Anita Bryant is more beautiful by far and her version of this song is the best. She is my favorite singer and her version of "Paper Roses" is for me the best. There is only one Anita Bryant, wherever she is.

Well, I did not know this was first done by a.b. (yuck!) but I heard this version first and even bought the single the day it was available. The song "Paper Roses" was originally a hit by the bigoted "pie in her face" Anita Bryant. Yeah, we all know that Marie covered this song; however, it makes my blood curdle when I hear it...........reminds me of Anita Bryant! Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a 19-yr old kid when I saw Marie sing this live on her and Donnie's show. Great memories and still today one of my favorite songs.  A poignant song and memory.

So true. She was indeed lipsyncing here to the 1973 recording. At 16 (her age here) her voice had matured to that we hear on her "This Is The Way That I Feel" album (due on CD shortly!)
