If I had listened to your performance before contributing my own, I may have opted to rehearse it for another month or so. Absolutely perfect performance and a drop-dead gorgeous interpretation. Thorougly enjoyed watching - thanks! I look forward to exploring your channel. All the best!
Hi Paul, Thank you so much for your extremely kind words about my performance, I appreciate them very much! Best wishes and a Very Happy New Year to You, GR
I think the only Reis I'm familiar with is Se Ela Preguntar, but this is really a beautiful piece too! Your interpretation on this and all of your videos show you to be a musician with great soul -- and a heck of a player, too!
Hi dinotim88, Thank you very much for the kind words, I appreciate them very much! I'm very glad that I introduced you to Dilermando Reis' music. There's a lot of Reis music on YouTube- Check out my other video of his most famous waltz "Se Ela Perguntar" Cheers, GR
Hi dinotim88, Yes, very good! It's almost exactly the same phrase as the Chopin Concerto #1 in E minor Op.111. Reis was very influenced by the classical romantic composers especially Chopin. He wrote a bunch of waltzes like Chopin did most of them very melancholic with authentic Braziilian "Saudade" feeling. Thanks, GR
Hi ARANJUEZCM, Thanks very much, glad you appreciate my vibrato, I am very influenced by the recordings of Dilermando Reis himself. He used to play on a steel string acoustic guitar and he used a very intense and soulful vibrato which made his phrasing of melodies sound very unique. He had an original beautiful style of playing. He is one of Brazil's greatest guitarists and they have many great players in their musical history. Thanks again! Best, GR
Hi wigleboy, Thank you so much for your generous comments, much appreciated! I was looking at your profile and favorite videos and I see you have good taste too, I also love Vicente Amigo, the guy's a serious genius and totally great flamenco artist! Thanks again, GR
You really need to get yourself an agent, a recording studio & put your talent out there on CD. Nothing against youtube, but I think you're a million light years above and beyond any amateur playing on this platform & this level. Very best wishes to you. Keep on playing.
Shimi thank you so much! From your profile I see that you love Reis' music, and you also play his waltzes very well too. I just checked out your website and I see that you are a very talented painter which is a great gift, you are blessed! Thanks again! GR
Thanks so very much Julie, much appreciated! I really love Dilermando Reis' music and hope to put some more videos up of his music soon. Thanks again. Regards, GR
That sounded absolutely flawless. You should have a recording contract instead of making youtube videos ... however, I'm glad you're not ... just yet.
Thanks Mike! There are flaws - just don't listen too closely! ;-)
A recording contract would be nice but in today's fast-moving technological world I'm probably going to have more people hear my playing this way! :-) Thanks again, GR
Lalo thanks so much!!! The melody is indeed very beautiful and haunting, Dilermando Reis was a very inspired man. Stay tuned for my next Reis post coming soon! Thanks again, GR
Hello darthguitar - Thank you very much for the very kind words! Yes I do teach guitar. My guitar is not a well known brand or made by anybody famous, just a good friend who lives in a small town. Thanks again, GR
Great musicality, good technique and deep feeling. I would love to learn this beautiful piece but not sure I could cope with it. Thanks, Ivorguitar...
Ivorguitar great to hear from you! Thanks so very much for the kind words. You should definitely give this piece a try, it's very emotionally satisfying to play. You could definitely cope with it because you play Cavatina really nicely and that's a harder piece technically with even more difficult barres and melody-sustaining challenges, so give this Reis waltz a try! Yours, GR
Thanks so much Don! This is a hauntingly beautiful melody that's difficult to play with the required sustain because you have to juggle barre chords and big stretches at the same time. There's quite a few notes I wish I wouldn't have cut off so fast - got to keep working on it! Thanks again, GR
