

  • Duramax gets great gas milage after you remove all the emissions controls on it. I've seen as good as 26 mpg

  • Really? What exactly is removed? Well whatever it is, it's something you don't have to spend any money on when it breaks. I don't know whats with peoples latest technology craze with wiring everything in a vehicle to death, even an engine. I remembering seeing that hotrod tv show where the guy said that there was only 7 wires throughout the whole entire vehicle, granted it was a gasoline vehicle. That's the kind of vehicle I want, just a diesel version.

  • @celloprof The swap is smart, a properly worked 6.2/6.5 is not as bad as you think, look at Heath Diesel's Bonneville pickup. Gets 30+ mpg and can run out to almost 160 mph, and there's more left in it. The Duramax needs just a tune to make a heavy truck run 12s. Or how about Nitrous Express' Duramax powered Mustang? Runs 9's and gets 45 mpg. Have you seen a gasser do that?

  • @DRNEGOLICIS Because they are underpowered and tend to blow up. They keep my diesel repair shop in business! (sad part is that isn't really a joke)

  • @dinkdink666 That just means you got alot of dumb asses around your shop that dont know how to run a diesel they have plenty of power Around 500FTlbs of torq around 480HP more than an IDI 7.3L cat

  • @DRNEGOLICIS WOW!!!! They get that much horse power???? I think you need to look at a spec sheet. It would take some serious mods to get a Duramax to 480 hp past the IDI 7.3L NAVISTAR engine.

  • @JerYonsv yes, the 350 is 330HP and 380FTlbs of torq the 6.5L exceeds that of the 350 the 6.2L is almost equivilent to the 350other than it gets better fuel economy the 6.5L is around 500ftlbs and 400hp ill bust out my book and get the numbers

  • @DRNEGOLICIS I know what the chevy 350 is, I built few to get extra power for racing. The 6.5 diesel * Displacement: 6.5L / 397 cu in * Power / Torque (lowest): 180 hp (134 kW) @ 3,400 rpm / 360 lb·ft (488 N·m) @ 1,700 rpm * Power / Torque (highest): 215 hp (160 kW) @ 3,200 rpm / 440 lb·ft (597 N·m) @ 1,800 rpm * Max RPMs: 3,400

They are weak, but good for very light purposes.

The 7.3L Navistar IDI was 190 hp turbocharged at 388 Ft lbs of torque.

  • @JerYonsv so the 6.5 has more than a IDI 7.3 you said the IDI 7.3 was only 388ftlbs? i have a hard time beliveing that i was kinda clsoe i said the 6.5 was under 500ft lbs you said 440FTlbs that is a little more impresive than i thought i might be better off puting a 6.2L in my truck than a 453 detroit then

  • @DRNEGOLICIS I'm not sure on the 453 cuz I'm not well versed in that motor, but that 6.5 and 7.3 are stock turbocharged the 6.2 has less. In my old gmc the 6.2 didn't pull itself up a hill well with an automatic. Our ranch truck with the 6.2 and sm465 tranny was pretty sweet for average driving and despite what people say about those gm detroits it was abused bad yet kept going. My gmc was a conversion and the 6.2 is fairly inexpensive if you find one. Happy wrenching

  • @JerYonsv 6.2s on a SM465 are rare i have a hi power heavy duty 350 4bolt main the ones that came in dump trucks with a SM465 behind it with a 5.13 rear end i up graded to a 650 holly for more power and better fuel economy i get around 17.5-18MPG high way 8-10 city stop and go but i want to do better so im wanting a diesel plus i just like disel better my problem is a 453 or 6v53 wont turn enough RPM for my set up as it is i turn the 350 about 4200RPM to go 70 with over size tires a detroit wont

  • @DRNEGOLICIS That's good that you got the SM465 because if you get the flywheel and clutch kit it's a direct bolt in as long as you get the motor mounts with the engine. The 6.2 is very high reving for a diesel engine. I think you will enjoy it.

Diesels are so much better, and it's good to hear of other diesel lovers planning on swaps from gassers.

  • @DRNEGOLICIS I was shocked myself, but I knew they had decent go for an IDI engine.

  • @DRNEGOLICIS You must not know that much if you are getting that bent out of shape over my comment. I didn't say they weren't good for modification (example, google: Heath Diesel in washington) but stock, they are shit.

  • @dinkdink666 what was the comment i cant find it

  • @DRNEGOLICIS It is a good engine as far as it can be brutalized and go forever. Yet they have no power, so useless when hauling a load. I've been driving them for 24 years because our ranch truck was one and I had another. I did my self a favor and got an International 7.3L T444E, a.k.a. Powerstroke. BTW I'm a trucker so I think I know how to drive.

  • idk man i think diesel engines sound lame. There a little quiet and there idle is weird but its just my opinion i think the car is still awesome

  • NICE!!!!

  • How much will it tow?

  • Weight wise, a medium bulldozer.

Size wise, maybe a large trailer.

Anything bigger than, say... a double axle rv trailer, would just be too big O.o

  • fuck the haters awesome conversion man love it

  • nice , how match that taking diesel for mile? or Kilometre?

  • You put a 6.5 under the hood!

Might as well take a ball peen hammer and crack the block. Why wait, it will happen sooner than you think

  • Nice swap!

  • bc plates

  • through a cummins 12 valve in there man i know you can ive seen them in tighter engine compartments!!

  • the cummins would be a bad choice they sound like shit the 6.5L is the way to go for a good sound the cummins is to heavy and the rear of the car wouldnt have enough traction it would be unstable
