Usually the BP from the gun stores is not a granule! can I still uses them as a lift charge even if I try to make a aerial shells?

it ussually is but it is sold in pellets somtimes, and yes u can use as lift but u may need more depending on amount

whats the difference between meal powder, granulated powder, and regular powder?................... and do u make ur stars?

meal powder is just potassium nitrate, charcoal and sulfur ground and mixed together, there is no regular powder really and granulated is sulfur charcoal and potassium nitrate ground together mixed with a little bit of dextrin and water and passed through a sieve.

PVC is brittle. So, if it doesn't withstand the force of the lift charge, it will send bits of PVC flying in all directions- ie PVC shrapnel.

heres a tip put a wooden base siliconed or glued to the pvc mortar so its re usable

PVC can store an electrostatic charge. I wouldn't use PVC at all.

But, I'm not a dipshit, so I guess my input falls on deaf ears...

I use pvc only for star tests. I have 3/8" and 1/2" I made a custom plug wich i used pvc cement for some reason to plug it then i drilled a hole. I was looking at your video and noticed the pvc you were using is schedule a pvc. This pvc is not rated to hold almost no pressure at all. Im asuming that was 3/4" Schedule a pvc try 3/4" Sch 40 pvc instead. THis has thicker walls and is rated for like 200+psi. And for thoes of you who say it will just make a bigger bomb then

Dont use bigger then 1/2"pvc and only test single stars with it. (Thats what i do ) So theres virtually no pressure and because your using like .5and under of bp its not a bomb.

I found a 3kg bag of sulfur in the gardening section at Kmart for $10, and you can make dextin yourself its real simple just search it.

just use a sparkler or crush up some match heads into a powder and add water so it looks a mud and then soak string in it and wait for it to dry.

Nice mine mate, what are you using for lift? Commercial powder or home made? How many hour etc?

I just made a mine with 20g of lift (what the book said to use) and it totally obliterated the tube with quite an impressive bang, only a few stars lit though.

For my starmines I just put the stars in the tube, then put a plug in it. I should try it how you packed the stars in.
