  • fuck this i can barely make pudding

  • Also what type of metal pot are you using? I was told stainless steel is the best.

  • Thanks for the video, Craig! This is just what I was looking for! Any advice on kits? What I need? How much to pay? Where to buy? Thanks again!

  • I brewed beer for the first time and it is fun!

But now i want to buy some more parts but it is expensive. Can i sell that homebrewed beer?

  • This video got me started in home brewing about 2 years ago. Thanks a million Craig

  • I tried to make my own beer idiot way and it turned out total shit. I have some pictures in blog and you can see how shitty it looks like :D. I wait till summer when I try again.

  • @RichardPaju torusiil.blogspot

  • can u use regular sugar?

  • watch my vid .. click on my channel.. just showing how brew is coming along and in later videos i will show ya'll how to do it without airlocks and wine yeast!!!

  • follow**

  • I've been using Mr. Beer, but decided it takes an awful long time to produce only two gallons, so I want to go bigger...do u use a 6-gallon fermentor, and what size can of extract is that? (they have different sizes on the Cooper's website)

  • do I need that clear tub of suger?

  • do you know if its legal to have your own moonshine still at home if its for your own use?

  • You started me on this hobby mah man. Thanks.

  • wtf is this guy wearing

  • Hey Craig, would using this same exact method work instead for the Coopers Irish Stout? Would you recommend using dextrose or brown sugar as the ferment? Thanks

  • @MrWappyslappy212 You can do it this way, but I recommend you use the instructions that come with the kit (can).

  • Hey Craig, I have been watching your clips for a while now, and love the way you review and demonstrate different recipes! I like to ask you if you could kindly advise me in the best and easiest beet kit possible. I have great limitations. Don't have a kitchen really, but do have a burner. Don't have much time to spend boiling, sanitizing, and bottling! I know, it seems like I mine as well just buy my beer from the store! ANY advise???

  • Hey Craig... I have a question about hard cider.. I juiced about 15 gallons of apples and i never washed my apples... if they were sprayed with pesticides, will my yeast die off? I'm pitching my yeast tomorrow.. will the yeast work for a while and then die? Also can I keep adding yeast if they do die off? Thanks.. I am kinda worried because my apples weren't organic, but I figured they just used sulfur to keep pests away.

  • @adrahaxxen I really can't say. You will just have to give it a try.

  • fish!

  • I like everything but the long lenghtly time-consuming politically correct disclaimer at the beginning.

  • great video!

  • hey CraigTube i love the videos and the simple method you use to brew your beer but will this method actually make decent to good tasting beer?

  • @naorb123 The barley has to be malted. Use malted barley for "all grain" brewing or steep roasted barley for flavour with the malt extract.

  • Hey, could I brew my own beer with my own barley and hops? Would I still need malt extract and sugar? Thanks :)

  • @connorthechemist I think you can but there are slightly different steps you need to take.

  • @tomo6s I think the most important answer here is that too much sugar will kill your head and body of the beer. If you want to make malt liquor, add up to 10 cups of sugar. I've never done it. I don't think it would taste so good. You're better off to learn how to make wine from store bought juice at 12% ABV.

  • I've seen videos 1 to 3 now. going to watch more. At this point I have a question. I recieved a gift from a purdue student friend of mine. The gift was a hops root of the same strain of hops budweiser uses. How much hops do I put in with my Barley malt and how much malt. As an added bonus I found some wild hops and dried them as well. you certainly hit the nail on the head mentioning all the complicated this and that videos. I was very pleased to see what you've done and I thank you.

  • My Larger always seems Sharpe at the back of the throat, not as smooth as a purchased Larger. Any tips on making a Smooth Larger?

  • @goodagofilms Lager?

  • @nwoisnow I was pissed on my Home brew lager when I wrote it. Cut me some slack I could hardly see

    the keyboard.

  • @goodagofilms lol nice

  • and on top of my last comment...i didn't mean making it as easy as you can...point was, cutting as many corners as possible

  • i don't mean any disrespect but trying to make brewing as easy as you possibly can, to me, kind of defeats the purpose of brewing. it seems to me that extract brewing is like putting training wheels on a bike. buying extract kits is just a step above buying store bought beer. i really like to have control over what flavor i put into the beer i'm drinking. if the passion of brewing is not there, don't do it. but this video would be great for beginning in the extract brewing.

  • CAn I use a brown Sugar instead?

  • @EpicStupid Yes you can.

  • @EpicStupid craig actually has a video of him doing that.

  • @wattsnick30

Have you bothered to watch any of his other vids? There's a reason "easy way" is part of the title on this one.

  • You've been brewing 23 years and yet you say the extract comes in "draft, pilsener and lager"? I've been brewing 17 years and I know it only comes in "2 row, pilsener and wheat" Draft is how you SERVE the beer, it's not a malt style, You've been watching too many Miller commercials....

  • Kudos on the video. This is generally how I just made my first batch in a couple years but the tips are great.

  • great vid!

  • This is a good video! I did some similar thing in mine for beer brewing !!

  • youre not using purified water?

  • @throwryukens No need.

  • @CraigTube Amen!

  • Here mate I'm watchin a yir videos and thir pure teckle! so ah set up myself mah ain account so ah could git some help wi dain the homebrew, ya see iv been on the smack for aboot twenty odd years noo and am tryin te get aff it and ah think if i can brew mah ain rocket fuel and just get masel so pished that i canna see straight then that will be me oan mah way to gettin aff the broon, cheers big ain, Martha xxxx

  • Drinking BEER = LOSING Fat !! It's True !! Science Proven, check it out:

    beerandbody(dot)com

Beer Consumers will absolutely LOVE this!

  • I love your videos Craig! You have been so awesome and helped me start brewing, going on year number three and still watch your videos on a regular basis. Thanks you for sharing your knowledge of home brewing. After making many batches of beer i got curious and started some of your hooch ie "inmate brew" i will let you know how that turns out! - cheers!

  • I'm new to home brewing but have researched a lot. I would not want to drink that stuff....

  • @kh54s10 You've probably been told that you can't make good beer from a kit. In fact, this beer has less adjuncts in it than your average macro beer. Check out my partial extract and mini mash vids. They may suit you better. Cheers.

  • @CraigTube Can I use white corn syrup in place of adjunct or is there a big difference? They are both glucose aren't they? Great Video's You are a true beer lover!

  • @flyingwolf11 You can try it. It won't hurt.

  • if i add too much suggar it can cause that it wont brew?

  • @hendz175 No, it will just taste like malt wine with no head and may kill the yeast because of the alcohol level. Then it won't carbonate in the bottles so you'll have flat malt wine.

  • @CraigTube

thanks for answering, im brewing my second beer, second attempt.

Could you tell me for example how much suggar is needed for 1 liter of beer?

Im not using malt extract, im using some kind of powder for it what basicly contains same things as malt extract and has yeast in it. Sorry for bad english, i dont know how those terms are in english. But the question is, is there any matter if i brew 3 liters at the same time or 60 liters at the same time? will it change the result?

  • @CraigTube is 1 week fermenter 1 week bottle good for bitters

  • @cber8860 I'd leave it longer in the bottles, like three weeks, but you can try it whenever you want.

  • are you albino? you sorta look like whitey from "me, myself and irene"

    no offense

  • r u ... craiglist youtube or something? hahah

  • Hey Craig! I just found your videos and I gotta say, they're amazing and really inspiring for a guy who wants to get started with this whole home brewing experience. I wanna buy a home brewing kit online, but I'm not sure about what would be the best choice. Could you give me any advice about starters kits that can be shipped outside the US? Thanks and greetings from Monterrey, Mexico.

  • @alejandrod007 I can't really say which kits ship outside the U.S. There's a link on my website craigfarraway (dot) con to a starter kit that's fool proof. Try that and ask them if they will ship to you.

  • Hi Craig, I'm currently very interested in producing my own beer with a couple of buddies of mine. I'm finding your videos quite helpful, I was hoping you could tell we where I could obtain such equipment, such as a fermentor and an air lock?

    Thanks, ScrimHyphen.

  • @ScrimHyphen You could try the Coopers DIY kit at craigfarraway (dot) com . It has everything you need from airlock to bottles.

  • Kittare!!!

  • BUM Beer lol

  • daaaaam , i want drink beer but not allowed in saudi arabia

  • @fakrr Actually it's allowed amongst the royalty, but they don't want us to know that.

  • @fakrr If you flew to Eritrea or Ethiopia I bet you could.

  • @fakrr Move to canada dude! Come drank some BREWWWW!!

  • @GuestSpencer fuck canada, those cunts cant drink for shit

  • @fakrr Move. Life is short, death is long. Rumor has it, in Heaven there is no beer. That's why we must drink it here.

  • @DrGaryGreen you are right, ill drink before i die and hope to stil be drunk in heaven ;)

  • @fakrr

i'm sorry to say this but that law of no alcohol is just fucking ridiculous

  • Craig-is that a 2 gallon pot?

  • @someonespadre Probably 2.5

  • I love your videos!!! Thinking about doin this for a hobby. Cant really find beer I lke and when i do it is so expensive. I have a couple questions. I found a brew kit and in the comments people said when you bottle the beer, you have to keep it at 50 degrees farht. for three months before you drink it. I was wondeing if you have ever heard of this and why do you have to do this?? The beer was a light geman lager. What do you think the easist kit is???

  • his shirt sez BUM

  • great videos!

one suggestion though, dont submerge any of the can in hot water because that type of can has a thin liner which contains bpa and it is released by heat.

  • man, I made some beer for the first time, left it in the primary fermentation bucket for almost 2 months now, bottled twice already, was about to do it for the 3rd time today, but noticed that the beer has some yellow color substance floating on the top layer.(looks like yeast, but not sure). is it damaged or can i still use it? how do i filter it out?

  • Hi there. If you will place your can into a lg. bowl of hot water before adding it to your water, it comes out easier.

  • I got a Mr. Beer, are they any good? Have you used them?

  • hey craig my coopers home brew tastes metalic, did i do something wrong?

  • You should throw some cinnamon or something in that. It's going to taste like straight bread water ROFL

  • hi graig iam making beer for 20 years+ on day i meet a real master brewer from germany he told me to put a green apple cut it in 4 remove the seed drop it in the bucket for 5 day fermantaion and after 5 day wow what a differance my god it remove the bad tast of yeast so much better now lot of peoples do this remember the green apple the beer is so wow

  • HI!! WITH EXTRACTS IS MORE EASY, WITH GRAINS YOU SEE THE HAND OF THE MASTER BREW... BUT RESPECTABLE YOUR JOB !! BYE

  • Hey man, I'm really interested in getting into this sort of thing, think I'll follow your instructions for the now, however is it at all possible to make your own "brew" i.e. flavour it to your taste rather than what comes in a time?

  • @looseheadprop11 Yes. Once you get familiar with brewing from the beer kits, you can start experimenting and move to "partial extract" brewing, adding some grains, hops, and other flavours of your choice. The sky's the limit, and I must say that you've embarked on a hobby that will never get boring. There are an unlimited amount of things you can do with your home brew recipe. I have quite a few videos that show some of the things you can do with these kits, and with hops and grains.

  • @CraigTube Have you tried any gluten free beer brewing?. I made banana honey millet beer, it tastes great, and has the same alcohol content if not more! ,and its way easier to digest .

  • hey craig, i watched all of your videos about how to make beer and i was wondering why you or if you need to put your beer from the bucket to a caboi? please reply and thanks!

  • @TheGamingGames You don't need to do that. Check out the comments on my "question for the brewing masses" video.

  • @CraigTube alright i checked that one out. thanks craig! i noticed your from canada, as am I do you mind if i ask what province? :P thanks agian!

  • Hey Craig thanks a lot, big help...are there any books on brewing you would suggest for someone just beginning?

    Thanks!

  • @Jasonthehammer. It is possible to use to much sugar and get the overcarbonation you are talking about (although I have only used packets of priming sugar and not the dark brown sugar). However, one thing I found is that overcarbonation can occur also if you add sugar too early. Take gravity readings and double check you don't see action in the bubbler. If the gravity isn't done dropping and you add sugar. You can get the overcarbonation.

  • F1 for the Bum Equipment sweatshirt.

  • Hey Craig,

Are you using 23 total litres? That's about 1gallon more than a US gallon. Is that accurate?

    Dan

  • @MeMcNeills I use about 20 Liters, and a liter is a liter in every country. You must be thinking of gallons. :)

  • @CraigTube Sorry, I meant 1 gallon more than 5 US gallons. But the kit says to use 23 liters...Any experience doing that? Does it make a much weaker beer? Do you have to add more sugars to make up the difference? I guess as long as the OG is where it should be it doesn't really matter, right?

    Thanks, Dan

  • @MeMcNeills 1 gallon is 3.8 liters.

  • @MeMcNeills No 1 US gallon is about 3 liters so if you need 20 liters thats about 6.5 gallons.

  • Hello Craig,

I made a batch of beer, but it seems I used too much sugars, and I think I over carbonated the bottles with dark brown sugar. Would it help it I waited longer before I opened a bottle?

  • @Jasonthehammer without knowing exactly what you did, I can't tell what will happen. If you over carbed the bottles, they may foam over if left long, or taste very sweet if opened soon. Better luck with your next batch.

  • When you make beer does it taste like beer you would buy from a store? I don't mean exactly or any specific brand.

  • hi im a noob but seen lots of your vids and think you ar the best im in the uk but need help cos not no wot to do as i wont to do some good beer like i see you do it in your vids im not good at this so i wood like if its ok for you to chat about it pls email me at larryandrews@live.co.uk help will be good as all overs r just to mad pls help me thanks

  • hmmm whats with the sanitizings when beer was first made im pretty sure they was no sanitising

  • Hi craig, I am a first time brewer and I made my batch last Saturday. (amber ale malt) It started fermenting next day and stopped after 2 days. Today is 4th day and there is no movement, I took the gravity reading and its 1.0010(1.0050 to begin with)So is it ready to go or should I keep it for another week or so? Also can I get plastic bottles from local store as my local brew hut doesnt carry it.Does it has to be beer bottle itself or can i use any plastic bottle (like water bottles).

  • @acidburn613 I would leave it for at least 7 days so it can clear and the yeast can settle out.

  • Hi craig i have made a batch of cider a bout 6 days ago, how long will it

    take to ferment thanks...

  • @stephenhassall18 It's done when the bubbles stop rising up the sides to the top. A week or two.

  • Well, was totally gonna do this today but turns out the tru brew bucket i have doesn't have a lid...so nuts to that.

  • i have this same beer kit im brewing right now thanks men yeaahh

  • home-brew.co

  • sugar or d.m.e. I think is a matter of taste. Tried dme didnt notice much if any flavour diff but mouth feel was was something I didnt care for. Just tried useing liquid maybe theres a happy medium, but probably go back to sugar especially in light beer.

  • This is so nostalgic. I first viewed you when I was new to brewing. Now I'm up to a 20 gallon Blichman kettle and propogating my yeast cultures. Thanks for growing with me. It's been fun folllowing you. "Dream on the Horizon" is a classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @brandon0409 From your comment u seem to so narrow minded craig helped me get into this and to keep doing it, narrow minded statements like yours make it seem like you would like some of his fan base.......may aswell never mention anything again mate

  • @brandon0409 - stop being a bellend - I have learnt more from this guy on home brewing than anyone else on youtube - If you don't have a nice thing to say - please don't say anything at all

  • Just made my first blog about homebrewing and put a link in it to this page, hope you get more hits brother man and I hope everythings still going well for you.

  • Tobin Bell, everyone!

  • You should not add the Sugar! That will ruin it. If you were a true home brewer you'd know that. Just add more Malt extract. Sugar gives it a cidary tast. Blah!

  • @brandon0409 I guess I'm not a "true" home brewer then. LOL Maybe you should have a look at some of my other more advanced brewing video before you make such a statement. Cheers.

  • @CraigTube i bottled up 20 litres last night that i had fermenting for 18 days.i put in more than the amount that it said on the can (1kg) . i put a few cups more. while bottling i tasted it and it was not the best :( maybe too much sugar ?? anyhow it was not bottled so im hoping it will get at least a little bit better after being bottled awhile????????. nevertheless i drank 3 glasses of it and i seemed to get a little buzz so im hoping that at least there is enough alcohol lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @brandon0409 The sugar casing "cidary taste" has been largely debunked. If you get a cidary taste when brewing with Craigtube's recipe it is likely because your fermentation temperature is too high. Many excellent beers are brewed with processed sugar, candi syrup, even sucrose (Belgians are famous for it, of course).

  • hey if water from the airlock gets into the beer 5 days or so during fermentation, is the beer automatically screwed?

  • @masterhec0 Well, probably not, but it should be avoided at all cost.

  • @masterhec0 The die is cast, let it ride!

  • About sanitization: a bad batch can do several things, mostly just get moldy or smell bad. But you can also get another strain of yeast and end up with low alcohol levels. A bad batch smells and tastes bad, so you probably wouldn't accidentally drink it thinking it was good.

  • Hey man, thanks for your vids they really helped me, I literally just finished brewing my first batch..... fingers crossed!!!! thanks again!!!

  • Hey man, thanks for your vids they really helped me, I literlly just finished brewing my own first batch..... fingers crossed!!!! thanks again!!!

  • Hi Craig ,thanks for all the videos they have really help me BIG time.

  • Hi Craig ,I bottled and 2nd fermented my home brew , it went off with out a hitch thanks for your videos hints & replys to my questions.Tasted really good too.

  • i need 10 pints a day, maybe more when it gets into my system, any tips on brewing to produce at least a 40 pint batch every 4 days?

  • Hi Craig, Enjoy your videos. I am interested in home brewing. I have 2 questions.

    1) Do you have to buy "brewing" sugar or can you just use powdered sugar , and 2) what is the shelf life after you bottle? I usually only drink beer on the weekends and I am concerned about it going bad before I drink it all. I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks in advance

  • @steveabrous Brewing sugar is just corn sugar, which is preferred and readily available. The shelf life is months, if not years with proper sanitation.

  • @steveabrous If you're looking to up the ABV a bit, corn sugar works great or you could just add extra malt extract. Table sugar would also do the trick. Powdered sugar probably wouldn't be so good because it has other stuff in it like cornstarch.

    Happy Brewing

  • good presentation, great vid..

  • Quick Question:

It's my first time brewing and I like your 'supermarket tin' video.

I actually live about a Km (1100 yards) as the crow flys from the Coopers Brewery (the tin you used) and today it was 42 degrees (107) with an overnight low of 27 degrees (80) and no sign of abatement.

Do you have any tips for cooling beer "the easy way"?

  • i loved the vid till you dipped the unsterilized can end in the pot..

  • Hey Craig... I was wondering if you know any online resources to buy cheap ingredients such as sugar, yeast, dextrose, and malt.. I keep finding kit for 30-40 bucks...

  • @greg22ca in UK we have wilko stores on the high street that sell 40 pint kits starting from £8 ($13)

  • what temperature do u brew i just starting to make beer

im used to brewing moonshine at 187

  • Great videos, very informative. I like that you don't seem to take a whole lot of time with sanitation and some of the smaller issues a lot of home brewers get into but your beer (from what you describe) still turns out great. I started my own blog about my home brews.

  • Hi Craig , I used normal tap water & it is fermenting like crazy now after 36 hours or so.Thanks for the advise & videos they are a great help.I will let you know how the final product tastes , if it any way good or nice I will give it a big Craig "OOOhhhhhh"Thanks again.

  • a water distiller can help taste . because tap water is full of nasty crap and beer makers filter it but one step better is water distiller.

  • Hi Craig , does the chlorine in tap water effect the yeast during fermentation ? thanks again.I will let you know how I get on with my first brew :-)

    Slainte.

  • @kenbigley It has been said that if your water is good enough to drink, you can use it to make beer. It's something you'll have to try. Mine has chlorine, and I use it all the time. Some people use bottled water, which is something worth trying just to see if any difference.

  • Hi Craig , I am going to use carbon drops rather than priming sugar , how long does it take to carbonate ? I understand you are very busy but any input would be greatly welcomed. Slainte (health) from Ireland.

  • @kenbigley It takes about 1 - 2 weeks at room temp. Don't keep the beers in cold temps during this stage. Warm and dark is the best.

  • "if you add too much sugar, you'll ruin your whole batch.."

what will happen if you add too much sugar?

  • @sonnetxi Well, the beer will not have much head, and it might not have much body. It doesn't taste so good.

  • @sonnetxi the yeast ferments sugar into alcohol. There are many types of yeast, but all of them essentially have some limit to the amount of sugar they can turn into alcohol before they die off leaving sugar behind that can give an off flavor. also since the yeast cannot survive in such a high alcohol environment, there are not enough yeast cells left to carbonate the beer.

  • Have watched several of your videos tonight on brewing beer. I must say that your way seems to be the easiest that I have watched. I currently am brewing a small batch of Mead and with your help hope to soon make my first beer. Thank you for taking the time and making things simple ffor people like myself.

P.S. Have also watched a couple of your videos tasting beer. I was fortunate enough to go to a brewery convention in Seattle. I felt like a kid in a candy store where you could try anything.

  • Hi Criag

I love your videos! I recently made a batch of brew from a home brew kit. I mistakenly pitched my yeast at too high of a temperature (around 93 degres) It appeared to ferment vigorously for two days however it has slowed. Is there anything I can do to correct the problem is it simply a wait and see solution?

    Thanks

    Garon

  • @pixelvault1 By the sounds of it, it's fine. It will slow down as the temp drops. At least it doesn't look like you killed the yeast. I'm sure within a couple of hours, it was cooled down to a safe temp. Should be fine.

  • are you on face book if so let me know

love the video keep up the good work

  • By looking at you I know you like your beer lol

  • Hi Craig , I bought a coopers i.p.a and for best results it says to add 300 grams of dex sugar , where you say add 1kg , I like my beer/ale around the 5-6% in strength , what would you recommend please ? Love the channel & info too , I will let you know how I get on all the way from Ireland ! :-)

  • @kenbigley Well, then I would throw in the 1K. Should work out fine. Oh, and only fill it to 4.5 imp gallons.

  • Craig I enjoy your videos the most on home brews! Please keep up the excellent job!

  • Hello there again,

Wont baking yeast make the beer go off? No disrespect but have you tried using it before and if yes how did it ended up?

  • @magplayer I saw a couple of guys from some brewing podcast use it to make beer, and they used beer yeast to make bread. Everything worked. The beer has a slight bread taste to it, but it was fine to drink, and if you're stuck and your wort is sitting dormant, best get whatever you can in there right now before some other microbe takes over your wort and ruins it.

  • Comment removed

  • @melvinvswaldo Assuming he has access to some immediately.

  • @CraigTube That was an accidental post sorry craig.

  • @magplayer All yeast is not created equal. Different strains produce different results. There is a very specific reason why certain yeast strains are used with certian beer styles. The right yeast can make all the difference! Yeast is the most important aspect of your brew IMHO!

  • Hello Craig,

I made my first batch yesterday and since it was my first time doing this I used an expired Coopers Australian Ale just to test the experiance, expired on November 2010. My concern is, it has been 12 hours and I still dont see any bubbles coming out from the air lock and after a closer peep I notice no fermantation has happen yet. Another thing to note, when I added in the yeast the temp was about 32 c. Could this have killed the yeast or are my yeast just dead due to old age?
