...there is a much better way that does not leave any conduct tape or shrink tubes or whatever, i have done this 100+ times to different headset, headphones, my last project was exactly like the headset you are using but i welded the htc cable(after the control buttons) directly to the speakers inside (now i have htc/Koss headset with great sound, check my video?
@thaGkillah , @richogem , and @pyronathanpyro , he did that because as everyone knows headphones all break eventually so he just saved the headache instead of having to unsolder n re solder 100 times when they break he can just plug in a new pair instead of spending money on a new mic attachment because headphones are cheaper then head sets... :/
why didn't you just open the button-part of the headset and sodered your new headhones there (without 3.5mm female-plug bullshit)? Thats looks so shitty! and it feels ugly to have that horrible long heatrick+ the female part of your 3.5mm!
@thaGkillah true but the htc headphones you cant open the button controller and also like you say thow iot is ugly lol there are easier ways to do this without the 3.5mm shit lol
@thaGkillah or even he could wire the headphones output to a female jack one that is meant to be solderd to like a new one from maplins for making custom headphone wires and such that would look neater

handy tip on the tinning of the wire! I always have trouble getting solder to stick to headphone wires
