Ibanez MIGHT fit the bill, but he's probably want some custom electronics, because if I'm not mistaken, those Musicman Bongo pickups are stronger than a lot of pickups marketed today. And a lot of people I've talked to have had trouble tapping while using the SDGR models, so it might turn him off to that aspect.

I really love Mr. Myung's playing but I must say that sometimes his agressive playing style doesn't fit the song style.. I know he's not reaaaaaally playing "a song" here.. Cos it's like snippets of whatever the hell this video's all about..

But it sounds like he's playing too hard in this video most of the time..

I definitely agree with you on the hard playing/distortion thing. I've had the same problem and it got pretty annoying. Personally I don't think he's as outgoing (creative) as he should playing in DT (Dave LaRue perhaps?) But I think the key thing to remember is that he plays lines with Petrucci. I don't think I would care how I played my bass if I knew that somehow I could keep up to him hahahaha
