  • Magical! Exquisite! My favorite bass baritone ever! What an artist!!!

  • man what a low voice damn how low can it go

  • Cesare Siepi is - or was - the greatest singer of the twentieth century and probably all time born 1923 in Italy many years with Metropolitan Opera USA -

sorry to learn he passed away 2010 age 87. Such talents should live forever.

  • Superbly sung. One of the most underrated in history.

  • wow - that was amazing, I think that is the best voice i've ever heard sing this song. However Ezio's expressionism and physicality with his costar brought out more emotion...

  • WHAT A FINE VOIICE!!

  • Was he the original Emile in the first Broadway Version of this fine Musical?

  • @Wellch No, he was not. The original Emile was Ezio Pinza.

  • Very nice basse. I did not know him..

    Thanks for sharing my friend

    Regards

    Pierre Canadian tenor

  • @opera1232010 -Siepi was considered by many especially Italians as the best of them all.

  • SUPERB

  • Hey look, now I have a million goosebumps!

  • Who was the woman? She was terrific.

  • His voice is beautiful, amazing. I could live without the syrupy re-arrangement of the orchestration.

  • I wish they still sang like that in popular media such as Broadway shows.

  • Not only is Cesare's voice superb, but he is good looking too.

  • So gifted. Incredible artist.

  • If only Broadway still required singing of this caliber, or that of Pinza...

  • A great loss to the World.

Siepi died on 5th July 2010.

The Don filmed live at Salzburg in the 1950s was my introduction to Opera.

    Fortunately I have the Video.

  • Siepi (RIP) - thank you for such a glorious voice, for every nuance, for beautiful phrasing, for smoothness...and for making me want to be a bass (even though I was a baritone).

  • Oh my god. He takes the last phrase in one breath both times. What amazing control. Beautiful.

  • What a great ending.

  • Absolute perfection in every way.

  • You couldn't be more right.

  • Magnificent and totally idiomatic for the role.

    Beautifully sung!!!

  • It was written for one of the great operatic basses, Ezio Pinza, so it is meant to be operatic in this style.

  • i guess that makes sense, i hadnt known about that, but i dont really like oprea in this song :/

  • What a rendition!
