  • One thing I will never forget about this game is that when I played it I had an off-brand Gamecube controller that would somehow make me run faster all the time. That plus Lloyd's personal EX skill? I CAN OUTRUN THE WORLD!!!

  • Wow, some of this stuff looks like its from zelda! :D like the walking Skeletons! :3

  • All I ever wanted when I was a young girl playing this was for Zelos to hit on me and we'd run away together.

  • @sp00kii Same for Sheena here.

  • My favorite game of all time. The game I took a chance on that surpassed all my expectations.

  • i have to say that i prefer the orchestrated beginnings in tales games over the japanese pop type music in the more recent games like vesperia but even those beginnings are still great!

  • I have to thank Nintendo Power for my owning and playing this game. It was the cover story for an issue back in 04, and it was only my second issue of NP ever, I had just subscribed for the first time a month earlier. I remember reading the cover story and thinking "this game looks amazing!". This was back before I went to game sites regularly, so Nintendo Power is the reason I decided to get this game when it came out, and I am forever grateful. This game is one of my all time favorites.

  • @SilverAxe13 Holy shit, it was the same for me. I read about this game in NP and got hooked. Bought it that year and so far I've sunk 250 hours into it.

  • Lol, I re-bought this game also. XD Regretted selling its awesome, and epicness. It was fun back in 2006 when I played and its still fun to play. One of the best games ever. ;3

  • Not the same without the vocals, unlike Abyss where the music was great even without vocals.

  • 0:21 to 0:33 i love it, it's so peaceful and heavenly :)

  • re-bought this game today :)

  • this is a great series of games, but this was a particualr highpoint, i a great story, great gamplay, and tons of unlockables, one of my all time favorites

  • 1:30 and on is so sweet. ToS and other Tales games really deserve more recognition for putting such significant effort into their characters and story.

  • Colette: "Whoops, I messed up" :P

    Me: ...*runs for cover*

  • @alphabladelm2011 why run... I mean get her to mess up when buying a lotter ticket then in like 5 days you will be a millionare

  • @ghostkitten2 that's if she used Holy Judgement; I wouldn't feel safe near her

  • This is my favorite game of all time, my inspiration for everything. I've played it so many times i cant even count and like many this opening still gives me the chills. Just love it.

  • One of my favourite game with zelda, okami and kingdom hearts <3

I remember that I didn't touch the joystick just to see this opening cutscene repeat again and again *_*

  • Although I am a born at heart zelda fan, I can say without a doubt, this game is one of the best games ever!

  • my favorite game ever. in 2004 i was a little kid, and would go to school, pretending to be colette. when i beat the game i was so sad the epicness of a masterpiece was over

  • Does anyone know the name of this piece? I know it was composed by Motoi Sakuraba, but beyond that I don't know enough to find it to purchase/download. I'd greatly appreciate the help!

  • still get chills when watching haha :)

  • So much like Final Fantasy

  • @MultiForfun123 - fixed: "So much better than Final Fantasy." Especially the newer ones. God damn, FF12 and 13 are abominations.

  • amazing game loved it to teh end

  • I was like "yay starry heavens english" then I'm like 0.0...

  • I hope the make a remake of this game for the ds or consoles :)

  • @MsgGhost101 if the 3ds gets a remake ill get it as im a hardcore zelda fan but i bought this game buy coincidence and i love it to bits i even have a daughter called colette after playing this

  • I was like 14-15yrs old at the time and I swear to god, when I finished the game i was sad for like 2 days. You really get into the story!

  • The only game that I've had since launch and I still play to this very day.

  • i miss this game so much ive beat it one time one even though it felt like i beat many times cause of my memory card kept corrupting many times

  • ooooh nostalgia, the first tales of game i ever played, got it for christmas many years ago and didnt stop, the story hooked me right in,

    really emotional story

  • I feel sorry for presaea. But she does man-handle everything in her path :P

  • I remember being reccomended this game from a co-worker, and after much fruitless searching at all the local game stores in town, my boyfriend found it in the bargain bin at Walmart for 20 bucks.

Needless to say, it has been the best 20 bucks I ever spent on a game. Sure, I've gone on and played many other great RPG's, (Baiten Kaitos, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls Oblivion) But none has disloged ToS's status of the best game I've ever played.

  • @crookTJ I did, but it turned out to be easier than I thought, especially since fighting with him, I was very familiar with all of his moves. Only thing that surprised me was Judgement

  • @croookTJ I did, but it turned out to be easier than I thought, especially since fighting with him, I was very familiar with all of his moves. Only thing that surprised me was Judgement

  • ahhh i love the tales seires. they are one of the few RPGs worth playing nowadays. most of them give you like 60 hours of play with JUST the main storyline, sidequests and exploration can bump that up to 80+ hours of play PLUS uber replay value. once upon a time these things were standard in RPGs, now rpgs are getting shorter and shorter and frankly, not worth the money to buy them. tales games have yet to disappoint me

  • Does anyone know where I can download this song?

  • I would like to see a remake of Symphonia! :D It would be doubly amazing with the better graphics! But....this game is still amazing as it is now. Hard...

  • @SoTotallyNotWeaboo Oh and they made a remake for the PS2 with added things.

  • @desdar100 Yeah they did but it's only in Japan and the graphic quality is the same. Or worse. I meant like an actual re-make, like how the quality is in Abyss or Vesperia and newer Tales titles.

The quality in Symphonia isn't exactly amazing, but if I enjoy playing it this much now, then a re-make would be way more addicting than the game is now :D

Hey? Tales of Symphonia 10 year anniversary in 2013 or 2014? I can only dream.....

  • @SoTotallyNotWeaboo Yeah the game is awsome maybe thats why I own the gamecube and PS2 vesions the only other version of the game I know is the 3ds version and it kinda looks lame no new content or anything. but let be friends

  • Every time I am about to write a book I listen to this opening :D

  • The only thing they could actually do better would be giving the skits voices, other than that it´s a perfect game :)

  • I would die if they remade this on the 3DS like they are for Tales of the Abyss. Scratch that i'd die if they remade it and the game actually retained it's awesomeness or somehow found a way to get every better!! =D

  • I remember this game! I played it when I was little! I still remember all the characters names!

  • This music is way better than the J-pop version. I don't get how people actually want the Japanese opening to have stayed the same or think it's better (unless you understand full JP) It's shoving kawaii desu in my ears while this op is epic and memorable!!

Not everyone who plays ToS is a weeaboo or otaku or an anime fan. Maybe an insane rabid tales fan like me..

    This game is amazing BTW

    Best in the Tales series.

  • @SoTotallyNotWeaboo Well my friend liking a JRPG to others makes people like you and me a weaboo its not that people are saying Japans better or anything its just that you dont have to change something that was already good and 9 times out of 10 when they change the opening they change something else ex- they cut out the skits, most of the charcters mystc artes only leaving llyold colettes I think opitional cameo boss fights etc.

  • This is My opinion But i think that Everyone who plays the Tales series has to play this one first. Its The best one

  • Thumbs up if u thought that angel in the beginning was Colette the first time u played this game

  • @iBleepify I still thought so till you pointed out haha and I beat the game already what a shame ._.

  • i prefer the japanese one...

  • This opening still gives me chills...

  • I always thought it was Yagdrassiel (sp?) in the opening shot

  • @SergentExtreme go check the net . i rather not spoil those who are here that haven't played the game .

  • This opening is much better than the japanese one :D

  • I remember when I saw the part where Presea owns that Rock Monster, "I WANT THAT PINK HAIRED GIRL WITH GIANT AXE IN MY PARTY!!!". They do give some hints too like when Lloyd is drawing the sword against Kratos, I knew he was going to betray them eventually.

  • one of those games that you'll never get to old for

  • @cottoncandy468 you so need to, i just beat it in like forever, man i was glad to play it again

  • COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THIS SONG??

  • there were to many great characters in this game making it difficult to make a party

  • Damn, this is giving me the chills. Long live Tales.

  • seriously watching this gives me every sort of emotion, happiness, joy, frustration, excitment, and honestly it makes me wana cry because i have had so many good memories with this game, takes me back

  • me and my two brothers spent every day in the summer playing this and i am now addicted to vesperia and abyss <3 best games ever

  • <3

  • It's thanks to Tales of Symphonia that I discovered and got into the Tales series!! It's just one of the many video games that will be burned into my head forever! :)

  • The best video game opening EVER!

  • click like if this is the best tales game ever!!

  • Essence of childhood, anyone?

  • I love the music on the english version better than the japanese version

  • Loved the game, some reason could never like Colette though. lol

  • Main reason why I finally bought a Gamecube! SYMPHONIA FTW!!

  • @FelicianoCookie you know what im saying!!!!!! after tales of symphonia the only other game i playeed was SSBM those 2 games made the gamecue worth while

    but still TOS FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My first ever real RPG and the first ever RPG i finished without any guides of help the greatest game of all time

  • Every time I boot this game up I always sit and watch this entire intro, its just too crucial. Epic intro to an even more epic game.

  • Me n my brothers played this game like it was crack. one of the most addictive games ever

  • @eftultimate i agree it indeed is addicting <333

  • @eftultimate =D

  • @eftultimate omg meee fucking to my favorite characters were genis and raine

  • Although the Japanese opening is a lot better, I kind of miss this opening.

I have a japanese wii and a japanese copy of this game(which I haven't beat it yet, just on my way to the tower of salvation for the first time), but I used to have a US gamecube and a US copy, and I used to hear this opening everyday for months! Spent a total of 70+ hours on this game, and still haven't got to fight the living armor...

  • my first tales game....that i still have lol its just too good to give up now to play part 2.... do's lloyd return on 2 or do i have to use the new guy?

  • @project0omega

You have to use Emil and Marta, but at one point Lloyd joins the team and you can use him if you switch control during battle, but only then. And even then, Lloyd has a new voice actor, and doesn't sound at all the same.

  • Best game on GC... Too bad the jp opening is 10 times better :(

  • @ImaPSPcat for real oh snaps

  • This looks like a combination of Zelda and anime. AWESOME!

  • ¡Ese juego es impresionante me encanta! (L)

  • The most epic intro to the one of the most epic videogames in the entire history of man. It makes on realize how small life is and why we really need to appreciate those small details that form part of us. Lloyd Irving and the group of regeneration are an adecuate example of that and even the story shows us the true seed of the world.

  • One of the best games of all time

  • IMO, the Orchestral version of this opening is much better than the original.

  • i played this game from start to finish like...50 times this is probaly 1 of my favirote games of all time

  • why....why is there only this game that can give me chills and make me almost cry?! WHY?!

  • Whenever I play this game, I have to let this intro play through at least once. It's so...augh! It gets me pumped up to kick some ass!

  • Tales of Vesperia is awesome for many reasons, including the opening, which IMO is better than this mainly because it has words, but you can't beat Tales of Symphonia. If they were to make a remake (not a sequel, DotNW was great, not as good as this though) with Fatal Strikes, free-running in battle, sub-weapons, etc., it would be AWESOME!

  • The music is great but what's keeping it back is they reused the animation from the japanese version. They should have redone the whole thing from scratch. You can animate something to a piece of music, but not vice versa.

  • Me : *watching this*

    Sister : Press start already!

Me : I will when it gets boreing!

    ...

    Sister : That's the menu...

Me : Yeah... I guess I can press Start now...

    Such great times <3 haha

  • Why is it that aside from the Silver Sword, the only weapon Kratos is good with is the Stiletto that you get incredibly early in the game?

  • @zoidsmaniac Well, He actually has very good weaponry if you decide to get him back rather than the pretty boy Zelos lol

  • I loved this game

  • A R T.

  • LOVE.

  • Sry ladies, but I love Tales of Symphonia more <3

  • I love this opening way more than the Japanese one. <3

  • If you like symphonia you should check out Tales of Phantasia, It's the first ever Tales of game but it's set in the same world as symphonia. If you like great characters and music you won't be dissappointed

  • I wish nintendo are somebody reliable owned the tales series so we wouldn't never wonder if the games get localize. Screw Namco keeping more than half of the games only in japan.

  • *sniffle*

I miss this game... A lot...

  • favorite gamecube title, also got me into the Tales series

  • @DesperadoBloo Same here

  • @DesperadoBloo This was mah 1st Tales game. I have retardedly fond memories of it.

  • @Astaticembrace Ditto it was my 1st Tales game too... and I have some interesting memories from it too xD

It also has gotten me into the other Tales series as well

  • @Astaticembrace your not the only one, i have beaten this game at least 4 times, i actually have to rank it as my favorite game of all time

  • @DesperadoBloo this is my favorite game in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always want to watch this and play this!!!!!!!

  • @DesperadoBloo Agreed on both accounts. My first ever Tales of game; holds a special place in my heart.

  • B E ST G A M E E V E R

    xoxo

    ex-Final Fantasy fan

  • The song reminds me of Golden Sun Lost Age's world map theme

  • @DarkKnightSoraesteed That's because the composer, Motoi Sakuraba, is the same for both games. Both Golden Sun and Tales of Symphonia are amazing!

  • @eriad1019 They are amazing! :D Possibly one of the best GBA and GC games I've ever played

  • @DarkKnightSoraesteed

    i always thought that too!!!!

right after you get Issacs party yeah?X)

  • Best Intro ^^

  • Best game EVER!

  • i could play this game forever

  • Me too! I have the second one for Wii after recently getting a Wii and having only a brief while to look at games, I am hooked, I will have to get the first game. I would have grabbed both of them if I had time to look for a part one.

  • @peachgirl010 i know right? The first one is definitely leaps and bounds beyond the second one in terms of lasting impression and overall polish/story. But i still enjoyed the second one, mostly because i got to see the characters again! its kinda tough to find now but i dont think youll have too much trouble, i see them in gamestops and stuff so just keep an eye out and be sure to play it!! wont regret it

  • Wow, I miss this game :(

  • So many years since it was released, and it's the only gamecube game (besides SSBM) that I still play regularly.

  • Often an over looked gem on the gamecube, this is one of my fav Tales games ever!

  • i got mine new

  • i have this game for gamecube i beat it like nothing but it is an awesome game totally worth it

  • yeah

  • jus saying but u can get this at gamestop.com for like 20 bucks it's not going to be in the store but you can get it online

  • I miss this game! T_T My cousins stole it, and I wanna play it!

  • I can't find a copy anywhere. :(

  • @1337hax4life And if you manage to find one, they're expensive as hell. Stupid, too popular for its own good game. =(

  • @Religion0 Yeah, someone was selling it for $55 a while ago but I didn't buy it. D:

  • @1337hax4life My point exactly.

  • i'm not going to lie...........i'm crying...

  • @TheSlihmproduction *Hugs* ^_^

  • I want a high quality soundtrack of this opening. Anyone know where to get it?

  • Does anyone know the name of this song ??

  • this makes me cry :'( so much memories, i still play this game to this day, i will never get bored of it

  • Such a beautiful work of art, if only the same could be said for the sequel!

  • sequal suked but.....LOVED THIS GAME prbbly best game made for GC

  • If the song playing is an OST, can someone please tell what the name of it is?

  • I bought this game when it first came out, never really played it, sold it, then recently played it from a friend of mine. We put so many hours of just epic moments into this game and he lost the second disc. Just makes me wonder, why the F*** would i sell such a great game

  • @mnwildrulz you can get it online im sure, if you still wanted to beat it of course

  • I've tried playing all the Tales games, on the DS and PSP and PS2, and to be brutally honest, none of them interested me in the leas except this one. This game was freaking awesome in every aspect. The graphics, the voice acting, and especially the story. This game probably had the longest plot I had ever played at the time (being only like 9 when I first got it) and I loved every second of it! The characters are very memorable and I think I actually teared up a bit when the game ended xD

  • I jizzed in my pants when I picked this up on gamecube for 15$ after renting it about 5 years before that.

  • Ahh... The memories...

  • I wish the ToS Soundtrack came with this music, or even the full vid.

  • i dont care what people think, i love this op better than the jp op. come one guys, this music is beyond epic. and it so works for the game.

  • This was the best game ever made for game cube ^^

  • I remember when i got this game I never heard of it before and started playing the demo in the store then my mom bought it for me It's probably one of the greatest games I've ever played in my life, I loved that 4 people could play at once b/c my bro and friend played the game with me and that made it fun :D

  • Some didn't even happen like Colette and the Shark thingy.

  • all those hours of playing- we- stopped at like the final boss.... because at the time we couldnt get him just yet. Ended up not playing for a few years. Now we cant even manage a second against him...*cries like a baby* only way to beat it now is to like- restart the entire game. XD- i dunno where the last save spot was.

  • @poik247 My brothers and I had the same exact problem. One of these days I'll just have to start it over.

  • @poik247 Mithos is easy. What difficulty you playing on anyway's cause Mithos really wasn't that hard of a guy to beat. He was really easy to me.

  • this game changed rpg gaming in every way it was in depth and so detailed it was unreal! i remember getting kratos back is my party for the first time after he betrays you such an awesome game! still playing it now just to good to let go!

  • i keep playing this game.... the best rpg game.

  • this intro always always gives me the chills when I hear it. it's one of the most beautifully animated sequences ive ever seen!

  • Liked Vesperia alot more than this, but it was the second tales game I've ever played after phantasia and it was amazing. Buttttt favoritism to Vesperia because of free running :P

  • goddamnit! I remember how far I went in this game, past discovering that parallel world, and then some douchebag deleted my file. ARRRGGGH!

  • I have only played this game and Tales of Phantasia out of the series. I love Symphonia, being such a HUGE game with just... EVERYTHING. I can't even describe it. But Tales of Phantasia is a lot better than I expected it to be. Right now it is taking precedence over Final Fantasy 6, considered one of the best games in the FF series

  • i friggin love this game i've beaten it 7 times never gets old

  • 日本のオープニングとは随分違うな・・・。

It is considerably different from Japan's.

  • this game was made by gamecube?! I MUST GET IT!!!!!
