Hey, I'm new to blender, this tutorial worked great but when I finished I realized that my completed cube had no top or bottom faces and had curved edges although the
vertexes i had previously edited drew out a perfect cube. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
i have a question i am downloaded an airplane off of turbosquid for blender and i was wondering how would i just render the body of the plane...will this work and how would i do it? please help!
@dyemzone If I remember correctly (Been a while since I was able to use Blender, so this is purely off memory) you should have an option to enable subsurf or multires. Select that, and your object should be automatically subdivided upon creation, to the proper amount. The scripts default to the maximum useful resolution when doing this, so you shouldn't have to change any values, just click the little option box.
but for a blender noob you'd do better introducing the LOD concept in creating a cube, otherwise there will be people hitting the head against wall corners when they see it gets juggy from a distance lol
@AleksoMinotaur Well, personally, I aim for more complex sculpts. This in particular is more aimed for a use such as my multi-part chair tute, which wouldn't work as well with a more LOD-resistant cube, and can't really be saved from LOD at any rate. I adamantly recommend people to set their volumeLODFactor Debug setting higher, as I feel the LOD problem is a bit overly severe anyhow.

Be sure not to have the "Occlude Background Geometry" box check.. as I did. Or you will only be grabbing the top of the ring.

well i was finally able to make the first cube you did in this video, but is there a way to save it to where i can reopen it next time i run blender?
DannyG882 2 years ago
@DannyG882 Just File > Save it, like any other program. Saving it as a .blend (The blender filetype) will allow Blender to open it again.
Also, CTRL+U will make the current scene (Exactly) your default upon booting Blender, including models, cameras, etc.
