a band can't have two leader figures. that's why they kicked out dave - he was one of the figures. and that's why they (james) kept kirk - he's pure submission.

now, trujillo is also pure submission, but that's because he is a new member of the band. jason wasn't a leader figure, but he also wasn't submissive, that's why he had to leave.

james is a control freak and lars supports him in it.

this is how most bands, and almost all societies in history work.

@DonBaldy Dave is the sloppy one at least Kirk can stay in key when he solos. Kirk's leads have more soul and control but I will give Dave the credit as a better rhythm guitarist and songwriter and therefore a better musician.
