I want these in my small room and my question is that the sub sounds are good? I don't need veryvery deep sub but a normal nice deep sub? some people say that the they have no sub but i don't want to believe them :D so what you say? please somebody answer me ! really important to know this for me and sorry for my bad english. thx for answers!!!
These are nice monitors for the prise. As you probably already know the bass section is a little weak. However this takes some getting used to, as the bass is defined and can easily be heard, it's just not rich in volume. I've used these for one week and I can tell you that the mids and the highs are perfect, if they sound good on the HS50m, they will sound good on anything. Wish I could tell the same for the lows. Lows sound too thin and you must watch when you eq and control their volume.
@procletnic hi. yes highs and mids are pretty well balanced. i personally like music with not that much bass and heavy bassy music as well, so i do not have a problem listening on these. problem comes when i try to mix on them. i have to use my sennheiser HD 280 pro headphones for mixing right ammount of bass. of course i play my mixes on more types of speakers (old hifi speakers, car audio..) just to check it is right.
i dont know whether to get these or the tannoy reveal 105a, both active speakers, similar frequency response, the tannoys appear to be a bit clearer in the high end :/
i want to play bass guitar through gnx4 on this monitor and heard this monitor has not goof low frequency,so is that lack of low frequency for high bass electronic songs or even Sensible in a normal bass guitar playing?so do you recomend it to me for practical home bass playing ?
@duke7293 well, you can practice virtually on anything, for home practice in my opinion it is useable, you should not hear the full spectrum on theese monitors, but they can reveal minor inexactitudes in your playing abilities and instrument flaws. modern bass amplifiers are made in order to play the best and hide theese kind of things. try to connect your bass to some kind of monitors in your local shop to test this kind of sound. for example my brother practiced a lot like this thu small mix.
@KindAssas1n thank you. :D well I do not know much more orher speakers, so i can not recommend. but I am happy with these monitors, for DJing you might need a subwoofer, from the same series the best - HS10W, or like me, use headphones for bass reference. I use Sennheiser HD280 PRO.
this is a video made only for a diversion purpose. recording box itself requires a very good mic. the best I have is Rode NT2-A. do you think it is worth to record it?.. if yes, i could find a time for it during june.
hi. i think for general music listening you should use bookcase speakers because of its ability for enhancing music and covering some mistakes. for recording i don't recommend bookcase speakers for reasons mentioned above. monitors are specialized speakers made to show you possible problems in the sound and when something sounds good on monitors (and it is well mixed) it should sound good everywhere. although it is a big problem to make a good mix.
for listening music with these monitors i recommend sub too. i think listening music on monitors is higher pleasure, but it is possible that some lower quality music would not taste you so much as listened on bookcase speakers. i like listening to michael jackson or some older high quality stuff. they are usually more pricey to offer clear sound as these monitors too.
well, i dont know krk. these monitors are famous for its very clear mids, they are not very good for bassy things. when you are going to mix hiphop and RnB, the best solution is the sub, or monitors with better bass speakers.
is is the bass so bad that you need a sub with hs50m? i make mostly hiphop and r&b, do you recommend it without the sub or should i go for the krk rp5?
Primary thing that I do on these monitors is mixing music for bands. I listen to too many different types of music and DnB is one of them. This is not a bass test video, but only played song through monitors with bass turned up +6dB. Its just a showcase of that little woofer and a test of camera video potential. For bigger sound and full response im going to HS10W sub.
the first thing is, i dont have "bucks". and the second is that i want these because of their sound. diameter of the membrane dont seems to be important to me.
Hahah, then why do you listen to Tarantula and then upload it as a bass test video :D? Since you only videod the woofer element of the Yamaha HS-50M.
Yes, you are correct that big ain't better in some cases. But, if you listen to this kind of music and the upload a video of doing that, then you should save a little bit more money for bigger sound. But this is only my opinion.
I think it's better to buy the yamaha HS 80M... So there is no need to buy that subwoofer because you will have 8 inch woofers... The bass and low will come out as needed.
hi. they have very clear higher mids but ends at 50Hz. of course they can play lower frequencies, but not at listenable volumes. you can correct that with EQ but then it will not be as linear as it should be. best to buy with HS10W subwoofer. (going to buy beacuse of lack of bass tones), It is possible that you will need power conditioner too because of PC hum produced (speakers catch all, no problem with NTBs on battery - lower quality PSU in PCs..) although a very good buy :)

@Krakthor should be the sound card synchro problem, or low buffer size on slower computer.

Would these speakers be suitable for general music listening ? or would I be better with hi-fi bookcase speakers and an amp ?
I want to use them with my pc for some basic home recording with an M-Audio Fast Track Pro.

i think its a good buy, moreover they are more portable than HS80M's when you need to transport them.

but you know that the subwoofer cost like 450 €/+-$
