The only reason I think people like mc1ate1mad1cow keep defending Mariah is that they don't actually care about the style of music. It all comes down to the fact that the music moguls are relying on Miss Carey's sex appeal on a Christmas album cover to sell their product, regardless how she actually sounds. Sorry, that doesn't fly with me. Looking attractive and trying to look sexified too me does not a great music cover artist make. Her cover of this song should be banned forever.

@DarkSunshyne525 I don't have to get over it, just because you say so. I do not have to be tolerant of this version of a classical Christmas song done by a REAL music artist. Mariah Carey has NOTHING on Darlene Love, period. That's the law of this matter. And I am very much opposed to relying on almost all sex appeal to sell records. This is what Ms. Carey does here. Being a sexy bombshell (and she's most certainly not) does not a great singing music artist make.

Anyone who suggests that Mariah upstaged Darlene on her own classic, or is even remotely capable of it should be in the slammer for life, no possible chance like a snowball in hell of parole or any other hope of getting out. If Darlene's had sounded a bite more subdued, it might have been comparable to Mariah's. For something traditional refer to Dean Martin's "Baby It's Cold Outside"--that's traditional, not that wild mouth performance of Darlene's. You're just a sorry fan who dies in Mariah's cover.

I understand that you may have your preferences but you shouldnt suggest banning the song just becuase you dont like it, especisally when other people do. I love this song and listen to it all the time, and I will continue to listen to it every christmas for the rest of my life.

Because they appreciate a vocal which utilizes more technique, and which, is infused with a far better sense of tonal placement than a rabid, steely wailing. On a side note, you need to stop.
