Any idea what mechanism drives this periodic alternation in the sun's magnetic poles? Is the suns' core radiation from the actual fusion process convected assymetrically or in a polar manner? (If it were polar, maybe this drives overall convection and causes the pole change?)

@wstevenschneider well, we are likely heading into one. i suggest to some research on the topic, it's for the most part unanimous that it's coming. as to global warming, it's been rising since 10,000 bc, minus the multiple mini ice ages since then about every 500 years or so. i recommend doing some research on the history of this topic as well. the average increases are not out of sync with the historical data at all. i also recommend googling the term, magnetic pole shift. it's kind of a lot.

If solar forcing were as dominant as you claim the average temps would have ceased climbing when solar irradiance peaked for the last time in the 70's. Instead they continue to climb, even most of your denier friends are starting to admit this now.

I am not a solar scientist, but I am someone who studies charts and I believe that the next solar maximum will not be until 2017. The reason for this is that I do not believe the speed of the projected increase of sunspots between 2011 and 2013.
