I have really bad patience when I was videos on youtube this were 7 minutes and I thought oh damn and I watched and I couldnt stop so watched whole the video and YOU ARE TALENTED! many nice painters and painting on paper and thats easier than on the computer and you paint on the computer and you own other painters that paints ON PAPER freaking amazing. But I have one question how long took this for you to paint all this?

@SinamoHD painting on the computer compared to paper isn't that hard, in fact, painting on the computer is alot easier, CTRL + Z ftw, you got access to almost all possible colours (hell, you got access to all of em), you got all types of brushes (if you work with specialized programms) you got special filters, all sizes of canvas...

do I need to go on?

The only downside: the computer works with squares and the tablet might not be accurate, but that can be helped with size and quality.

@StephanieValentin Okay, not to take anything away from you or anything, because you really are incredible..... I'd just like to say that this kind of pisses me off a little bit. You graphic design folks have some remarkably unfair advantages over those like me, who do our portrait work with pencil / ink and paper or canvas. Watching you do the pearls on your Jessica Alba is what really set me off. Anyhoo, despite the fact that you don't have to DO everything, this is fantastic work! Keep it up!

at the begining, every so often i see a quick blur and the image is different. what exact did you do?

@blooddarts1 she does a simple brush stroke in photoshop and then uses gaussian blur on it to smooth it out.... i personally dont like that technique.. its like letting photoshop do all the work, doesnt feel like a painting anymore...

@schnacker41 Different mediums, different techniques. Both digital and real paint techniques have advantages and disadvantages. Learning about both is frustrating and exciting. Try it out and see. Yes, they have different feels, just as pencils feel different from oil paints. Is the program doing all of her work for her? No. The program does make some things easier, yes, but one still has to be an artist to create original work. Stephanie is obviously an artist.

I tried this technique myself and i really didnt intend to offend the artist. I respect her work and i know that the technique is very common and can result in good quality work like here.I was just trying to say that i personally dont like this technique cuz for me while im doing it it doesnt feel like im painting. Also i like it when you can still see some rough brushstrokes in the image and its not perfectly smoothed out because it makes the image look more alive but thats a matter of taste..

@dynomax101 Also in the process i prefer to actually pick the right brush and the right opacity and the right flow if i want to achieve this sort of smoothness rather than just clicking on filter/gaussian blur and see what happens but thats personal preference really... and of course it takes experience and artistical talent to create stuff like this so high props to Stephanie. I wasnt trying to deny that she is an artist!

@schnacker41 I too like the textures of real paint and I also love a lot of the layering effects I can get in a good painting program. I use both methods a lot myself. Try Corel Painter. It has quite a number of blurring, paint moving, and smoothing brushes, as well as impasto categories. A lot of the effects of real paint can be gotten, though, of course, they will print out smoothly. Since neither medium--computer and real paint--can truly duplicate each other, I use both. Take care!
