  • Any idea what mechanism drives this periodic alternation in the sun's magnetic poles? Is the suns' core radiation from the actual fusion process convected assymetrically or in a polar manner? (If it were polar, maybe this drives overall convection and causes the pole change?)

  • Amazing

  • Since b101aa2 wishes me to stop replying to him, I shall honour that request. I'd like to leave some links to Bad Astronomy's discussion on solar variation which I think are relevant to this video.

The Sun may be headed for a little quiet time

Are we headed for a new ice age?

  • @tuzmor Oh, yes, I forgot that YOU, sadly, are the retarded astronaut who would hang out in space with no flight suit nor ship which receive transmission signals indicating a live feed from the passing unit! Silly "sperm thirsty" me for having a billion more brain cells than you have sperm at any given second in time. I think you should change your screen name to TUMORz to describe the blathering that u do best.

  • This video was nicely explaining that we are likely heading into a mini ice age.

  • @b101aa2 The amount of Solar Mass Ejections or sun spots does not affect the temperature of the Sun felt on Earth.

  • @Lorneehax37 i see someone forgot to take an astro physics class. ever heard of the term solar weather? oh well, i study and incorporate solar cosmology into my daily work, so i guess i didn't get the memo the world is flat. cheers

  • @b101aa2 Except we're not. Perhaps we should be, but the temperatures of the earth are still climbing. Even BEST confirms it.

  • @wstevenschneider well, we are likely heading into one. i suggest to some research on the topic, it's for the most part unanimous that it's coming. as to global warming, it's been rising since 10,000 bc, minus the multiple mini ice ages since then about every 500 years or so. i recommend doing some research on the history of this topic as well. the average increases are not out of sync with the historical data at all. i also recommend googling the term, magnetic pole shift. it's kind of a lot.

  • @b101aa2 No ones denied that the sun is entering a quite period, but solar forcing is being overwhelmed by the effects of co2. If solar forcing were as dominant as you claim the average temps would have ceased climbing when solar irradiance peaked for the last time in the 70's. Instead they continue to climb, even most of your denier friends are starting to admit this now.

Don't worry, I've already done some reading on those terms you suggest I look up. Silly of you to presume things.

  • @wstevenschneider i think you need to get yourself an education. you do not know much in these subjects. there is a combination of many factors you have ignored, such as the magnetic poles are rapidly shifting since the earths magnetic field is much less then 15 years ago, which throws off weather patterns for the entire planet by immense margins (hence, debunking the global warming cultists), and in combination with the weakening of the sun's magnetic field and other solar events... ya, der..

  • @b101aa2 @b101aa2 "i think you need to get yourself an education."

What makes you think I'm not? More presumptions?

"...which (weakening magnetic field) throws off weather patterns for the entire planet by immense margins"

But there should be a detectable cooling trend, no?

From your words such as "cultists" and "zealot" I see that you feel strongly negative about AGW. I suggest you consider that before you reject the verified, peer-reviewed evidence.

  • @wstevenschneider A; peer reviewed. You mean government paid peer reviewed only, and supported by the fraudulent agency, ipcc that lies about everything they touch, and admitted they fakes the carbon and global warming topics, but are trying to advance that now anyways. B: The magnetic fields control most of the weather patterns... Hence, climate change.. The entire subject actually. C: Cooling trends, haven't noticed record cold spells have ya? D: Might want to learn up on solar cosmology.

  • @b101aa2

    A) SRSLY? So all astrophysicists, biologists, paleontologists, etc who aren't saying the earth is cooling, or reject AGW are part of the conspiracy? This includes gov't officials and civilians who support the science of AGW as well? Kind of a ridiculous claim, don't you think?

    B) SMF strength correlates w/sunspots and other solar attrib's. However, there are two major players in climate. The sun is one, co2 is the other.

  • @b101aa2

    C) A few cold spells don't a trend make. Even with record cold spells here and there, the observed trend shows warming. Ppl tend to fixate on records too much, hot and cold. It's the trends that matter.

    D) I'm not arguing on that point and was already working on it.

Look, conspiracy theories aside (which are ungrounded btw), nobody wants AGW to be true. You need to provide verifiable evidence that AGW is false if you want the scientific community to agree with you.

  • @wstevenschneider sorry, i am not talking over one or two days... fixation, it was really hot during september so it must be global warming... der for those short bus agw zealots... it's called the sun had multi large's cme's and flares, even a class x in the middle of it.

conspiracy theories? only conspiracy is the agw movement that disregards science and refuses ALL data to be input or considered, while at the same time believing in fraudulent reports. please, stop commenting me...

  • @wstevenschneider and btw... did you get the memo that the #2 guy at ipcc quit because he got tired of the fraud and fake global warming reports... he quit, and joined the non cronie scientific community. you shoudl check the actual facts before believing fraud, like the himalayan glacier subject, in which the scientist conducting those studies was "disgusted" by the ipcc stealing his data and making up fake reports that turned out to be lies.. in his owns words i might add. now by zealot..

  • @wstevenschneider ps: and anything that comes out the ipcc, i recomend taking as a grain of salt. even with their admitting to being nothing but biased liars, they also admitted that mankind has contributed to less then 3% of the total carbon output on planet earth in the last 300 or so years... if you took the zealots at their word, then we've contributed 2000% of it... liars, beget ignorance.

  • @b101aa2 Indeed, climate scientists have a working theory verified by the preponderance of evidence. Yet you expect me to take your word on the situation based on only _one_ piece of evidence. A piece of evidence that, yet again, supports the climate scientist's theory when you consider _all_ the evidence.

The rest of your statement is incoherent ranting about some kind of conspiracy. Get a grip.

  • @wstevenschneider honestly, i don't care what you think. but i do know one thing for sure. you could be given evidence and truth all day long and you wouldn't listen to a word of it. it's on your channel, you're a global warming zealot, and that is your religion. therefore, it doesn't matter what science there is, if al gore says so, then for you, that is enough truth... and kindly explain the manipulation of Himalayan glacier subject from the ipcc, being fraudulent.. one of thousands of cases

  • @b101aa2 Thank you for revealing the emptiness of your claims. For the record, you mentioned Gore, not me. I _never_ mention Gore, but it's amazing how deniers of science bring him up if their brand is anti-AGW. It must be said, your Gish Gallop is reminiscent of what I hear from creationists and homeopaths.

I know you know this already but the IPCC and Michael Mann have been cleared of all charges. You need to take your meds, btw. Night, night.

  • @tuzmor I like the beeping noise at the end! If you have fallen asleep, however, I could see why you might feel that way.

  • Are aliens real?

  • Will it happen in 2012

  • Fantastic! I love science bits you guys upload. Keep at it!

  • what is cme?

  • @davidkui311 coronal mass ejection

  • @davidkui311 Coronal Mass Ejection. Plasma. Not the same as a solar flare. Google it.

  • How do we know that the Sun spots are not in fact created by the magnetic feilds from distant stars?

  • @diballynibally magnetic fields become weaker at larger distances, so I doubt that's the case...

  • FAKE World Ends 2012

  • sun is our Duracell ...

  • Awesome. O_O

  • I am not a solar scientist, but I am someone who studies charts and I believe that the next solar maximum will not be until 2017. The reason for this is that I do not believe the speed of the projected increase of sunspots between 2011 and 2013.

  • Is there any evidence that the change of poles may occur to earth?

  • @raudalsan That takes millions of year, and it pertains only the magnetic poles, not the geographical poles

  • @Neueregel Thanks for the information!

  • @raudalsan Go google "Geomagnetic reversal".

  • @kaedenz Thanks!

  • No wonder I flip out every 11 years (-:

  • So 2012 huh? ok...

  • lol interesting

  • It doest want to load completely :(

  • Thumbs up!!!!!!!

  • doomsday!!!!!
