  • every body should put a little plastic on the air filter before praying water , sometime bad thing happen

  • ugh...now the cone filter is covered in degreaser AND soaking wet. Wtf?! Retarded

  • didnt even cover the intake filter and the filter on the valve cover.

  • I know this way cleans ur engine bay. Doing this always to like every 2 months. But the engine bay alreaddy looks clean before u started XD

  • Ehhmm, do you always leave open air filters uncovered? THATS PRO...

  • You my friend are a tard. Whats the temp? Lol

  • NO NEED TO HAVE THE WATER PRESSURE SO HIGH.

  • ok guys this guy is talking about naturally drying so after spraying water to that air intake you need to wait at least about a week so you dont hydrolock and fuck up your engine..

  • com um motor desse da vontade de fica limpoando ele ^^ no meu gol 1.0 :p nao da nem graç :D

  • i like how u didnt cover up shit... thumbs down from me terrible engine detail

  • I use to clean my engine on my car and I had two misfires, but the last time my mass air flower sensor went out and it cost me 300 bucks. I just dont think electrical and water get along.

  • thank you for showing us and teaching us sonmething usefull , unlike the other amateurs i watched that totally show the fastest way to let your check light lit on. i see the things you do to that car and i know i can do it on mine so thank u very much

  • nice video. I was always told to use aluminum foil to cover fuse boxes alternator and anything else you don't want to get wet. then go back when you done and clean those bits as you see fit. i would also use a sprayer you can pump up instead of yanking like made on the trigger type bottle. great vids and im definitely going to subscribe.

  • Did the s2k hydrolock after hosing down the air filter like that? Lol

  • Nice video!!! Do I have to protect the alternator???? Nice Oakleys BTW :P

  • i love the look of that car

  • Sorry but you just oversprayed your CAI with water :/ hope you did'nt got any problems with that afterwards, and one other thing, Should'nt you cover the battery, oilfiter etc? When doing a engine wash ? otherwise awesome videos you post =)

  • That cars breather hose by -pass, doesn't that risk getting exaust gas inside the car ? Or is that location considered ok ?

  • Thanks, guys!

For most modern cars getting the underhood wet is not an issue. We have never had a problem, although we are insured if we ever do. Obvious things like don't try to flood the alternator or fusebox, definitely spray the air filter as little as possible as so no water gets in and up the intake tract. Most filter elements can handle some water and cleaning. Some have a protective oil that you will want to keep soap off, like a K&N brand. Other than that just be cautious and work slow

  • Nice. Can't wait to detail my engine but I can see that no electrical component was cover up during the hosing.

  • she looks nice

  • quick question what do i do about the alternator... do i cover it some 1 said cover it but i have a s2k and ive been following ur tips with everything but its time to clean the engine..... any1 lemme no thanks

  • Thanks for the kind words, guys! We are glad you enjoy the videos!

  • @autolavish

    hello sir

i have an Acura MDX want to wash engine and i was wodering which part shoul i cover from reaching sops and waters if you could help me with that pls

  • @IanWatson55

Sorry Ian for not answering this sooner!

Why can't you hose off the engine? For extremely delicate cars like classics, concourse, or show cars, I would recommend using degreasers sprayed on a towel and then wiped onto the dirty parts, or on a toothbrush, followed by a good rinse with Optima No Rinse solution in a spray bottle. Q-tips, towels, and lots of time are the only way around it.

  • @autolavish GM was stupid and made this thing called an Optispark and put it on the LT1 motor. Basically its a distributor that if it gets wet will pretty much just die. Theyre a ~$400 replacement.

  • great videos :)

  • good job with the videos jacob. i really liked them and found them helpful : )

  • What product would you recommend to degrease engines that cannot be sprayed down with water? I use simple green now, but it only works so-so.

  • i would recommend ecolab proforce degreaser : )
