You described it perfectly. I haven't listened to this in YEARS!!!! But oh, wow, it used to affect me ... defined me in a way for awhile.

Now that I think about it, I remember hearing the album version for the first time when Division Bell came out. If I recall correctly, I thought that Floyd had changed from what I knew them as, but oh my gosh, nobody else in the world could create a piece like this!!

In fact Gilmour is one of the most technical quitarist nowadays. He had very fast and technical solo works and improvisations with extremely specific rythm that is unique to him. And would you please give name of some "good" guitarist. It will be a fair. I guess some stupid asses like you longination are full of envy. Haha . . .

a testament to what a true guitarist is, you don't have to play lightning fast to be incredible, davids every bit the guitar player jimmy p age is, i think he's better, he gets more out of a few notes than any guitarist ever has..

tbh most reasonable guitarists with a good vibrato could replicate almost perfectly every solo he has ever played. The magic is in the persona given of by the guitarist himeself. For me a guitarists tecknical ability is unimportant after the point is reached where speed is available if you feel the need. Mozart would have sounded rather worse were it never to have reached the dramatical speed he was capable of. I think too many guitarists play fast all the time tho!

i agree that any reasonable guitarist could learn the chords and play them, however, nobody is close to his style and nobody i've ever heard plays even slightly similar to him, his playing is unique and distinct, you can't say that for everybody...

lol just read my comment (almost a year old) and i was being a dick, sorry I was spinning out with my music back then when I was just getting into shred n had this requirement for music to be tecknical. I now find Gimour amazing aswell as loads of different style's. I do still find most guitarist very uninventive with regards to rythem and teckniques, Not speed as I think only occassionally should musicians play parts where the audience can't hear the individual notes used. ez
