2) Go on the black market to get more food and risk being arrested b/c it is illegal to buy more food over and above your ration booklett
3) All money coming in HAD to be converted to the local FAKE currency not recognized but world currency standards - that meant that is was useless everywhere else and the government had control and ownership of ALL true currency!

The problem goes back to Marx. Actually, it goes back to the beginning of human society, but I'm trying to keep the argument simple. Marx developed a few relevant ideas about class warfare and then he went crazy with them, trying to apply them to everything, thus coming up with his insane idea that class warfare was the whole driving force of history. It's all part of the bigger problem of Communism, which is that it tries to apply traditional mathematical logic to natural human interactions.

Perhaps I can bore you with the details of how slave empires of emperors/emperesses became feudal empires of kings and queens and later on merchant empires of traders when surpluses was accumulated by the banking and industrial families, but you get the idea.

Excuse me but Cuba has done very well for decades considering the US embargo. You are right, communism has been good for Cuba.

But can they sustain it without it degenerating into tyranny? Can they have economic growth?
Not to mention, Cuba is much smaller than the US. Same thing with Sweden. I strongly doubt that socialism would ever be viable for such a large and complex country as the US.

Well Cuba has survived many decades, and the latest indicators show that, as there are now other socialists to trade with in Latin America, Cuba has been growing economically. As for the USA, can it sustain capitalism? Civil rights are now alot stricter under Bush, and the economy looks like it might go into retreat.

But Cuba still has less civil rights. And as far as recession goes, that comes with Capitalism as the economy fluctuates, but when Communism goes bad, it goes much worse because it is as flexible as Capitalism. Remember when 35,000,000 Chinese starved to death in the late fifties because of mismanagement of resources by Mao's government?

I guess you think that 'intelligent', and 'debate' mean something else. Bill O is the most biased interviewer out there. How could anyone say anything intelligent on his show?
